Hamburger with cheese and bacon
Aaron T.

Stirling chickens is one of those places that you go to when you've had a tough day. If you've been moving house, helping someone fix their roof, or have a bad hangover this is the place to go. They do pretty standard chicken shop food, and have the burger market cornered in Stirling. The burgers are ok, but you won't find anything fancy on these burgers. It's pretty much one burger with lettuce and tomato with optional egg, bacon, cheese, onion or all of the above in "the lot". They also serve nice free range bbq chickens, yiros, salads and various fried things. The salads are very run of the mill chicken shop style. As far as the owners and staff go, you can tell these guys are tired of running a chicken shop. Nothing new happens here and I don't expect it to. However, they are generous, and often add an extra piece of fish or an extra potato cake to your order. Sometimes this is good, but often in our house it gets fed to the dogs. I think what this place needs is a bit of a shake up and revamp of the menu. If a good burger place comes into the hills it will take them out. They are nice people though and make ok food so I'll be back next time I need food and can't be bothered putting a clean shirt on and going to the pub.

Pizza baby!!! I've…read morebeen to those cities that never close down but this is still better than the pizza in Roma town. In my opinion it is better than most of the chains and hey, I was a Pizza Hut kid so I totally know what I'm talking about! I'm here to tell you that you cannot go past the Ham & Mushroom - add some red capsicum to that and you have one happy pizza. The pan sizing is pretty big too, you can get a large, family or party size, and I don't know about you guys but I prefer a generous, fluffy base rather than a thin pan: I want a pizza, not a biscuit, which is exactly what their lovely staff deliver! Dining in isn't a big occasion here, the space isn't really designed for families larger than four so it's lucky that takeaway is an option. The locals tend to refer to this place as 'Aldgate Pizza' rather than 'Aldgate Cafe'. in fact its only recently that I even discovered its true name, so if you are wanting to place and order abut you don't have the number - don't be like me and get into an argument with the person on the other end of the directory line when they tell you that Aldgate Pizza doesn't exist! because it is foremost a cafe, they just happen to make awesome pizza.

Takeaway pizza review:…read more This little nugget of legendary Hills food takeaway joints has eluded me for many years. Until 2015. I had the good fortune of swinging past the Aldgate café on my way home from a friend's place one Sunday evening a few weeks ago when my partner said 'Feel like pizza tonight?' to which I smugly retorted 'Do furry ursidae defecate in wooded areas?' That was a couple of months ago, and I'd forgotten how good the pizzas were. But again this Saturday eve, the question of whether I felt like pizza for tea was raised once again, and once more I answered like a smart alec. So we phoned up the Aldgate café and ordered a medium Mexican and a thai chicken pizza. Simple enough...until it came time to actually finish eating what we'd ordered! These pizzas were dynamite! So filling, and so so SSOOO tasty! I don't normally leave leftovers, but I had no choice. And it was still tasty the next day (feel free to hit me up for my leftover pizza reheating technique - guaranteed flavour country). The range of available styles is great, and the service was quick, for both delivery and in-store ordering. Don't miss this place if you're in or around the hills. It's tucked in amongst a few other shops, so it's easy to shoot past and not catch it, but it is a worthwhile food experience. They also have an affordable and decent range of drinks/wines inhouse.

Just another unassuming little pizza place in a collection of shops. Or is it??…read more This place is a favourite among people in the area, and I was pressured quite heavily to try it out. Consequently here we are! I came, I tried it, I came back home... and here I am... The staff are very friendly, and very welcoming when you come in. After ordering, for the first time I was asked if I wanted to add any extra toppings. Seriously, a lot of places offer this service, but rarely are you ever asked about it. You may think it's a small thing, but it stuck in my mind. The wait time felt a little long, but I did go at a busy time. When the pizza arrived it was amazing. The drive home was a hard one, and biting into the pizza, the first thing I noticed was the dough. What did they do to the dough? It's magnificent! Maybe they did nothing, maybe it was supplied to them that way. Either way, it was really good. The toppings were plentiful and the cheese was nice. The sauces used had a bit of bite to them, just the way I like it. It was recommended to me, and I recommend it to you too.

Dear Reader, I found the staff struggled to evaluate the…read moreneeds and requirements of many customers in the store: I've been multiple times and have this to be true across the board: staff often don't ask enough questions of customers and are reluctant to be friendly. It doesn't help that the noise pollution inside is so loud; sometimes you have to be leaning over the counter to hear what the staff are saying. With regards to food: the pizza quality is fairly decent--when compared to other pizzas and pizza places it's quality would often be described as standard.

Ahhh, don't think so guys, stop trying to cheat me out of more money just because I don't carry cash, no one carries cash. So I walked out. I wasn't missing out on much anyhow, Bubba's Pizza is like eating a piece of cardboard with a few shreds of cheese and a mushroom, you can get pizza ten times as good as this down the road. Cheapskates come here when they can't be bothered cooking but they need to feed the kids, it's like eating a biscuit with some oregano sprinkled on it. You can eat in but that is a dining experience I would avoid if I were you, no atmosphere to speak of, take your cardboard elsewhere, even if it's just to the park across the road. Not entirely satisfying, everyone.

I was famished, all of the good restaurants were closed or it was $100 per head to go in and drink/eat all you can. The golden arches were a calling but I resisted not much of a temptation and was instead drawn to the spicy green and red lights across the road. "Give me all you got and stat!" I cried. Apparently that equated to a chicken and guac burrito with mexicrinkles (yes you did not read that wrong) and a Corona for $16.95. Well what a way to ring in the new year! My freshly heated burrito wrap was packed with spicy chicken and guac and not too much lettuce, my crinkle chips (I refuse to call them mexicrinkles again) were perfectly salty and spicy and the beer topped it off nicely. The atmosphere was clean and the layout was really cute with wooden boxes filled with cacti and industrial lighting in the venue. It has beautiful big windows opening out onto Jetty Rd so you can feel like part of the nightlife without getting abused by any of it. Overall if you need a quick fix meal that is reasonably priced, very fresh and reasonably healthy, this is a great option on Jetty Rd.
