At the cemetary, as the priest blessed the coffin, I recognized that the funeral home embossed the wrong name on the outside of my father's coffin! There was nothing I could do at that moment because of distraught family members. If I were there alone, I would have stopped the burial! Instead, I immediately contacted the funeral home. To this day, four months later, Matt and the funeral home have not corrected the problem. I have called a number of times. I would NOT recommend this funeral home because of their insincerity and refusal to take responsibility for their mistake. The idea of my father's coffin having the wrong name on it makes me crazy on a daily basis. My father has gone to meet his Maker in a coffin with a mistake that will stay there virtually forever. Shame on you, Matt!

I talked with many different funeral directors and the area and we're glad we decided to go with the Pizzis. Michael fully supported us in carrying out my father's wishes: no embalming, a closed casket Catholic funeral mass, and our family accompanying him to the cremation. He patiently answered our questions throughout the process, and showed up with things we needed but hadn't prepared - a cross for the casket, a sign in guestbook for the memorial, a grave marker for his burial site. I also felt better knowing that my dad would stay at the Pizzi's funeral home in Northvale until the mass and cremation, rather than being sent to other facilities or funeral homes. We felt cared for and supported by the Pizzis throughout this process.

I had to call the office three times to get answers to my questions. The first call went to a full voicemail, so you can't leave a message. The second call went through, and she quickly put me on hold for 10 minutes. While I understand that the office can get busy, if you're going to make someone wait on the phone for more than 5 minutes, shouldn't you let them know? I ended up making the third call on my mother's phone to see if I could get through to the office while my phone call was on hold. Jackie picked up the phone within seconds, and finally, I was able to ask my questions. But I'm honestly left dissatisfied. My mother has called this cemetery before and told me that the receptionist is a little rude, but she thought that maybe it was because English is not her first language. However, I grew up in America, so I don't think my communication was an issue, but I think that's just who Jackie is as a person. I honestly wonder how long I would have been on hold for if that third call from my mother's phone didn't go through. I couldn't ask other questions because my whole interaction felt incredibly rushed, and it's upsetting because this is our first time setting up a grave for our loved one. Please be kinder.
