We've been visiting the Finger Lakes for many years. Being from Maryland, we try to make the trip at least twice a year. Not only do they offer outstanding wines, snacks, drinks, and slushies, but the views are beautiful and the hospitality is unmatched. My husband and I had a great time here! We each did a wine and chocolate pairing tasting. He did the the reds and I did the whites. All the chocolates were delicious. My husband really enjoyed the Heritage Red, and I really enjoyed the Diamond. Honestly though, all the wines were tasty. Jay, who served us, was also fantastic. Very friendly and welcoming. He even grabbed a cold bottle of the Diamond for us when we purchased. If we have time this trip, we'll definitely come back. It has a very relaxed, local feeling environment. I only wish the weather had been better so we could have sat outside. Also, the neighborly dog, Pepper, is so sweet and friendly. read more

This vineyard was only 5 minutes from our air BnB so we decided to stop in. We came on a Thursday and my boyfriend and I had the whole place to ourselves ! It was really nice ! Mind you, it is slower during the winter season. Jay from Stever hill vineyards took care of us! He gave us recommendations of other great wineries in the area as well as great food options. Jay gave us a map of the Finger lakes region and where to go for all the yummy wine! He was fantastic! He also let me taste a free sample of another sweet wine! Remarkable service! I ordered the sweet wine pair with chocolate "flight" and my boyfriend ordered a blueberry cider. Everything we tried was so tasty and delicious! I bought some wine to go as well. On a recent trip up the west side of Keuka Lake, we discovered Stever Hill Vineyards. It was a pleasant discovery with chololate and cheese pairings which really added to the palette of our wine tasting trip. Stever Hill is for certain a small winery. They are family owned, and they are quaint. It is not a large operation, but that adds to their charm. The tasting room is "just a barn" as other reviews have said, but it had been beautifully renovated and has a charm and appeal. I enjoyed their wines. Though I am no connoisseur of wines, the wines I tasted were varied and pleasant and were pairs well with the chocolates. Prices for a tasting were reasonable, better than some of the bigger places down the road, and the $10 for 6 wines and 4 chocolates seemed very reasonable to me. 4 wines are chosen and paired with locally made chocolates, and then you can choose two additional wines to sample. Our visit was at the end of the day, and we weren't quite talkative any more, so we didn't engage with the lady behind the bar... But she seemed friendly and was informing other guests about the wines and their vineyard. The gentleman at the cash register was friendly, and I talked to him a bit and enjoyed the short conversation. Every other Saturday they have music and he said he place can get to be hoppin' with listeners out on the deck and tasters inside. Wine prices are reasonable as well. Don't be fooled by the 3 stars. If you're looking for good wine, Stever Hill has got that. If you're looking for good service, go somewhere else. There's steep competition in the Fingerlakes, so you'd think everyone would have their customer service hats on to keep you coming. Stever Hill seems to have misplaced theirs. We showed up and were the only ones there. We could find a single person inside. After awkwardly wandering around for 5-10 minutes someone care in from outside and noticed us. The person who did wait on us seemed annoyed that we were there as though we were interrupting their day. The wine was great but the conversation and explanation of the wine was incredibly short and minimal. Had the service been better, we would've bought a case. However, the service was such a turn off that we decided to wait to buy elsewhere. read more

My husband and I visited the Finger Lakes for a long weekend and stopped by many wineries along Keuka Lake. This was by far one of our favorites. Let me preface - we both enjoy full bodied red wines or a a dry/oaky white. Stever Hill had everything we were looking for - great view, flavorful wine and personable staff. They may not have a view of Keuka Lake but the view of the vineyard on their large deck is just as pleasant in early fall. We enjoyed a generous cheese plate and two glasses of the Old Barn Red on more than one occasion while in town. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. If you're a red fan, the Old Barn Red (award winning) and the St Croix were our faves - bottles are very reasonable as well. The Traminette (a dryer white wine) was very good as well. First time here from out of state. I wanted a sweet wine that I could not get at home. Walked in '& was greeted, shown to a table & given a menu. No explanation. I am by myself & don't want an entire flight just to figure out if I like any wines. Asked for just a "swallow" of a couple. No. Our friends offered me a sip of theirs but when I asked for my own glass, she laughed! Apparently she does not know how to respond to actual questions. I walked out without purchasing anything. We went for tastings yesterday on Keuka Lake and it will probably be our last time. All the prices for tastings were $10 and they all had pre determined flights, as opposed to letting us taste what we want considering the cost of the tastings. Most wineries did allow us to change things, but Stever Hill didn't and the person who told us that said it was because they were too busy. We were the only people in the tasting room and he was as rude as hell as he said it to us. We're older and have money to spend and we know our wines, so it was important to us to get what we wanted as opposed to a pre determined selection of wines. It made us think twice as to how a business that went through a tumultuous financial year would not be more flexible to make money and make their customers happy. We ended up leaving and won't be back; no one should be treated the way we were. read more

Stopped in to Stever Hill Vineyards while we were camping in the nearby Keuka State Park. Quiet little place off the path of the Keuka Wine Trail, around the corner from Hunt Country. Since we were camping, we brought our small dog with us, and the winery had no issues with us bringing him inside! Beverages: Tastings were available $5 for 6 tastings, or if you wanted wine or beer by the glass that was also an option. We did the tasting and everything we tried (there were 5 of us in the group) was good. There was not one wine we wanted to pour out! Since we can't find this wine brand back home, we all walked out with about 2 bottles each. View: the view was incredible from the outside deck area. Beautiful view and seating outside that would allow you to enjoy the area on a warm day. They were in the process of setting up for a wedding while we were there; such a pretty setting Overall: Definitely will go back again when in the area! read more

We were in the Finger Lakes Region for our anniversary, and stopped at Stever Hill because it was one of the wineries that were open until 5 PM. They were so friendly and accommodating! Loved sitting in the gazebo outside surrounded by fields of grapes and other crops. The white wines seemed to be better in this region. We particularly enjoyed the traminette (white and fruity - very flavorful) here. You can buy cheese and crackers from their little fridge to you're a bit pecking - they'll give you cutting boards and utensils as needed. Very friendly staff. Check them out! read more

When I found this winery on a map, I thought that I maybe found a diamond in the rough but it just turned out to be all rough. The ""winery" is little a barn on the property of a family's house. The tasting area is a rather large island that is in a big room in the barn. When we came to taste it was pretty busy and I don't think the winery has seen such traffic in a while. I kept on hearing the parents yelling out to their little son to get another bottle of wine that people wanted to purchase. As soon as I saw some of the cheesy names they had for a few of their wines, like Redneck Riley's, Cooper's Pink and Old Barn Red, the tasting would be bad. I'm a sucker for purchasing wine after I've been to just one winery, but that didn't happen here. You can skip this place and go to Hunt Country instead! read more

We stopped by this weekend bright and early when the winery opened and we were greater politely and sat right away. the person helping us was so nice and gave us great suggestions and let us try some new wines which we purchased! I also agree with Brian's review. I visited this winery and really enjoyed their wine. I ordered and payed for 6 bottles of wine to be shipped to my home in California and it has now been well over a month since visiting the winery and I still don't have the wine I paid already paid for. Additionally, I ordered from Hunts as well and received it within 2 weeks of my purchase. Never again will I order from this winery as I still don't have what I paid for. Beautiful new deck, redoing the exterior, interior beautiful. Staff was very nice and explained the wines and history of the winery (under new ownership sine August 2013) and her families grape growing. Old Barn Red was very interesting, bought a bottle. Give this place a try! Their Mae Rose is their top seller - sweet but not cloying and would be good as a slushie or with strawberry shortcake. read more

I have to disagree with the 2 reviews above. We visited Stever Hill twice. Once during a tour of Keuka Lake wineries and once again when my husband and I visited the Finger Lake region for our anniversary. Yes. They are just set up in an old barn. Yes. It's a mom and pop operation. But, personally that appeals to me far more than some of your bigger vineyards & wineries. I don't like every wine they make. But, then again, the same holds true of every other place we visited. We bought a bottle of the Old Barn Red '04 and brought it home with us. We just opened this last night and so far it is my favorite wine that we brought home with us from the Fingerlakes. It outshines a lot of the wines we brought back from some of the more commercial wineries. read more

First timer at stever hill this past weekend, and definitely anxious to go back ... They have gone under new management, based on previous reviews sounds like that is a good thing. Beautifully restored barm, I think from 1840? Energetic and happy people pouring and engaging in conversation, very welcoming environment. I thoroughly enjoyed the dry whites and red... Unfortunately I can't speak to the sweet. Their white blend is insane... Unique and well made! Semi dry Riesling is definitely a keeper. read more

However, every time I've come here, the person serving my tasting has been unenthusiastic and given very little information. I'm stunned by any poor reviews, but am so happy they didn't deter me from coming in! As we talked about the vineyard's history with the woman behind the bar, she told us that it recently changed ownership so that may have something to do with it. We had such a fantastic time at Stever Hill. We went in for a tasting on a frigid day and the woman who poured for us was friendly and super knowledgable. We had a lot of fun just talking to her, beyond the obvious benefit of drinking good wine. She took an interest in our wine preferences and taught us about what we were drinking. When she referenced a wine that she thought we would like and I said I hadn't heard of it, she opened a new bottle for us to try... And she was right - we loved it enough to buy it. It's obvious that the new owners are putting a lot of time and money into making this place something special. It is a family owned business and the grapes are actually their own, which isn't always the case around here. I liked some of their wines more than others - but that is always how it goes! We have visited this Winery several time and although not as slick and fancy as some of the others, their wines are great. The reds better than most and we have been to about 50 fingerlakes wineries. I came across this little winery on one of my travel nurse assignments. I had decided to take a drive and stop at a few of the many wineries along the way, and I was very glad I did. Maybe my taste is not "refined" as some would say, but both my husband and I enjoy sweet wines, and Stever Hill has some of the most pleasant sweet wines we have ever tasted. Our favorite is Maes Rose, but I do love Kelleys Concord as well. I enjoyed visiting as it was a bit like visiting family and friends. The owners made us feel right at home and welcome. I am looking forward to when we can come back for a visit and bring home some nice wine, the likes of which I have not found any where else in all my travels. read more
