Most kids fear the doctor or the dentist or even the orthodontist...but it's impossible to fear Dr. Gilbertson. I think I've been coming to this office for about eight years now. I've had two sets of braces, multiple palate expanders, and I've needed to wear sets of rubber bands a few times. Needless to say, I'm experienced. The ladies in the office are always kind and friendly and do their best to remember each patient's story. The appointment process is quick and easy, and it's very simple to change appointment times (like when they're made way too early in the morning). Recently, I pretty much ruined my plastic retainers by placing them in hot water. I called a few places in Santa Barbara and they wanted to charge me $580 for new retainers. I called Gilbertson's office to ask what could be done and they gave me a price of $360. The receptionist gave me an appointment for the following day and I had molds taken and orders for new retainers sent within a day's time. Dr. Gilbertson is even mailing the retainers since I no longer live nearby. I'll go out of my way and drive a few extra hours to see Dr. Gilbertson. If you're looking for someone who cares about his patients, he is the orthodontist for you. read more

While traveling thru California my son's brace wire began to irritate his mouth. We needed an orthodontist to cut the wire in order to stop it from poking his inner cheek. We were staying with family in Santa Clarita and they recommended Dr Gilbertson. So we called the office and they were more than accommodating! They got us in right away and not only took care of the wire but also made sure everything else was intact. The entire office staff was very welcoming and Dr Gilbertson was very hospitable. My son loves going to Dr. Gilbertson! I was originally planning on taking my son to Dr. Pair but I couldn't get a definite price on what his braces were going to cost. I went to Dr. Gilbertson and they had a contract drawn up with multiple ways to pay and went over everything with me. His staff is great with kids and very friendly. They are like a family here and they treat you like you're apart of it. They have multiple contests for the kids throughout the year and even put on a holiday event in December. I don't recall her ever having to spend much time in the waiting room. I went to Dr. Gilbertson for my Orthodontic work several years back as an adult and was so impressed with his treatment and my results! Unfortunately, I didn't wear my retainers and now my teeth have begun to shift. I contacted Dr. Gilbertson and he offered me a very reasonable price and option for invisalign or traditional braces. My son has also gone to Dr. Gilbertson and recently has gotten his braces off. He has never once complained about going and has enjoyed the monthly opportunities to win a prize for just being a valued patient. Besides the Dr. being outstanding; the whole office is welcoming and very professional. On our scheduled appointments, we are never left waiting to be seen. I have also attended the annual patient appreciation day and have felt my son and my whole family were recognized by staff and truly appreciated. I also need to mention that they "get" kids and keep parents informed. They have a Facebook site that is always changing and keeping the kids engaged. Their website is informative and they also send office reminders and other important information via e-mail but never spam. I have seen other Orthodontic sites and they really don't get social networking which is where the teens are all about! Without hesitation, I recommend Dr. Gilbertson and his whole office! read more

I don't often write reviews on Yelp.....However Dr. Gilbertson's office has impressed me on so many occasions that I can no longer bottle up my enthusiasm for him....his impressive work and this particular office. The office staff (never without a smile) are always attentive and caring....the minute you walk in the door. Not sure but they may be telepathic as well....or at least, they seem to be.(To me anyways) Both of my children have had concerning dental complications prior to coming to this office....since......we started them on there individual courses of braces...now....we all can breath a sigh of relief, and see the light at the end of the dental tunnel....Along with the compliments the kids get for their teeth instead of an apprehensively shy smile from being self-concious of their overlapping teeth. Just stopped in the office today for a quick wire-adjustment(without an appointment) and was out with my delighted child in under 5 minutes. Try that at any other dental office. Our twin boys just finished their ortho treatments with Dr. G. He and his staff have provided fantastic care every step of the way! Dr. Gilbertson followed our boys for at least two years (no charge) prior to starting treatment and was able to work with us on pricing since we had two going thru the process at the same time. One of our boys even had to go thru two treatment phases! We can't speak highly enough about the care our boys received with Dr. G! We will and have recommended him to many of our friends. We were referred to Dr. Gilbertson by our Pediatric Dentist. We have been seeing Dr. G for just over 2 years now, and my daughter just had her braces removed at the beginning of the month. Her smile looks beautiful!! :) Our experience with this office was excellent from start to finish. At the beginning when we were first getting started, they were very thorough about explaining the various options with types of braces, as well as walking me through numerous payment options. The interest-free option was great, and much appreciated!! We saw them about every 6 weeks over the 2 year period, and never once had to wait for our appointment. They always take her right back, work on her and get her out of there in about 20 minutes. They are also great about squeezing us in when we had the occasional broken bracket. The entire staff is very helpful and friendly, and I love all the little extras touches to recognized the kids and try and make the experience fun (colored rubber bands, monthly give-aways, photo wall, etc.) This office is simply the best! read more

There are plenty of other good offices to choose from but I know that once they meet Dr. G and his staff they won't want to go anywhere else. I have two sons that have both been to Dr. Gilberston's office and we have had a great experience. My oldest son only needed minor movements that could be accomplished with a retainer. My youngest is a whole different story! He needed major work! As a dentist myself, I found the process of fixing all of his issues to be well thought out and the journey was actually enjoyable for my son and me. The staff in this office is very nice and friendly but my problem is that I took my daughter in over 1yr ago for a consultation and because we decided to start the two boys before her (at another office) we had to hold of on my daughter..so now we are ready to get her started. I contacted Dr. Gilbertsons office to schedule a consultation letting them know that it was over 1yr since she had one with them if she needed to start all over again the girl on the phone said it should all still e ok but they will have Dr. see her again just in case anything has changed.. I thought their price was a bit high so I thought I would try to negotiate with them when I would go in.. So they kindly scheduled the best appointment convenient for us and we went in.. I waited in the lobby expecting them to come out and call me to go through the financial, and treatment process but this did not happen.. What happened.. my daughter came out with the assistant who proceeded to explain about the 8 spacers they just put in her!!!! I was blown away.. first of all I never signed any documentation.. I never went through the financial aspect of things and they got started on her.. I was really disappointed they did this.. their price is $2,000 higher than the office we currently have our two boys going to.. the only problem with this that office its that its a bit far and we thought if we stayed local so she could walk to her follow ups on her own.. She now has her drivers permit and because of the disappointment with this office (if they got her started without my consent what else will they do to her) we decide to save $2,000 and take her elsewhere... we were recommended o this office by a friend who was happy with their service, the office staff is nice and courteous but them doing this gave me a lot to think about . read more
