History

Established in 1114.

Wenige Jahre nach der Verlegung ihrer Residenz nach Klosterneuburg gründeten 1114 der Babenberger Markgraf Leopold III. und seine Frau Agnes in unmittelbarer Nähe ihrer Burg das Stift als religiöses,soziales und kulturelles Zentrum ihres Landes. 1133 übergaben sie dieses Stift den Augustiner Chorherren. 900 Jahre später steht das Jubiläumsjahr unter dem Motto: Glaube-Begegnung-Friede.Im Jubiläumsjahr 2014 ladet ein reichhaltiges Programm an kulturellen und religiösen Aktivitäten ein, das Stift Klosterneuburg und seine Besonderheiten kennenzulernen.

The Leopoldsberg is a good tour for tourists visiting Vienna. You need about half a day time for it…read morebut you will not regret it. Up there there is a tremendous view about the River Danube and the older and newer districts of Vienna. You can reach the Leopoldsberg either with a bus - or - if you fancy a little hike you can travel with the "U4" to Heiligenstadt, then ask for the Bus to "Kahlenbergdoerfl" (just print it and show it to someone at Heiligenstadt) and then you can climb the Leopoldsberg using the famous "Nasenweg" (Nose-path) along the "nose" of the Leopoldsberg. Be sure to take a camera with you.
