Unsure of which service to select, I explained my situation and she recommended the Empowered Realignment, as this incorporates subtle bodywork such as polarity and cranial sacral therapy. I arrived early for my appointment which gave us time to discuss the locations of discomfort, diet/exercise regime, current emotional state and massage preferences. Based on my current issues, she combined traditional massage (shiatsu?,) myofascial release and energy healing. During the treatment, she checked in with me to ensure the pressure was comfortable and adjusted when I felt pain. Soft music played in the background, a specifically selected essential oil blend was diffused and at some point I was so relaxed I fell asleep. She gently woke me up to let me know the massage had ended. We sat down afterwards to talk through thoughts that arose during the energy work portion, had a glass of water and she suggested a few things I could do to improve my back/emotional state. I left with a roller of the essential oil that was selected for my session. It's rare to find a Massage Therapist who combines aromatherapy, massage and Reiki into one holistic treatment. I really enjoyed the entire experience and look forward to my next appointment! Side note: Blakey currently massages out of her home. I'd wind up in Granite Run, or Lord knows where else. But, I really think I've found a great place to go, and i won't have to hunt any more! I've always needed a strong, quality massage. I need the therapeutic parts, not the candles and incense. Nothing would frustrate me more when I'd leave an establishment, my back is still STONE, and the masseuse's hands are cramped up, because she couldn't get the job done. So, I constantly have had to change my massage places, in order to find a therapist that could do a good job. But, Back in Balance, I believe, is this place. Megan is professional, yet causal. She's not your ordinary massage therapist, and there's nothing ordinary about the breadth and depth of her clinical knowledge. In my case she used a combination of neurokinesis and active release therapy to "reprogram" my neck, shoulder, arm and leg to reduce dramatically the chronic nerve pain that typically plagues my right arm, and to eliminate the sometimes blindingly painful sciatica in my right leg. I began to chat with Dr. Snyder about some pain I'd been experiencing in my neck and back. These issues had been with me for years and I assumed they were just the price of growing older. Dr. Snyder immediately took interest in me as a patient and as a person. She listened, she walked me through the science behind back pain and chiropractic adjustments. She taught me that a healthy, well-maintained spine would improve my life and that my pain was not, in fact, an inevitable part of life. Six months after our initial appointment, I am 100% pain free! I can roll over in bed any direction I chose! I can turn my neck any way I want! And I have had ZERO sciatic flare ups! Dr. Snyder has a calming, pleasant demeanor. She has comforting hands. At first, everything seemed great. My first two appointments were very educational - I was shown a video, talked about how the back/spine works, etc. I was informed that my shoulder issue was caused by some hip subloxations and was directed to come twice a week at $50 a pop for the foreseeable future. I was provided a laundry list of things that were wrong with me and promised that chiropractic care was the cure. The third visit seemed okay but I woke up the next day in a worse position than I started. The pain in my neck, back, and shoulders was so intense I could hardly do my job where I legit sit at a desk all day. I couldn't sleep. I called out of work one day and moved up my appointment. I even scheduled a massage with this office, hoping that would facilitate in my recovery. I got the worst paid massage of my life. Exboyfriends did a better job and they were just trying to coerce sex out of me. Once I let my nephew use my back as a road for his toy trucks while I laid on the floor and that was a better massage. I tried addressing my issues with my chiropractor who simply brushed me off, stating simply "sometimes it gets worse before it gets better" and added a heating pad to my back after my adjustment. I was still in a lot of pain but a couple of visits with a licensed massage therapist and an acupuncturist mostly cured me. In sharing my woes with others, it turns out at least 2 other people I know had similar experiences. They were also told their legs were uneven - they were shown the same video, they were placed in similar treatment regimes, etc. They also were not satisfied by the services provided by Stone Bridge Wellness. For anyone reading this (I'm sure they have a paid Yelp account and this review will get deleted if it even gets posted), I just advise you to do a little more research than I did. If you're in pain, it can be easy to get swayed by folks who promise relief. In my case, and the case of at least two friends, Stone Bridge Wellness was not the answer unless you don't mind suffering worse than when you started and you have at least $100/week to blow.

I started going to her a few years ago when I was suffering from chronic back and neck pain. Nothing seemed to help my back pain. I went to a chiropractor, accupuncture, other massage therapists, physical therapy, you name it. I would feel better for an evening or two, and then the specter would return. But the thing that finally made the muscles in my neck and back calm down, and let me live a little, was a series of massages from Julia Taylor. I went through six sessions over a couple months. Julia was able to teach my muscles, that it was going to be alright, and they could just relax, and get strong and healthy again. Perhaps my favorite thing about Julia is how quick she is to respond to email requests, often squeezing me in the next day. (I've emailed her more than once when I've tweaked something in my neck or back and sent her a desperate "Help! I know you're busy, but I need you!" email.) She's been able to "read" my body like no one I've ever met, and she always comes into a session knowing what we'd worked on the past few times. I've recommended her to friends, and they've all gone back to her repeatedly. Her prices are quite reasonable - $85 for a 75 minute session; $100 for 90 minutes. She also frequently runs package specials - get on her email list to find out about these. Be warned - she usually runs a little long with her sessions. It might wreak a little havoc on your schedule, but who can complain about a few extra minutes of massage? Honestly, she's good enough that, should I ever move out of Philly, I'd come back just to see her.

I was told to wait in the receptionist area, while my child was seen by Dr. Kang. I didn't know what Dr. Kang did to my child until two years later, when my child finally collected enough courage to tell me that in Dr. Kang's office, he was handed a human body diagram by the office assistant to circle areas where he was suffering pain. He circled his head as his entire head felt cloudy. When Dr. Kang saw what my son filled out, she screamed and yelled at him in her office, "Why can't you follow instructions! What's wrong with you!" After two years, I learned the trauma my son experienced, at the hands of someone who was supposed to provide care and compassion to the patients. I didn't pay nearly $150 to have my son yelled at and psychologically traumatized and emotionally abused. Furthermore, my son didn't get any better after Dr. Kang's acupuncture session, and we sought another acupuncturist. I will tell all of my friends and acquaintances and people in my community, if you want to seek acupuncture care, go somewhere else and avoid Dr. Kang at all cost to protect your mental health and well-being.
