Seriously. You guys…read more I'm a big fan of the Protagonist café and the antagonist café. I finally had a couple of friends in town and had the opportunity to visit pieces. First of all, the owners really did an amazing job with the renovation. Keeping some of the original charm and making this a really great space tailored for hanging out and playing games, including outdoor space. The bar area is totally awesome and I think that I would go there alone to sit at the bar. Something I don't normally do, but the bartenders seemed totally friendly and accommodating, as did all of the weight staff. Our table form arrived right at opening so it wasn't busy. But, soon, it got super busy as it was Friday night. I have to stay that. I love the crowd here - it's so diverse. Everything from a nerdy gaming crowd, dates, friends getting together, and a group was using the meeting space back in the corner. All was lively and jolly and happy. I will definitely visit again due to the atmosphere. I'm not really want to go out to bars, but this place is so accommodating and diverse. The food wasn't as amazing as I would hope but I do think that the menu is big and there's something for everyone. The table did enjoy the house made wontons and sauce. A few of us had bowls, one of us had a buffalo chicken wrap and they were all just OK. We did split the barbecue chicken quesadilla and I think that we all agreed that it was the best thing we had. I am excited that I have found a new place in Soulard and I can't wait to go back with my spouse as a date. This place is an absolute gem. Oh, I also wanted to mention the service procedure. It's totally in genius. You have little colored sticks that you used to show the weight staff that you're either ready to order, ready for the check. That way they don't have to interrupt your social gathering or gameplay.

I worked on my laptop as I ate and drank at the bar. I had the Melting Pot version of a cosmo... something else... and cheese fondue. I don't remember which one. Ugh. This is why I need to learn to write reviews near the time of the experience, not 2 months later. No matter. I enjoyed the food and drink. Prices are not as good as they were pre-Covid in the Loop... but maybe I'm not as good either!

We were sat in a very comfy corner booth for two sitting next to each other. Very nice. We decided on the 4 course for two. Which consists of cheese fondue, salad, entree fondue and then chocolate fondue. A great choice for the full experience. First off, Michael was our server and he was excellent. He did a fantastic job of explaining what he was doing making the fondues and explaining the charcuteries of food for dipping each time they came out. The four course option lets you choose your fondue /cooking options, cheese, entree and chocolate. Salads came out first, I went with the house salad which was very good. Then we choose the spinach artichoke cheese which was a great choice for us since we love spinach artichoke dip. Plate of breads, apples, grapes came out. My favorite course by far. Then we went with the traditional oil for the cooking method. This is where we didn't think things out. My husband does not like fish or seafood. His entree consisted of all steak and pork. I ordered a combo of steak, chicken, salmon and shrimp. I waited until he was done eating before I cooked the seafood so it would not give the oil that fishy taste he dislikes. Neither of us cared for the batter we could dip our raw meat & vegetables in before cooking. Just seemed heavy and tasteless. It also fell off and burned in the bottom of the oil. The Melting Pot does have an online timer for all the meats which was pretty cool. You have three skewers so you can cook multiple at a time. This part is very messy and keeps you busy cooking& eating. We also felt very full after. Neither of us eat a lot of fried food...so, it wasn't the best cooking method for us. Then, the table was cleared and it was chocolate fondue time. We went with the turtle pecan which was another great choice. Plate of sweet cakes, strawberries came out. We were definitely stuffed to the brim when we left. Our thoughts later. It was a unique eating experience and we were glad we satisfied the curiosity of doing it. But, I think we will keep making an occasional cheese fondue for home. Or, maybe a good girls night with wine and cheese fondue.

What a fun afternoon!…read more To my surprise, Grant's Farm does not charge admission. What they do charge for is parking. $27. Yikes. If possible, prepay online for $18. And, don't worry, there are plenty of things to spend money on: personal tours, food and drink, feed for the animals (not the horses), trinkets, camel rides...you know the routine. Once parked, you need to decide on where to visit first. There are the stables on one side of the parking lot and the deer park tram on the opposite end. We started with the stables. The stable itself is beautiful - pristine. Peaceful even. There were 4 of the gorgeous Clydesdale "big boys" there when we visited. All but one were 3 years old - huge, and not yet full grown. You may pet them though signs warn of the possibility of biting (the horses biting you, not you biting the horses!) I saw a caretaker scratching a horse behind his ears. I tried it and that big guy about melted right there. I wouldn't call it magical but it was pretty darn neat. We then walked across the parking to catch the tram ride through the deer park (many more animals besides just deer) , we arrived at the Tier Garden. Here, you will find animal/bird shows (just go in without expectation), animals to pet and feed, camel rides and free beer. WHAT?? Yes, 2 free Budweiser products for those over 21. There is plenty of food for purchase too. (Skip the soft pretzel. Calling it "soft" was false advertising.) We spent about 2 hours here but you can spend as much or as little time as you want. Grant's Farm is a must see when visiting STL. Good luck finding a better deal - $27 for a fun afternoon for 4 adults - heck, just the free beer was worth it. And having a Clydesdale melt in my hands was absolutely priceless..

Once the tram stops, there is lots to see. The goat pen was full of goats which you can feed. Then there are chickens, rabbits, alpacas, camels, cows, and a lot of other animals you can visit. Of course, there are the Clydesdale horses that you can get up close to. They are huge!! Great experience for any age.

We were just about to order the toasted ravioli which are locally noteworthy here. Except that in the introduction and telling about the place, our waitress informed us that Blueberry Hill is also owned by the same people who own Pin Up Bowl across the street. We had been there earlier in the week for a work party and the toasted ravioli there are the same ones that arrive by the same delivery here. So we skipped those. We ordered drinks and found some nice options. I had a tin of a local light beer and that was quite tasty. Looking for something different, we went with the fried cheese balls. Sadly, not that great. Battered and fried, they were not very flavorful and no sharpness to the cheese. Peel off the batter and they look like just the same cheese cubes you can get at the supermarket. So I'd say skip these too. Otherwise, Blueberry Hill is cool. The memorabilia on the walls, the fun games in the next room and don't skip the Duck Room. It's a neat place and maybe on my next visit, something more substantial to eat with our drinks. [Review 439 of 2026 - 508 in Missouri - 25622 overall]

I don't remember what I had on my most recent visit. It may have been only a lemonade; I wasn't feeling well after an ice cream float at Fitz's across the street (lol @ my dietary choices). Blueberry Hill is locally iconic to the point that the place feels borderline touristy on a busy weekend afternoon. However, if you come in the evening during the week, it's much quieter and low-key, and I prefer that vibe. After you order, if it isn't too busy, try to spend a few minutes looking at the walls of photos of celebrities who have visited Blueberry Hill. (At least, I think they've all visited and it isn't a mixture of those folks & photos from founder Joe Edwards' private collection. Even if it were the latter, it still would be fun to look at the photos.)
