STEM Handmade Soaps recently relocated its Van Aken location to its new home in Cleveland Heights. If you're familiar with the area, you'll find it the Lee Road District. The store is one open space that retained the spirit of Van Aken space - shelves of favorite products, gorgeous sink, forest green walls, and same lovely hospitality. Lots of new things though at STEM! They now offer face skincare! Options are face cream, eye cream, face oil, and face toner! I got a few items! There are new scents like Mai Tai! Very spring feeling! Laundry detergents are now available as well as home cleaning supplies! They are all stocked up with cute Easter items in case you need basket stuff! From product quality, great customer service, and local/handmade items, you can't go wrong with visiting this establishment. I recently visited the Van Aken Market location in March 2022 (east side of Cleveland). I originally visited Stem Handmade Soaps in April 2019 for a Yelp Elite event where Yelpers got to make our own handmade soaps, 6 each (FREE). You can look up that review on Yelp. If you view the first 2 photos attached below, you'll see the soap that I made for myself back then which I named "Autumn Wander". BAR SOAPS ($6 each) -- There is a vast selection of scents to choose from which makes the shopping experience pleasant. I bought the Lavender Eucalyptus soap which smells heavenly. I was going to add this soap as a birthday gift to a friend but now I am going to keep it for myself, haha. ROOM/LINEN SPRAY ($12 each) -- I also bought the Lavender Eucalyptus, room/linen spray. This is used to spray around your home, on your pillows before bed, spray in the air before or after yoga, etc. Its use is very versatile. The price may seem steep or a bit expensive for such a small bottle but the product is all-natural and good quality. SERVICE -- It was wonderful because the woman who helped my friend and I was very attentive. A smile goes a long way. I am truly a STEM loyalist. After visiting their Lakewood shop a while back, and later attending a Yelp event with them, it re-hooked my obsession with their products. The natural, vegan products of STEM are truly special. Located in Van Aken Market Hall, STEM is their second location to their flagship in Lakewood. I never pictured myself as someone who would go out of my way to buy local soap products, but here I am. STEM products are wonderful because they don't dry out your skin, they have completely unique scents and are quality holistic remedies. My favorite scent is Spa. It smells so fresh and soothing and is high-quality moisturizing. If I counted between the sugar scrub, soap, lotion, body butter and more that I have in Spa, it would easily total at 1,484,238 products. STEM also has a commitment to philanthropy and environmental consciousness. A lot of people talk this talk, but STEM walks the walk. They donate their soap leftovers to shelters. They offer a recycling program for their soap dispensers and other product mechanisms. I will literally drive out of my way to replenish my supply of products or buy their gorgeous gifts for others. I was here prior and made a purchase of some bar soaps, lip balm and hand and body lotion. I historically used Lubriderm on my dry legs. I switched to their product and I found that the hand and body lotion (actually all of them) are truly amazing. I don't even need to use it everyday even in the dead of winter. Hands down best lotion. AND I can bring back in my empty bottles as they will recycle them. So best lotion and environmentally responsible. read more

This shop smells very nice with the fragrances of soaps, candles and lotions. The store is in the Van Aken Market, an indoor venue with counter foods and stylish pop-up like shops. The first Stem store is on the west side. Many customers are from the east side so the owner expanded to here to accommodate current and new people. The lady I spoke to was very helpful explaining about her natural and vegan products. The staff makes scientific decisions based on experimentation and presentation, regarding the ingredients used in these products. This is so interesting! I checked out Stem at their new location in the new Van Aken District. They are one of the modular pop-up style shops inside the Market Hall building. Their scented bar soaps are very reasonably priced at 4 for $20 (or $6 for 1) and there were so many great smelling options. They also sell pump hand soaps, lotions, bath bombs and other related bath and home accessories. They offer a good rewards program too that gives $10 off after five visits and awards a "bubble" for signing up for the email program too. Also I just see on their website they offer soap making classes which is for sure going on my to do list! read more

The soal and lotions are reasonably priced and so luxurious. I got Sunkist . The best. Not too strong. And skin feels so soft. The employees are extremely helpful. read more

The staff is very warm and knowledgeable about their products. The scents aren't overwhelming and they have a variety of products to choose from. I've personally enjoyed the sugar scrub and their shampoo bar. It makes you feel good buying locally and staying environmentally friendly. I'll be coming back for sure. read more
