First off the garage door making horrible noises going up and down, the inspector said "It's doing what it's supposed to do" but had I known of the noise on paper at least I could've had that addressed before closing. Secondly he said nothing wrong with the roof looks good. Well 5 months later and now a roofing company has to areas where he missed using a drone instead of a ladder at reachable areas. The phone support for scheduling and coordination with my new home builder was smooth and made the process easy. The inspector was on-time, thorough and very professional. He provided a report that he shared with the builder's project manager. His inspection caught a couple items that I/we were not aware of, and about a dozen other overlooked smaller issues to correct. Their inspection was thorough and easy to understand. However, I had basically two of the same services scheduled and no one said anything, so I paid extra money for a service I didn't need. I also made the appointment with knowledge that they did CL100 termite inspections. When I called to make that appointment based on the time frame I needed for my mortgage, I was told I could not do it as a standalone appt. And now I need to find someone else. Which was the main reason I went with their company in the first place. Inspector was great, some policies don't make sense. read more

We met our inspector Brad when he came to inspect the short-term rental we were staying at that had recently sold. We got his # and requested him for our upcoming inspection. We stayed throughout the inspection (which was quite lengthy) and he did a great job sharing the info and going through the house. The reason for my low rating is 100% because of Step by Step as a company. Our CL100 report was incomplete. They subcontract this service to Pest Nation, whose report gave us no peace of mind - "there was past infestation and may have current infestation." We spoke to them twice after the report asking for a more definitive answer. They said it was inconclusive because they could not inspect an area in the garage due to boxes, and they "don't move boxes." Our agent was in the house during the inspection and had they told her the issue she would have moved them. Instead, their laziness cost us $100 and an incomplete report. This kind of incompetence for an inspection as important as termite infestation is unacceptable. So while Step by Step outsourced their work to Pest Nation, and Pest Nation did a poor job, Step by Step refused to take responsibility. They told us we need to call Pest Nation ourselves even though our money went to Step by Step. AVOID this type of business. read more

The inspection was thorough and I was very satisfied with the report. This company actually uses great software to complete the reports and it is easy to read/review. There is a way for homeowner to create a customized repair request report. Because of this report, I was able to present my concerns to the seller in a clear, detailed, and concise way. I got all 9 of my repair requests completed and because of the detailed photos and report, it got done. The pricing is very fair. This company is not trustworthy they damaged our door frame going up to our front porch & when confronted and we asked them to fix it they refused. They also were stranding on top of our counters looking for something and left the dirt from their shoes on the counters . This company is not respectful of the owners property. The people who did the inspection should & did not clean up after them selves. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Also one of our sensors on our windows was knocked down and they changed the temperature on the thermostat and did not put it back to the temperature we had it set at before they left. read more

We had a bad experience with this company. There were things in their inspection report that simply were not factual. In addition, during the inspection, our refrigerator was left unplugged which could have proved disastrous. Also, a toilet that was working fine was suddenly spewing water out of the holding tank. During the inspection, someone opened the water holding tank and removed a water supply tube which was found in the bottom of the tank. Had our son not come home and found it, then it likely would have flooded the entire house. read more
