We came here because of the good review and how close it was to our house. Note that this place…read morealso has rather peculiar hours. It only opens for dinner, and only sometimes? Check the open/closed sign outside. It's run by literally two people - the waitress and the bartender. They have a rather short menu and a drink special of the day. The bartender is open to making anything you want though, given that they have the ingredients. The service was good and they made an effort to let us split the check based on our orders. I ordered the Baja Fish Tacos for $7, since I had a good experience in San Juan ordering this dish. It was sizable and had three soft shell tacos, However, it was covered in red cabbage with not a lot of fish at all. Sure it was cheap, but it wasn't even worth $7. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of zero is because some of my dining companions really enjoyed the Shrimp Ceviche, so I would like to go back and try that. This is one of the cheaper places to go for dinner in RIncon, but honestly, I'd rather just get a sandwich or go to Surfer's Spot.

The name was a little misleading - did not seem like a typical wine bar to me but a fun, islandy martini bar. Bartender was great - he offered "insurance" on all of his concoctions - if you didn't like it, he would drink it! ha, ha. Had a great indoor open air set-up with a neat jacuzzi pool/lounge area and a good band one night. quiet, great art, fun atmosphere and really good pizza. Tough parking lot - if you find a spot on the street before or after this place take it!

Ten out of 5 stars! The experience at Set the Bar exceeded all of my expectations. The space is so…read morerelaxing while simultaneously glamorous and sleek. They have many seating options from relaxing couches to dining tables and patio seating. Parking is a breeze. If you like wine, this is the place for you. They have EVERYTHING. I was truly overwhelmed. I could have spent hours in there just looking at the selection. They also have a nice array of whiskeys and the bourbon prices are very fair. The food at this locale is FANTASTIC. We tried a cheese plate which was a perfect starter while we perused the rest of the menu. I went with the tuna tartar and tostones as an entree and I was afraid it wasn't going to be enough food but it was the perfect portion. The tartar was delectable. I will be thinking about it for a long time. Everything was top notch at this place but I think our server, Rene, was the icing on the cake. His positive and welcoming energy set the tone for an incredible evening. He was so knowledgeable about the wines and the menu and he did truly felt like a friend. His recommendations did not stop at wine and food - he also gave us advice on places to visit while we are in the area. He's truly a gem! This is my first time in Aguadilla but I could see myself coming back for the sole purpose of visiting Set the Bar again. It's truly that good. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

El Vino Crudo - Beetroot ice cream and olive oil cake

If you're a lover of Italian small plates with distinctive flair and/or a curated wine list filled…read morewith exotic grapes and niche finds, you should definitely give El Vino Crudo a try. It's a cozy little restaurant that was perfect for our recent short stay in Old San Juan. I was impressed with the wine list, which featured sparkling, white, orange, rose, and red options by the glass and of course a more extensive list of bottles. I opted for two different sparkling options, a Pineau d'Aunis (rose) from the Loire Valley (strawberry notes) and a Verdeca (white) from Puglia (melon, white flowers). I drink a lot of wine and have never heard of these grapes at all, so they were fun to check out and delicious to boot. We also tried a number of different bites. They were all good, but these were the most memorable: Apio gnocchi - delightfully pillowy and nutty Dulce de papaya and prosciutto - lightly sweet and savory all at once. This might be an even better version of the more popular prosciutto and melon dish. Partamra olive oil cake - so lemony and moist Beet ice cream - this was wild! For sure my first time trying beet ice cream. It was barely sweet and had a very thick, almost custard-like texture. Special shout out to the staff, who were all so nice and chill and knowledgeable.

I had an awesome palate experience. I highly recommend. You will not be disappointed. We tried…read morealmost all the entrees
