Since they were available when we needed them and they were very accommodating on phone we decided to give them a shot and cross fingers. This was a major and risky 3 large tree removal job tight between two houses. They took amazing care of the properties and brought in significant equipment to make the job as easy as possible, for a not-easy job! They not only performed skillful and flawlessly, but they went as far as preserving very close ornamental trees! It top it off, they not only cleaned up all of the mess from both properties, including decks, etc. but they also blew all of the leaves from each yard and took it all away!! If you want a budget house with low to medium end fixtures, these are fairly well built. We did not…read morewant a budget home but instead chose modular for the superior construction (built inside) and the convenience of not having to depend on weather in the Northeast. We wanted a base on which to build a custom house of high quality. We got none of what we expected. The house was many months late anyway. It seemed well constructed but feels cheap inside with hollow doors and poor insulation between room. The top end cabintry offered is low end. The oak is a mix of white and red and is all differnent grains and color. We painted them. The worst part is the contractor, Segalla, offered custom finishes such as building a deck and covered patio. Unfortunately, all of that was a disaster. The deck and cover area were not designed well or at the same time. The porch cover looks like an after thought- poorly engineered while still expensive and far to small an area to shield from rain. Do not expect any help with details. I asked the contractor to look over all the fixture purchases to make sure they fit. He just neglected to do so. He never asked for a permit for our wood stove. I ordered all the windows but of course ran the order by Segalla. Nobody noticed that the order was written for the wrong depth!! So that had to be corrected on site but is much less attractive than what I wanted. So either hire an architect on your own because no enginneering service is available (more money) or expect to be on you own with Segalla. You have to do all you site work as well (we did all that coordination) . As well some of the suppliers we had to use did poor quality installations. Our solid wood floors have gaps and rough cut edges. This was the biggest financial mistake I have ever made. I am trying to fix all that is wrong, but it is costing litterally as much as the house itself as to fix . Do this after is twice as expensive as doing it right the first time. I literally hate our house.

My mother and I recently purchased the Concord home from Westchester Modular Homes and were…read moreinitially happy with the process of working with the salesperson and builder who distributes their homes, BUT after the house was delivered the customer service to fix problems with the home has been completely unacceptable. We purchased the home from Westchester because there were good reviews about their homes and their customer service, which I'm now questioning the accuracy of those reviews and felt compelled to leave what might be a more honest review and assessment of their modular homes for other buyers who may be considering their company. They talked about being a family run and employee owned company that cares about their product, which was a great sales pitch, but talk is cheap and action costs money, which they apparently don't want to do to fix problems with their homes once they are delivered. When contacted to resolve the problems, they stated that it's their policy to have all contact about the home to go through the builder, even though the builder had nothing to do with the problems, which were from the manufacturing process at their facility. Let me repeat that... the company refused to talk with us directly after they sold us the house! They essentially washed their hands of anything to do with the house. This was something the builder wasn't even happy about. He was upset that they were putting it all on him, even though he had nothing to do with the manufacturing process that caused the problems. The problems were things that were manufactured incorrectly (windows out of plumb and level so they don't shut properly) and others were "How they install/build" things like siding and roofing that they consider "done well enough" but are not even considered proper standard building practices. For example, they expected the builder on-site, after the home was delivered to "pull up the shingles and slide" the 8" wide drip edge under the roofing shingles and then nail down the drip edge after the whole roof was shingled. The standard building practice and proper way to install a roof with drip edge is to put the drip edge on first, nail it down, then put ice and water shield over the drip edge, and finally, install the roofing shingles over the ice and water shield. When this was pointed out, they would not fix the problem and claimed that their roofing method was fine! The house came with vinyl cedar shakes installed on the house without the outside and inside vinyl corner boards installed. They expected the outside and inside corner boards to be installed on-site, which was not able to be done because in order to do so, the siding needed to be taken off in order to nail the corner board flanges down and then slide the vinyl cedar shakes into the channel of the corner boards. This, again, was done backwards and incorrectly. If this was their installation method, they should have just shipped the siding loose and had it all installed on-side rather than charging to have some of it installed only to have it taken off to be able to install all the corner boards correctly. Our builder took one look at the home and pointed out all these things that he would have to do, essentially working backwards in order to move forward, which we would have to pay him to complete! There were many other issues, such as using 2 x 6 roof rafters that would not allow for enough fiberglass insulation to meet R38 code so we had to spray foam (at 3x the cost), and the already mentioned window that was not plumb and square (installed crooked) so that my 78 year old mother could not open and close it because it was so stiff from rubbing against the frame. Westchester told the builder to tell us that the window will be fine... it will "settle" into place over time! BUYER BEWARE! They are a company that claims to take care of their customers, but they do not! If you're looking for quality modular home, find another company that stands by their product!
