Thorough, methodical, professional and personable. In a nut shell, these are the things that I think you would expect from a home inspector. Vince is each of them. He was recommended, to me, by my realtor. She said, "He's the best. No, really... This guy is great!" She was far from wrong. Vince was very polite and incredibly professional. He checked everything in the house and explained his process from top to bottom. It only took a few minutes and it felt like I was just hanging out with an old friend, catching up, while he walked through the house making notes and explaining things. I was especially impressed with the care he took to ensure that things were left how he found them. He even brought along a pair of "house shoes" so as to not track dirt through the home while he completed the inspection. In this case, I am not the seller, but selling your house is a very emotional thing, to some. Vince's demeanor and "leave no trace" style of inspection earned a great deal of respect, from me. From getting the quote to having Dan come out and inspect my home. The inspection was thorough, fair, and Dan was super respectful and professional throughout the entire process. We had Vince do our home inspection this year, and the experience was wonderful. My husband and I were buying our first home and were obviously nervous about the process. Vince arrived at the house early and got right to work. He did a detailed inspection and explained things to us as he went. When he thought there was something important to point out he would call us over during the inspection. When something wasn't working with the A/C he checked it multiple times in different settings to make sure that his inspection was accurate. I bought a home in Chelsea, MI and found StepbyStep Home Services online with many wonderful reviews. Alex came out and did a very thorough job inspecting every little detail of the home. The home was built in 1900 and his knowledge of older homes was excellent. Like many homes in small towns like Chelsea or Dexter or Pinckney the downtown is filled with these older homes that have special or unique architecture and Alex knew all about the construction practices of the day. I really wanted to be present for the inspection because I'm the one that's going to be in charge of the fixes. I just couldn't make the trip from out of state with a preschooler on short notice. So my husband was the only one to go. But after reading through the thorough report with pictures, I feel like I have a complete understanding of what needs to be done. I am a first-time home buyer, and my realtor recommended StepByStep for the inspection. Vince was punctual; already looking at the back side of the house when I pulled in at the agreed time. He was thorough; checked every outlet, faucet, drain, heating vent, etc. in the entire house. Being new to this, I had lots of questions and Vince could answer all of them. I have bought four houses in my life and was helping my daughter to buy a condo. I just pick this company through yelp. And he is the best home inspector ever! He took time and inspect everything, took more than 200 pictures, went in to attic and stick the head in a craw space. He checked all outlets, windows, and took temperature every place you can think. On top of this, he explained things: what, why, and how. It was for a small 2 bed room condo. But he spent 2 hours, and his report was more than 50 pages. I came back and checked the last home inspection. It was 8 pages long and only had "x" marks with few lines of words, I definitely recommend them! read more
