I've never met more caring people who would go out of their way and stay late at work for a complete stranger. I was able to get that one last goodbye with my mom. I wasn't going to ask to see her but something told me that I needed to and I'm so glad I did. A little weight was lifted from my heart after getting to see her; she looked so peaceful and finally at rest. I'm so glad Neal and Shane were able to give that to me. They both went above and beyond with their love and compassion for my mom, as well as being able to show me love and compassion in my darkest hours. It's a treasure to meet people like them and I'll forever cherish both of them! I cannot thank them enough!

My father, grandfather, his parents, and my grandmother's parents all rest here. I have been…read morevisiting this cemetery ever since laying my father to rest in 1994 when I was only 8. I find Hollywood Cemetery to be very peaceful. There are many graves and mausoleums that are laid to rest here. Some graves go so far back as the late 1880's when it was first established. I have taken numerous walks through here just to look at the beautiful Oak trees in Autumn season. If you love history like I do, it is worth taking a leisurely stroll through. Notice that this was a 'white cemetery' when it was first established in its time. A few African Americans were laid here with their white families, but they were isolated to a certain lot so their social status was recognized as such. Obviously today all are welcome to be interred here. Though it looks like it is almost impossible to find an open plot, according to the cemetery's website there are still 1,500 lots open for purchase. I will continue to come here and lay flowers on my father's grave and pay tribute to my ancestors until it is my time to be laid to rest with them. Hopefully that won't be for a very very long time though.
