They said that they would not be able to do a regular cleaning and I would need a deep cleaning for $150. They refused to do my Regular cleaning which is included. I did not want to pay an additional $150 but decided to due it anyway because of the sales pressure from the staff. I had no cavities... I had a follow up visit on January 29, 2019. They did my regular cleaning. They advised me that I have extra build up and should come every 3 months for a regular cleaning to help with the build up. But once again, I have no cavities. I told them my insurance only covers 2 cleanings a year which is what I will be doing. She said okay no problem. I called yesterday to set up an appointment for my 6 month cleaning & the receptionist said she read the notes and I will need to come in every 3 months for a cleaning. I explained that for 30 years, I have been doing regular cleanings every 6 months with no issues. She said she didn't care what I have done in the past, it was a requirement from their office. I told her I wanted to schedule a regular cleaning (which my insurance pays for.) She said she would make the appointment but the depending on what the Dental Hygienist said, they might require a deep cleaning (additional $150.) I told her I didn't want that. She said "well if that's what they recommend, that's what we will do. We will not give you a regular cleaning" Here is a picture of my teeth!! While on vacation, part of my tooth broke off. I called this office first thing Monday morning as a brand-new patient, and they got me in immediately. After a thorough exam and X-rays, the dentist confirmed I had a significant cavity that required a root canal and crown. Needless to say, I was not happy. I was in pain having a hard time eating the office graciously rearranged their schedule and fit me in that very afternoon. From the moment I walked in, every member of the staff treated me with kindness, patience, and genuine compassion. They listened carefully to my concerns about my heart and never once made me feel like I was overreacting. Instead, they took the time to explain everything and adjusted my treatment plan by avoiding epinephrine because of my medical history. The doctor was absolutely incredible. When it came time to numb the area, I honestly did not feel the injection. I was amazed. Even without epinephrine--which I know makes the procedure more challenging for the dentist--he made the entire experience as comfortable as possible. I walked into this office expecting one of the worst days ever and left feeling amazed. The professionalism, compassion, skill, and genuine care shown by the entire team exceeded every expectation I had. I am so grateful I found this practice. The injection for the filling left me with Parasthesia. I called the office early in the morning two days later to inform the doctor and was told that he was with a patient and would get back to me. Hours later, I made a second call and got the same response. Eventually, I received a call, but not from the doctor. One of his staff called to ask me why I wanted to speak with the doctor. I thought this was odd, but I told them I had a medical issue from the visit and needed to speak directly to the doctor. The staff member told me again that the doctor was busy and would call me back. After no call hours later, I went to the office in person and was told the doctor was out to lunch. When I inquired why a doctor would be too busy to call a distressed patient and then go to lunch, the receptionist in a contemptuous tone told me, "We do allow him to have lunch". I respectfully told her that her statement was both insulting and rude. The woman, whom I believe to be the office manager, brought me into a room, and the doctor miraculously appeared. Dr. Shwartz stated that he was too busy and would've eventually called. After informing him of my condition, he basically said that the condition usually resolved itself over time, but could be permanent in rare cases. He provided no information on when I should be concerned or on any recommended follow-up. I had to return two weeks later to have the crown installed, but between the two visits, I received no contact from the doctor. When I returned for the crown, a technician did the work, and the doctor didn't come in to check on the crown or my Parastesia. To add Insult to Injury, I was charged another $708.50 on top of the $818.10 I had already paid. They said Insurance denied the claim. I was under the impression that they checked for clearance ahead of the service. A good doctor is not based on how they react when things are going well; it's how they respond when things go wrong that makes them good or bad.

My experience with the actual dentist was extremely pleasant and he explained everything going on with my teeth in a way I could easily comprehend. However, afterwards the reception staff was a nightmare. I had to be a constant mediator between them and the insurance company. After months of back and forth they received their payment from the insurance for the cleaning but it was such a hassle I've never encountered. Such a shame to walk away from them but I don't have 3 months after I get my cleaning to instruct them on how to deal with insurance companies. I'm still not sure about the real issue of why I had to heavily get involved but nonetheless I've decided to just make the long drive to my old dentist office for my cleaning.
