Paul is a wonderful, professional, responsive and caring guy that just wants to do a good job and…read moredo it well. I found him thanks to Yelp, and noticed he was local to my home and quickly reached out regarding my unfavorable damage to my vintage LV wallet. This 2004 coin purse wallet combo has seen better days, and when my wallet was rejected for repairs from the original source, I didn't want to give up on it. Paul asked me to send pictures of the damages so he could quote me properly due to the amount of work involved. We agreed on a price and even the amount I had to leave for deposit wasn't an issue. He wanted to make sure that I would trust his judgement and value his work. Paul said to give him a week and he delivered it to me in 5 days time! Be sure to always ask him what the store hours are, as he unfortunately is experiencing flood damages to his work space. How he was still able to fix this wallet for me in such dire conditions, I'll never know. He's chatty and friendly, and could use more foot traffic as this kind of work is clearly dying in the industry. He seamless repaired my coin purse compartment that kept leaking coins all over my bag, as well as the bills compartment that was fatigued. The work is perfect; beat that 5th ave! If you have a beloved leather good or wallet like me, be sure to reach out to Paul. I know that I will have this wallet for many more years to come!

The craftsmanship is top-tier--the new soles look incredibly durable, and the leather conditioning they did made them look brand new again. The customer service was fantastic, the turnaround time was quick, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of work they deliver. It is hard to find honest, skilled cobblers these days, but this Brooklyn gem is the real deal. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to save their favorite footwear!

Very disappointing repair of my Birkenstock Arizona Soft Footbed sandals…read more I brought my Birkenstock Arizona Soft Footbed sandals to North 11th Shoe Repair for a repair. Before the work was done, I specifically explained to the cobbler what needed to be repaired and what I expected. Unfortunately, the repair was not done properly, and after only about two weeks of normal use, the sandals started coming apart again. When I initially picked up the sandals, I noticed that the rubber had not been properly sanded and was uneven/off-level. I pointed this out to the person at the shop, but I was told that it was fine. I had to show an image of what the finished repair should actually look like before they acknowledged the problem and corrected that part of the repair. Unfortunately, the problems did not stop there. After only about two weeks of use, the glue is now coming off on both sandals, and the repair is once again failing. For an $85 repair, I expected much better workmanship and durability. I had seen several negative reviews about this shop before bringing my sandals there, but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and judge the shop based on my own experience. Unfortunately, my experience ended up confirming many of the concerns I had read. In my experience, the workmanship was not what I expected from a professional cobbler, particularly when working on Birkenstock/German-made footwear. I specifically explained what needed to be done, yet the repair was still not completed correctly. I am sharing this review because I would not want someone else to spend $85 on a repair only to have the same problems return shortly afterward. If you have expensive or specialty footwear, especially Birkenstock sandals, I strongly recommend finding a cobbler who has demonstrated specific experience repairing this type of footwear. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend North 11th Shoe Repair for Birkenstock repairs.

There was a worker inside who hid when they saw me waving/knocking. But when I (finally) switched over to my fall shoes that I hadn't seen since before the pandemic, because there was no where to go, I found a couple pairs of boots that needed some love. I have to admit, I almost walked out of here and gave up a few times. When I came in, Bob immediately said he couldn't help me and acted like he didn't want my business. I was shocked to encounter this kind of treatment, since the reviews were so good. But I needed my shoes repaired, so I dug in a little deeper on why he felt he couldn't repair them and we were able to come up with a way to fix both pairs. He at one point told me he couldn't polish my white boots and gestured to all the colors of polish he had, and I was the one who picked out the "vanilla" he ended up using that matched perfectly. Again, the vibe was he didn't even want to try to find a solution to my shoe repair needs. The next shock was the price - $40 to fix each pair! This was more than I had paid for both shoes, because one pair were 90s vintage given to me by mom mom and the other were a beautiful pair of cowboy boots given to me by a friend. Both needed a heel replacement and a little polish. The 90s vintage ones needed some gluing on the heel. Again, I almost walked out, but I gave him my money and hoped for the best. What I got was actually a pretty good shoe repair. Was it $40 worth? Not really. But I am happy with the result. Bob was also MUCH nicer when I came back. And the shoes were done a day early, which was great. I think all things considered, I would come back here, because I know they do a good job. Almost didn't get there, though. I hope I don't encounter the same customer service issues next time.
