I used to take my daughter there to see Stephanie Jennings. I did like Jennings. She was....assertive. I didn't mind it because I can be too, but my duaghters mom did. You can imagine why. Anywho, I'm upset and annoyed that SFP stopped accepting insurance. My first reaction was to leave a one star review, but that would not be fair. I believe they have their reasons. Many insurance companies do not align with, or support the type of care SFP provides. I do. After reading the negative reviews, I noticed a consistent theme: people felt disrespected, inconvenienced, or emotionally frustrated. That reaction is understandable. No one likes wasted time, and appointments should be honored. Personally, I have not experienced delayed appointments. What has changed is that appointments are harder to get, and that is worth asking why. Some reviewers were upset about receiving results over the phone. I actually prefer that. Preferences differ, and that matters. Could bedside manner improve? Yes. I agree with that criticism, and I won't defend it. There is room for improvement. That said, let's consider the nature of this practice. Imagine a doctor telling patients that improvement requires an alternative protocol: supplements, timing, lifestyle changes, and long-term commitment. No magic pill. No instant results. Some patients respond with "that's too much," "that's too expensive," or "I can't do that." If a practitioner truly believes in their protocol and practices with integrity, it is reasonable to say: if you are unwilling to follow it, this may not be the right place for you. Health requires time, effort, and maintenance. Proactive care is very different from reactive care. That difference often separates one star reviews from five star reviews. So ask yourself: why do people choose this practice? Is the alternative better, or simply more familiar? Where do your values lie? Are you proactive about your health, willing to research and participate in your care, or do you expect doctors to have every answer while making you feel comfortable along the way? This is an alternative practice for people who are dissatisfied with mainstream medicine. It is not for everyone. No doctor, primary care provider, alternative practitioner, or specialist has all the answers. That is precisely why SFP blends approaches, though it clearly leans more alternative than conventional. Choose wisely. Do your research. Think critically. As for service: service is declining everywhere, not just here. Expectations are high, patience is low, and social media amplifies dissatisfaction. This place comes highly recommended... people absolutely love them. Then they stopped taking insurance. Which I get , insurance puts up too much of a fight, they lose too much money. So now, you're paying out of pocket. But they are still trying to run like they take insurance. Ridiculous long wait times. Like insanely rude long wait times... online tele visits... Dr was over 30 minutes late and didn't even apologize. Every time I've been in that office, ppl are pissed, asking how much longer. You have the front desk girls loudly gossiping, then when someone gets upset about waiting they shift to talking in Spanish. They do actually take their time, you don't feel rushed, they listen... But I think they need a system and put the patient first, our time is valuable.... Our money is precious! read more

Awful!! I started with Dr. Fletcher then passed on Cynthia Yew, then two other physicians/stand-in nurses, then Jennifer Wilson who didn't stay more than a couple of months. I was waiting for my biopsy to come back from a pathologist, I called to get my results, and the receptionist sent them to me via email, based on my results as being positive for cancer I should have never received the news this way and they should have informed me that a doctor would get back to me. This being said, I saw I was positive for cancer, not knowing what stage, or how serious as I am not a physician and knew not how to read the results other than to google them. An hour and a half later, I called again and Cynthia Yew had someone tell me yes your results are positive and you should see an Oncologist! Who passes the information on like this to a cancer patient? and the person giving me the results could not tell me anything more about the results, she was not a professional. Furious and emotional, understandable, stress I didn't need on top of finding out partial results, my Oncologist was very apologetic for this behavior and read me my results as they should have been from Cynthia. I like this practice. My children and I see Cynthia Yew. She gives me sound advice every time. Whether it is to take ashwaganda for stress or to follow up with a specialist for something more complicated. She also helped me with my dry eyes by mentioning I might need zinc. They always get us in same-day when it's an emergency too. read more

She is DANGEROUS. she is a danger to public. She is against any vaccination and immunization. Her approach is that one has to get the disease and if one survived the gets immunity. SERIOUSLY? Their front desk staff is rude and unprofessional!! They have no idea how to treat patients. I've been waiting since December to be seen as a new patient and just today cancelled my appointment because of how terrible the front staff is. This practice has been highly recommended by so many people but I'm not sure why. Zero starts if I could. I spoke to someone named Alex who said he was the office manager and explained my frustration and anger. They get to know you like family here, and you are treated with kindness, respect, dignity, and great care. They offer a wide range of treatment options and provide you with tons of informtaion. They handle the basic cold to complex chronic conditions such like I have...and they do it all with great compassion and skill. Overall, I'm not satisfied with the duty-of-care provided by this medical facility. I've read other reviews on Yelp and I've experienced similar instances over the years. For example, I felt that the front office could improve in many areas and also feel they are simply not engaged in assisting patients. I also feel that their customer service is sub-par. There were a few folks that were pleasant and helpful, but overall I'm not satisfied. One particular item that made me feel uncomfortable over the years is the chatter/gossip I could overhear from the front office regarding other patients....unprofessional at best. I made an appointment as a new patient. I waited one hour and 10 minutes to see Nazaneen Nassiry. I have had Jessica recommended by several people, but there is a 2 month wait to see her; my hope was that she was representative of the quality of care in the practice. HUGE MISTAKE. There was no apology for the ridiculous wait time, and after literally taking my pulse and listening to my breathing, I was told "we're all good, you're fine". I was absolutely shocked; none of my symptoms or concerns were addressed in any way. I was so upset that I left the office in tears. Despite a phone call and an email to the office nearly a week ago, no one has reached out to me. Worst experience I've ever had in a doctor's office. read more

Jessica Scalzo is amazing. The rest seem to be in a rush and try to get you out of there when you have any questions. Because Jessica is the best, she is seen by almost every patient so it can take up to two hours to see her even when you call in advance. Honestly, there is probably a waiting list for new patients to see her. It's nuts. Pros: - Jessica will go above and beyond to figure out what's wrong with you. She orders blood work that most doctors don't order but should. She's also an OBGYN. Cons: - There is not enough staff. - Can't get a hold of anyone when i have a question or scheduling concern. - I've been on hold for an hour. - They only let you know of test results through the patient portal so the only way to figure out what's going on with you is by signing in. Otherwise, you don't receive a phone call. - walk-ins are close to non-existent because of how long the wait time is. You have better luck at the ER or a walk-in clinic. - They will only give you results in person even if minor. You always have to go in which means a 25-50 dollar copay depending on insurance. read more

I've had good and bad experiences here. Nazim has made numerous references to myself being out of shape, looking at my middle. I've had babies, maybe you don't understand what it does to a woman's body! All doctors/NP's here do not read the forms you take time to fill out and they do not look at your records to understand your health conditions or why you are there. I love Dr. Fletcher. I have not been feeling well for years. I have seen wholistic doctors now for years when I felt the " regular" doctors failed me. Even they failed me until Dr. Fletcher. She actually read my labs which have been out of wack for years and finally diagnosed me! She's an amazing listener too. I felt very comfortable. She genuinely cares like none of the other doctors I have seen. I am so excited to be on board with her. I am confident my health is in safer hands. Definitely looking forward to finally gaining my quality of life back. My children are excited to get their mother back soon and my husband will be getting the biggest gift of all...the woman he married back. This is a great place for Primary Care. The wait times are not long. They give sound advise and don't waist your time. They also have proven to follow through when documentation is needed expediently for referrals or insurance etc. I highly recommend and appreciate making appointment with Cynthia Yew FNP-C. She's approachable, friendly and really works to make sure you goals are realistic and health focused. All the staff is kind and minimal accommodations are needed for myself once established there. Looking forward to continuing having my care there and highly recommend this office and all of the staff whom work hard to make this place run smoothly and efficiently. read more

tl;dr: the NPs/doctors are great. The office staff is not. If I thought I could find another NP as good, I'd quit going to this practice so fast. Five stars for Cindy Yew. One star for the staff. I've been seeing Cindy Yew as my NP for over 15 years, and I absolutely love her. She's been great all along. The office staff, on the other hand... yike. Last week, after struggling to get into the patient portal because they'd mis-spelled my email address - which is my name, so... yeah - I found that there was a (mistaken) BRAIN CANCER diagnosis in my medical records! How did that even get in there?! That's a really big mistake to have made and never noticed?! They've removed it now, but a) it was super scary and b) if this ever comes back to bite me as some kind of pre-existing condition, I will be furious. Meanwhile, every time I need a prescription refilled, something goes wrong. I take a medication that can only be prescribed 30 days at a time, and inevitably they write the scrip (for example) December 10, January 10, February 10. When I point out that there are 30 pills for 31 days, they don't seem to care. When I point out that this means I literally have to run out of meds before I can refill, they don't seem to care. (They don't have to write it this way. The insurance company would let me refill five days early, if the scrips didn't have "do not fill before $date" on them. But no.) The latest time I requested a refill and tried to fill the prescription, the insurance company denied it, and - again - they tried to brush me off when I called to find out what was going on. "It just says denied, it doesn't say why," they said, but I kept asking questions and finally got them to admit that they had written the scrip for the wrong dosage. So, the scrip that I should have filled last week, that I never have extras of in case of emergencies like this, will now get filled a week late, because - even after it got approved - the pharmacy didn't have it in stock, and it's not like I can take it to another pharmacy because it's an electronic transmittal. Doctors' offices should not be this difficult or frustrating. read more

The WORST reception and front office staff plus completely rigid and inconsiderate policies toward their patients. I'm not the only person I know who's left the practice for the same reason. Look elsewhere if you're looking for a patient-centric, patient-friendly practice. In my opinion there are still some major issues with the office staff that I'm still not pleased with but Nazee was kind enough to call me to apologize and explain that they are working things out internally to correct certain behaviors. I still don't know if I will return since I've been burned so many times it's hard for me to trust again, but it's unfair for the medical staff to bear the brunt of a bad review when it's not their fault that the office staff has been treating patients so poorly for so long. So... My last post was unfair... I am an adult and I am not afraid to hold myself accountable for my actions and words. I previously railed against the staff at Sterling Family Practice (sans my favorite healthcare provider in the world Jessica Scalzo and her fantastic nurse also named Jessica).... I was beyond unfair. The front office staff at Sterling Family Practice are, in fact, genuinely wonderful people. They are professionals. And they are human. I had a particularly traumatic day when I wrote my first review and was too proud even in my second edit to give them the credit they deserve... That is my own failure. Not any reflection on them. Quite honestly... The staff are very busy because this practice is very popular. They've grown very fast since I've been a patient there and with growth comes change. But I do not begrudge them their success. They deserve it. The care the physicians give their patients is unparalleled. The physicians ensure they stay current on the latest research in the medical field and leverage this knowledge judiciously in their practice with each individual patient's needs and comfort in mind... Think about that for a moment.... Let it marinate. What I'm saying is that they do not rush you thru. They do not treat you like you're on an assembly line. And they do not go strictly off of some arcane checklist template that doesn't fit your circumstance. They are thoughtful and do their research to ensure you get the best... They're willing to try new things but just as willing to decline your requests if they believe it is not in your best interest. But even in these cases... They fully support the philosophy that the patient is ultimately responsible for their healthcare decisions and should be knowledgeable and provided with information in a palatable and digestible way to ensure these sometimes weighty decisions have the best possible outcome. So back to the staff.... When you have physicians who operate as I've just described for each and everyone of their patients and you have a LOT of patients because that kind of intimate and personal care is so rare nowadays... You need really good and organized folks who have the patience of Abraham and infinite compassion to support them. They have to be able to operate and respond on multiple emotional planes simultaneously and do so in a courteous and unruffled manner. When I wrote my previous rant... I was coming out of a rather tragic and traumatic set of circumstances. I look back and realize now that I fought with everyone I encountered that day. Some gave me a fight back. But the staff at Sterling Family Practice (Lindsey, Alex, and one other I regretfully cannot remember the name)...they offered no fight. They met my pain eye to eye with humanity and kindness. But they would not enable me in my mini temper tantrum at having to wait. They were right. I was in the wrong. They even checked on me later and said nothing but caring and kind words when I was unnecessarily petty and snooty. These folks are good people. Really good people... I now live 2 hours away from Sterling Family Practice but will not be changing doctors. Ever. I don't have to elaborate on why... Anyone who reads this post can easily see why... I love you guys and thank you for loving me when I was unlovable.... read more

I was in a car accident in May and since have had to see multiple doctors. I had been very frustrated with the experiences I was having and slow progress, without many answers, I was having from my treatments. A friend of mine recommended Jessica Scalzo. So with much hesitation I went to see her and I am Soooooooo glad I did! She talked with me and really tried to understand what was going on(and for the first time with all the doctors I had seen, I felt comfortable and confident in her). While I am still seeking treatment for the injuries. I finally feel like progress is being made and my visit was not a waste of time and money. Everyone I interacted with was super nice and friendly and that is again something I could not say about other offices I visited. I was impressed and highly recommend! read more

It concerns me how this place does business, very unethical. I had an annual physical with Dr. Zapp. I was told to call her a week later so that she can go over my bloodwork results on the phone. A week later, I called the office twice but Dr. Zapp only works on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Finally, the scheduling assistant called back and said the results are available but Dr. Zapp wants me to schedule a follow up appointment to review the results with me. I requested a copy of the results but it took another week for me to receive it in the mail. My results showed everything normal but a little low in vitamin D. So I called and asked if I really need to go and see the doctor for those results. I was told that Dr. Zapp insisted that I should go in and if I don't I will have to pay a $50 cancellation fee. This really bothered me because it seems like there's something wrong that the doctor couldn't discuss with me on the phone. So I showed up for my appointment. Dr. Zapp spent less than five minutes with me and told me that I am low in vitamin D. And she suggested that I should buy their vitamin D in 10,000 IU with vitamin K from their office. Oh my God! For real? She made me drove 30 minutes into the office and threaten that I have to pay a $50 cancellation fee if I don't show up so that she can sell me their Vitamin D?! At that moment, she already gave me her confirmation that I should look for another doctor. Their way of conducting business is very unethical. They are basically just trying to milk the insurance. I will never go back this place again. read more

UPDATE 9/10/18: I am updating my review after speaking with Alex, the office manager. Though they don't yet seem to have a way of dealing with the long wait times, he did mention that their office strives to give personalized care to each patient rather than get them in and out and treating them like a number, and to this point I would agree. I never feel rushed when I am seen, so there's the silver lining. He also clarified that the issue with the Patient Portal not showing Jessica Scalzo's name was due to her being on vacation, during which time they temporarily remove the doctor's name, which I also understand. So to be fair to SFP, I wanted to update this information. --------------- I've really wanted to like this place. I really have. But in all the times I've come here, it's been a mostly frustrating experience. The medical care I've received has been great, but that's about it. My kids and I all see NP Jessica Scalzo, and while we love her, almost every single time we've been there we've had to wait nearly an hour past our appointment time. You can imagine how fun that is with very young kids in tow. And when we've had to see other practitioners when Jessica's been unavailable, the wait time was no different so it must be an issue with their whole office. Another frustrating thing has been the roll-out of their patient portal. When they first rolled it out, they announced it in every corner of the office and in ever media platform. I had no need of it until well after a couple months, but when I logged in I found that Sterling Family Practice (one of the LMG offices) was not listed as an option in the portal. I reported this to them and they seemed surprised, and they did fix it, but I wonder why it wasn't until that long after that they were aware of it. Strange. Flash forward to present: I understand it's still relatively new (several months now) and that it takes time to iron out the kinks, but when I logged in today to send a message to Jessica, she does not appear in the provider list. Frustrating to say the least. I don't know whether we will stay at SFP or find another doctor. I really love Jessica and she's very knowledgeable about many issues some other mainstream doctors are not. But I'm not sure the wait times, dragging my kids, and the seemingly disorganized, inefficient office staff are worth it to me. read more

I have to say that I have never had so many problems getting prescriptions refilled as I have ever had with this office. I'm not sure if the breakdown is front office staff or NP's not following thru on paperwork however I am currently searching for a new doctor as I can't handle having to always be the one to follow up on both mine and my husbands meds despite calling or telling them when we are in the office. I saw Dr. Zapp for a while but she was rarely available when I needed to be seen and I wanted consistent care. So I started to see NP Scalzo. I have chronic health issues and rather than referring me to a specialist (or a few), Scalzo ran over a thousand dollars worth of tests on me (all inconclusive). Despite the blood tests showing no food allergies (come to find out those test are not reliable), she wanted me to do an elimination diet (gluten free and other restrictions). And then she wanted to sell me vitamins, directly from their office store. $20 for a 30 supply of probiotics. I went back a few more times but they just kept trying to sell me things. I have since visited multiple specialists under the guidance of my new PCP and have finally found some relief. Guess what? I'm not allergic to gluten. read more

Staff especially Laurie the office manager is very rude and unprofessional Dr Betsy Vasquez hides in her office and never engages with parents or children. It's All About the Money with this doctor she thinks she has enough patience so she can treat other patients like garbage you will be very sorry. Lori the office manager went as far as to tell me on the phone that Dr Betsy Vasquez does not pay her enough. Do not want to get involved in their drama. I had been to numerous doctors for a myriad of issues. Many, such as the neurologists, seemed intent on treating my symptoms rather than trying to determine the cause(s.) After several years, I heard about SFP from some friends who had been dealing with much more serious health concerns; they highly recommended it. My first appointment was with Dr Zapp and it was like no other appointment ever. She had gathered a ton of my past history and proceeded to conduct an hour long interview (or so) and then offered a plan, which included a battery of tests nobody had done in all the years before. We got the results and she asked if I would commit to a plan. A few months later and I no longer have headaches. I sleep deeply and soundly. I'm not all stuffed up anymore. I'm off prescription medicine after being on them for close to 10 years. I lost 18 lbs. And I no longer have energy ups and downs every day; instead, I wake up and Bam! My energy is stable throughout the day. Zapp's approach is what our medical world needs more of...better functional medicine and less acute medicine. read more

I am so sad to be posting a poor review as I like the doctors. The office staff, especially the office manager, has no concept of customer service. After many years of being a patient, I will seek an office that understands how to speak to and listen to patients. Very long story short, called to get a prescription refill and make an appointment for a sinus infection. I was told I could see the doctor January 15, almost a month from now. I said, I have a sinus infection, is there anything sooner. She took several minutes to see what she would do and I said, forget it. I will go to urgent care. She also told me that a nurse would call me that day by 4:30. Two days later, no return phone call so I followed up and was told (by the same girl) that she was going to submit the request. When I said, you told me you submitted my request a few days ago! She said, "Oh, well there are no doctors here today." I asked to speak to the office manager or a nurse on duty. I had the unfortunate pleasure to speak with the office manage. He was rude from the start of the conversation which immediately put me on defense. Really, all I needed was my prescription to be refilled. Instead, I got incompetent staff, which now I understand is not her fault after speaking with the person who is in charge of training, and an extremely rude office manage. I urge the owner of this practice to really take a look at the office manager specifically and ask if this is who you want to represent your practice. He is in need of training on how to speak to patients. read more

The providers are excellent but the office management leaves much to be desired. The issues have been endless - missing lab tests which require me to come back, checked in for a lab test and I waited over 30 minutes while fasting only to be told they didn't have me in the system, waited over an hour and a half for a provider, and charged fees which were never disclosed ahead of time. I love that they take insurance and really, truly seem to have the best in mind for their patients, but the office needs better management. read more

This office has really gone down hill. I saw Dr. Siegel for a GI problem, we ran a bunch of tests, of which they mailed them to me 3 times. However the doctor can't see me till 12/20, I hope I don't die in the mean time. I have called numerous times to get a script for abdominal cramping and in 2 weeks, NOTHING! I just have to say that my family has used this practice for several years now and on every visit, I'm surprised with how incredibly nice everyone that works here is. I've had visits with Dr. Fletcher, J. Scalzo, and Dr. Leon and they are all super-friendly and accommodating. *UPDATE* I was very pleased to receive a phone call from Alex, Office Manager in regards to my review. To be honest, I wasn't expecting to get one back so soon, so that gives me comfort in confirming that they do care about their patients. He was genuine in wanting to know what they can do to help communicate better with their patients, and although, I don't think there is much of a solution they have at the moment to help with the long wait time but he's aware of it, to which I do understand the providers there are to ensure they give each patient their undivided attention and the proper service needed. The staff at the front desk is not very helpful. The Doctors are great but the staff is not patient friendly and acts like the doctors are not approachable. I called due to a side effect of a medication and request aid from the doctor and the front rep was useless. She was quick to tell me policies and was lazy to walk to the doctor and bring the situation to the doctor. I have been going there for years but will start researching other doctors for my family.
