The second phone call was that she had our daughter confused with someone else. After the second time speaking with Lori over the phone, we still hadn't received any instructions on how to download the practice exam, and sent a follow up e-mail again requesting the test. Again nothing. At this point we had to get a practice test from another provider (Pasadena Learning Center in Altadena, they're amazing) as it's been over a month. On 12/4/2020 we contested the PayPal charge and only then is when Lori immediately sent the link information and via e-mail saying that we must have not seen her email, dated 12/4/2020 lol. Very unprofessional. I wish I would have read the negative reviews on here before signing up with them because it's exactly what we experienced.

Our only regret is that we didn't find this place sooner! He is now in an LAUSD kindergarten magnet school program and is doing great. It's a no frills school that is focused on teaching. They let the kids watch TV during free time. We don't get the daily picture updates, the experiments, the special events, graduation ceremonies as we did with his former school but they taught him everything he needed to know to start kindergarten ahead of the curve. We are so immensely grateful to all of his teachers!

We were very sad when the time came to leave, but thankful to everyone there for setting our child up for success in elementary school. Also, they have flexible drop-off and pickup hours that can work around your schedule, which helps ease the transition from being at home with your child full-time into the schooling experience. After several months, I realized that several tutors were not adequately trained and did not help my son improve his math skills. The branch managers, Andrew and Mari Kyrylenko, did not demonstrate effective leadership. They advised purchasing more sessions, so I bought an $800 bundle to keep my son enrolled 3-4 times per week, but it did not improve his math grade. I also found Mari Kyrylenko to be unprofessional in our interactions. When I raised concerns about my son's progress, she insisted that I purchase another $800 or my son would not be allowed to attend. Based on my experience, Mathnasium Hancock Park felt more like a business than a learning center, and I cannot recommend it. If you're seeking real progress for your child, consider other options (Ex;LA Tutors, ) and look for a tutor who genuinely cares about your child's improvement rather your tutor center focused only on pursuing sessions for their benefit.

He is in private school, and they are 2 years ahead in their curriculum, which needless to say means mom had to brush up her math skills too....! However, thanks to all of the tutors at Mathnaseum, Elijah ended 7th grade with an A and is doing extremely well in 8th grade (he is learning algebra, geometry, and the beginnings of statistics!) I would most definitely recommend this business to anyone looking to help their kids not only become more comfortable with math, but just overall improve their confidence level with understanding concepts, formulas and test taking skills! By the way- they have done an excellent job even during the pandemic to keep kids safe, and offer both online virtual sessions and in person with social distancing and safety measures.

Some unexpected situations which were a massive learning curve for us as parents. We had challenges with our little one that were very overwhelming to manage, but we stuck it out and did everything we could to make sure our little one had the support needed to succeed at Happy Birch and moving forward. It wasn't easy, but Happy Birch was very supportive. It was difficult for everyone the staff, myself, my little one and other families. We were consistent with outside / inside school routines to regulate and guide our child to using the tools in learning how to navigate with the group. This was with our first child. Despite how much work it was it was all for the best. We now know what support she needs and we have a system that works for us. We were so happy and thankful to have learned and worked together through that time.

Our daughter stayed home with us until she was about 2 years old and once she reached that age, we decided to enroll our toddler here part time for the exposure, to build social skills, but mostly due to their philosophy of learning through hands on experiences with nature and artistic expression. The teachers here are truly amazing. When I had my very first teacher parent conference, I was surprised by how well the lead teacher Karen knew my toddler. She was passionate and genuine about sharing everything that she had observed in our 2 year old's development. And I could tell they shared a connection. It was very special. The director here is also very attentive and present. You can tell that she cares deeply about this school and she has a strong vision for the children and the curriculum. She has always been available and easy to talk to anytime we had questions or concerns. We will really miss this place when we move. Thank you so much for the attention and love that you gave to our toddler as she adjusted to care outside of the family. We would stay in LA just to keep our daughter in this school if we could. You must see the magical work they do to believe it. A description here will not do justice. They empower kids and believe in them like no other program. In addition to being academically challenged, the kids make great friendships, and develop a wonderful curiosity about the world around them. The incredible director, Elena Cielak, will confuse you from time-to-time with an entire email written in the subject line--- but she's also giving your kids a love of Shakespeare, music, dance, art, literature, and any star you hope to reach, so enjoy that as part of her genuine charm, and the reality that she does not have time for lengthy emails when she's advocating for the graduating kids to get into wonderful schools.
