I also felt that they are getting the pricing 'right' now; can't tell if they stood still while prices overall went up, or if they are more reasonable now; everything looks good now. Interior very tasteful - actually I like it so much that i'd almost (almost only) prefer it to sitting outside in the summer, given its parking lot facing location. My gripe would be pizza sizes ... no longer served on wooden boards but regular plates, they have gotten simply too small. One shouldn't leave a pizza restaurant still feeling a little hungry. And - come on - pizza ingredients aren't exactly expensive.

After an rainy afternoon spending in Blankenese, me and my friend Kat desperately needed a place to shelter as we were soaked... Fischclub seemed to be ideal, as we enjoyed a beautiful view over the elbe on the right side, and Blankenese perched on a hill on our left side. The hot chocolate was delicious and the apple-curry soup was extremely tasteful, unexpected though. The place wasnt crowded, but you could probably blame the weather for that.. On the background nice jazz tunes, great service, and nicely decorated with darkwooden tables, candles and flowers. Despite the bad weather, we had a pretty cultural evening although we were inside a restaurant... What can I say...this place is great! Tasteful, ón the Elbe, at the beach, in Blankenese, with industrial boats floating by as you have dinner by candlelight. It is hard to miss this spot since it is one of the few floating dining options near the beach (Strand). Once inside, you will discover it is a more a fine dining experience than a mere fish kitchen. I have eaten here several times and have enjoyed my meals particularly the shell fish options such as mussels or crab claw with shrimp appetizers. The view is nice of the river when weather is beautiful and many local families from Blankenese do Sunday brunches here. The best thing to do after or before the meal is to walk the Treppenviertel on the hillside. The steps can either end near this restaurant for lunch or begin here after your meal and a strong desire to get a bit of exercise and pretty views of all the homes, gardens and lovely yards you will discover on the staircase path. I like to come here during a day trip away from the center of things. I usually take the train S.Bahn since it takes about 20min from city center to Blankenese, but if you are visiting and have time or a local looking for a nice ride along the Elbe, I suggest either taking the bus up ElbeChausse or the Ferry from Landungsbrücken, which takes around 45min or so, depending on if you catch all the connections consecutively at each dock.

The anti-climatic was the main dish - a chicken breast in hollandaise sauce. It was just OK. But everything else was top notch. Service was spotty. Meals came out very erratically and what should have been a 2 hour meal turned into a 4 hour marathon. But I really liked the food and the vibe. A little polish on the service and it will be first rate.
