Alan Johnson is a truly skilled carpenter, and he is deserving of high praise for the excellent…read moreresults he consistently produces. Today he built a rail system for the walkway leading up to my porch. I have this year developed serious problems with walking ability due to health issues, and Alan this morning built the railings I hired him to create because I need railings for safety. The railing system Alan built is beautiful and very sturdy with strong posts and white railings. Alan also installed second railings in the walls beside the in-door stairs leading up from the first to the second floors. The railings look very nice and are strong and sturdy. I sincerely appreciate the carpentry talents of Alan Johnson. He has done several carpentry jobs for Bill and me since 2021, and whether small jobs or larger jobs, his work never disappoints.

He showed up as I was running out the door to an appt. He said he could fix it while i was gone and he did just that! Sent me photos of the door. I asked him to meet me at my appt which was 15 mins away so I could pay him. He charged me a very reasonable price and when I got home I saw that he did and excellent job on the storm door. He added some extra screws. We get crazy wind and weather and now I don't have to worry about the door falling off and glass all over the place. Nixon is very professional and trustworthy and knows his craft!

I hope I'm using the right Mr. Handyman from the Norwalk area, but my experience was anything but…read more Contacted them to do a simple install of a wall mount for a TV. Got a quote sounded within reason (about $150 I think) and scheduled. Due to a snow storm we had to reschedule which is not their fault at all. The day the worker showed up I had it alll taped up where the mount should sit- where the studs were located. Realistically I could have done the job, but with investing in one of the first super high def, 85" TV in an apartment, I wanted the safety that it was professionally installed and if by some chance this tore out of the wall and destroyed a few thousand dollar TV- I wasn't on the hook. Guy showed up, never installed a mount before. Said he started with them only weeks ago and proceeded to sit on the floor reading the manual 3-4 times, taking all the bolts and screws out. Spent probably 3 hours prepping himself. Then he didn't have a tool he needed. We had to reschedule again. Second time, he was so nervous he called a buddy to help him (on his own dime) to make sure he was doing it correctly. we got the TV up and mounted (HEAVY) and he told me the bill was for about $500.00. The repairman couldn't have been nicer and he was brand new and didn't want to lose his job. I explained, I'm in no way upset with him, but for management to send out someone who never did this work before, underquoted me, and then place him in the position to do something he's uncomfortable with was unacceptable. I was on teh phone with i assume the manager for some time where he was basically telling me I was trying to skate out of the bill. We finally negotiated a price which I knew was going to be disputed right after the call. Happy to pay the quote, but not for someone to read instructions and burn 3 hours over 2 days trying to figure 1 TV mount. I gave the worker a good tip because it wasn't his fault and I truly felt bad for him as he was really trying hard to do it right. When I asked for a receipt from him, he said they never gave him any receipt book (Whole purose of the job) But I will NEVER use them again. I warn others to have a written estimate with a addendum that no additional fees are authorized without written documented reason.

He climbed ladders, got on the roof, crawled into crawl spaces, and took pictures every step of the way. I especially appreciate how he took the time to educate me along the way, giving patient and in-depth explanations of the issues we came across. It was very helpful to know which items were serious and which were just cosmetic. He sent his report to me the very next day. It was organized and full of highlighted pictures and descriptions of the issues. I shared Danny's report with the sellers and was able to get them to agree to some costly repairs. The smaller issues in his report that were not fixed by the sellers will serve as a great to-do list for me in my next couple of years of home ownership. I highly recommend Danny Land for home inspections.
