We have one daughter who is almost 2 and we've been at Stepping Stone since I returned to work after my maternity leave. We've had wonderful experiences with Stepping Stone--the teachers (our favorite it Ms. Teresa) and the director have always been good at communicating and reliable. We feel comfortable that they are taking excellent care of our daughter, and will soon be caring for our little boy who is on the way. I've noticed that there's been very little turn over or change of staff since we've been there (which is not always the case for other child care centers) so I think they're doing something right over there from an employee point of view too. All the teachers are kind and patient and our daughter has always enjoying going to Stepping Stone. I've seen other people mention issues with the waiting list process. I think part of the issue is that this location is so small and in such high demand because if you live in the neighborhood (this location is an old converted house), it's wildly convenient and walkable. As soon as we were added to the waiting list--probably 8/9ish months ahead of our desired start date--we were told that we would eventually get into this location, but because of space and enrollment constraints we might need to spend sometime a another, bigger campus and wait until there was a spot for us to transfer. Not ideal, but it's a small campus and we've had such a good experience here that I wouldn't hesitate to do the same thing again even with the possibility of the minor inconvenience of spending some time at another location. When something is high demand, there's usually a good reason. And we've think Stepping Stone is great! read more

The staff here is incredible. We have never had a better daycare experience and that is after 3 kids and 5 different daycares in Austin, Houston and San Antonio. People think it's easy and intuitive to be a caregiver and it actually takes a lot of thought time and planning just to make sure each parent is happy and so are the kids at drop-off and pickup. And maybe we just don't notice how it is to get the kids back into shape right before they are picks up. I have never had anyone take care of our kids like you all do. Looking back at it only being a year since being here you have made us feel better than ever leaving our kids with you all and your staff. read more

My daughter has been at Stepping Stone Crestview for over three years, and we've been happy with the school throughout this time. The teachers and principal are incredible and truly care for the students. The daily activities and curricula are age-appropriate, engaging, and fun for the kids. The school does an excellent job in preparing kids for kindergarten and providing a fun, safe environment in which they can play, grow, and learn. The hours and in-house prepared meals are especially convenient for working parents. We've been a Stepping Stone Crestview family for 5 years now and it's way overdue to leave a 5 star recommendation. We have a kindergartner that does after school care and two full time children at Stepping Stone and we could not be happier with the people and program. There are too many to name that make us feel special every time we drop off and pick up our children. It truly feels like I'm dropping them off with family. They play, they learn, the families are engaged, the teachers are engaged, and the curriculum is the perfect blend of education and fun. We have the upmost confidence that our children are well cared for at Stepping Stone Crestview. Lastly, the leadership team led by Miss Judy is phenomenal. If you don't have Judy in your life, you're missing out. She is as genuine and committed as you will find in the industry. We love, love her and the team she built! read more

This review is particularly for their wait list process. I am sure that once a child is enrolled there, the care is excellent. However, being on their waitlist was truly one of the most frustrating and nonsensical experiences I have had ever interacting with a business. So this review is for people who are considering getting on their waitlist. In December, we toured this location and paid a fee to get on the waitlist for an Aug 1 start date in the infant room the following year. The nice lady working there let us know that would not be a problem at all. There would definitely be space for us at one of our top choice locations with a 9 month heads up. She told us to call her back in the spring to check on our spot in line. That put me at ease. We call back in April and were told they can't give us any info on our spot in line--call back in June. We call in June, and are told they are really busy because it's summer time, call back later. At this point it's like 1 month out from when we had hoped to start and we still know nothing. We were called to set up a tour at our 2nd choice location, so I was hopeful that meant the wheels were turning. The employee at our second choice location told us openly that the waitlist was a mess and way too many people had been told it would be no problem to fit them in, and it had created a real problem. Great. But at least she seemed more trustworthy and open about the process. She told us she would call us within the week to let us know about our spot at that location. It's been over 3 weeks and we have heard nothing. The overall takeaway here is be cautious paying the waitlist fee and trusting what they say about when you will be able to hear any news. It was absolutely all a lie in my case. Now i'm out $100 and had to learn the hard way not to trust any assurances that aren't in writing. read more

My daughter started this daycare after my wife decide to go back to work. I know we all have diferente opinion on what we seek for our children. I'm blissed to have finally found a daycare beside taking the time to take care my daughter with respect they go beyond and are helping develop her social skills,manner and take in mind there health. read more

Whenever I called, I had different people tell me different things about the place availability for the particular age group - one said mid January, the other "possibly June" and then again "maybe in a few weeks' time". The director did not respond to any emails I sent. (The HQ advised me to email directly to check availability). Finally, I was excited to hear that there may be a place for our kiddo at the school, given the great reviews and how long it has been established for. This school was my favorite in my head. We have booked the tour (got confirmation via email to that effect) but when we turned up, the director was not in and nobody was aware that we were scheduled in. The young girl who opened the door said she's a little busy as she was cooking lunch and left us with one of the teachers, one who run the class my child was meant to attend. Whilst she came across as a lovely and warm lady, she admited not having professional experience before starting at the school (this was not a deal braker for me). We had a good conversation about the school and how she educates children. But then she went on to explain that she likes giving all children nicknames rather than calling them by their names (which did not sit well with me) and that when it came to potty training she would put nappy pants on children to avoid possible accidents at school, even when their parents explicitly asked for the child to go nappy free and sent their kid in without one. Perhaps she was indeed right in knowing that the child is not ready for the transition yet having spent most of the day together BUT this is something that should be communicated to parents rather than doing things behind their back because "she knows better". The class room was a little small for the amount of children there, and somewhat dated, but the outdoor area at the back was big and seemed well kept, for children to play. I had high hopes for this place and was most disapointed following my visit. Needless to say, we did enroll somewhere else. read more

Our family is so grateful that Stepping Stone is part of our lives. The staff truly loves children and we know that our child is well cared for here and he loves his school. Everyone is very friendly and during the covid outbreak they have been adhering strictly to guidelines and have remained open which is wonderful. Being part of this school has allowed my son to blossom into a friendly, energetic and enthusiastic person. I know that this is because of the people working at Stepping Stone. I can't say enough great things about Stepping Stone School. My 3 year old absolutely loves his teachers, the curriculum, and his classmates. We appreciate it so much so, that our twins will be starting there on Monday :-) You just can't say enough good things about the friendly staff, their attention to detail with each child, and the love + care that Judy and Tina put into there school. I don't have have enough great things to say about this school. My daughter has been attending since she was an infant (roughly 4 months). Dropping a tiny infant off at daycare is one of the most overwhelming things I've ever done as a mother. Ms. Karyn and Ms. Michelle treated my daughter like she is their own. She has since graduated to Ms. Elizabeth's classroom where she has already learned so much. I can genuinely tell that Ms. Elizabeth is as proud of my daughter as I am with each milestone she hits. My daughter often cries when she leaves school because she's having so much fun. Each day she shows me new things she's learned and of course shows off her friends. My daughter is 18 months old and can sing songs, articulate needs, count from 1-3 in English and Spanish and knows her colors, because of the curriculum she's been taught at Stepping Stone. I look forward to getting to know the other teachers as she grows. My daughter has egg and peanut allergies (so far), not only has the school accommodated and dropped it from the classroom. They have gone above and beyond and always report back. One memory comes to mind specifically where my daughter had an allergic reaction right as I came to pick her up I noticed hives start popping up. EVERYONE and I mean everyone was there helping me get her some meds and out the door. Every morning my daughter asks for Martika and Ms. Judy by name. She looks forward to going to school every single day. She spends as much time as the Texas heat allows outside and has a structured day. She naps better at school than she does in the silence of her own crib (I mean what is that about ;)). OF COURSE there are incidents - they're children (some who like to bite, mine included), but all the teachers and aides are prompt with communication and open about what happened. My first daycare experience was horrendous in comparison. I highly recommend this facility and will also throw this out there: Not all Stepping Stones are created equally. read more

Our son has been at SS Crestview since he was one. The teachers are fantastic (Miss Leah, Miss Elizabeth and Miss Martika are particularly dear to us). The "principal", Mrs Judy, is wonderful and so experienced. Together, the staff and curriculum have helped shape our son into a confident, caring, fun-loving boy who loves "school". I have loved having my daughter at this school. She is getting ready to start kindergarten and I know that she is completely prepared for her next step. Her teachers have been amazing. Gina is so in tune with the kids and does a wonderful job of pushing them, encouraging them and celebrating their achievements with them. Judy is a stellar director and her whole team is wonderful. Stepping Stone School has provided amazing development for my 2 year old in so many ways. From "show and tell" to music day to the many events with family involvement, you really feel like your child is getting the attention he or she deserves. I could say it's the curriculum, which is great, but the bottom line is that the staff cares about each individual as their own, so the growth in communication + fundamental skills for a 2 year old like mine has been special to see!! Judy loves the kids and her staff...Gina a.k.a. Tina :-) is the second mother to my son, and makes everything comfortable for him to have a great start to the day, everyday. Both of my daughters have attended Stepping Stone Crestview since they were tiny little newborns. From the nursery (the "pumpkins") all the way through pre-k (the "sunbeams"), I have been impressed with the quality of the teachers, administration and curriculum. All of the teachers are so loving and caring, and many have been there the entire time we have been going there (my oldest is now four and a half). I loved having my two children at Stepping Stone Crestview. We recently moved and had to change daycares and it has only made me realize even more how lucky we had been. The teachers are amazing - very loving and energetic. My children always got lots of hugs. The Director was always very helpful with any concerns we had - and went above and beyond to help us when needed. My son will start kindergarten this fall and he is more than prepared thanks to the wonderful curriculum at Stepping Stone. I truly believe that Judy, Christina, Leah, Elizabeth, Karyn, Makayla, Martika, Carly, Carla and all the other wonderful teachers played a huge part in raising the caring, well-mannered, smart, and happy children that my kids have become. read more

My family has been blessed with Stepping Stone and its staff. We have been part of the Stepping Stone Crestview family for the last 6 years with our 2 boys. The facility is a wonderful cozy home in our neighborhood. The principal, Judy, is one of the most caring and dedicated individuals I have ever met. The teachers are all so loving to the kids. I am amazed by the education and emotional growth I see in my boys all the time because of the curriculum. The effort and diligence the staff put in is outstanding. I enrolled my daughter in Stepping Stone in Summer of 2011, and since that time I have been very impressed with the service we receive. She is so well taken care of, and I genuinely feel like the teachers really care about my daughter. They are so engaged, and Judy the director is always a pleasure to speak with whenever I have any questions about anything. I have no anxiety when I drop her off at the beginning of the day, because I know she is well taken care of, and not to mention, she loves it!! My son just completed his first session of swim lessons at Stepping Stone School. He had such a great experience and gained so much confidence in the water. The first day he refused to get in and at the end of the session, just two weeks later, he was bouncing up and down in the pool going completely underwater on his own. The teachers we so caring. I love this school and this location! I tried to go with a mommy-share with my first daughter in the beginning, and I struggled to get my work done with the continual possibility of my sitter not able to be there for my child. I worried about the level of attention my child was getting, and the amount of stimulation they had; I also was concerned about the amount of face-time she got with the television at the sitter's house. I then changed to this daycare, mostly for the location, but also because of the positive reviews I got from other friends in the neighborhood. This location has the homey feel for my kids, nurturing staff, and professionalism. By the time my second daughter was born, there wasn't a question on how I was going to go back to work. My oldest daughter is about to start Kindergarten, and can read on a 2nd grade reading level and utilizing the dance program. (They also had swimming classes.) My younger daughter is also thriving with music programs, art projects, and the personal attention I was afraid she wouldn't get unless it was a nanny. I highly recommend Stepping Stone 1 - they have been like family! read more
