I like this cafe. It's by the owners of Mitchelton favourite Valentina Cafe, and their…read moreColombian-influenced menu carries across to this equally suburban venue. The best seat in the house is perched upon a replica Tolix stool overlooking the canopy of Everton Hills. It's a brilliant spot to stop, sip your coffee, and ready yourself for the day ahead. For a simple but satisfying breakfast, opt for the arepa with scrambeled eggs. It does the trick and won't weigh you down. And Mums. The best news is for you. With welcoming outdoor seating this cafe is prime for Mother's Group catch ups. There's plenty of space to wheel your pram around and kids can play in the play area while you enjoy some adult conversation!

Birds and Bees is our new local cafe which actually serves decent coffee and good food. I say that…read morewith an air of surprise due to my current disappointing experiences with other cafes in the general area. The cafe is located at the back of the IGA complex with a generous outdoor patio area away from the main road. There is a concerted effort by the cafe to green up their area with plants (recently rejuvenated with spring on the way) and it really helps to break up the usual car park feel so many cafes can have in shopping centres. For families with young kids there is a great little section set up with plenty of toys to keep your little ones occupied. Having been here a few times I feel like I can confidently say that the food that we've had has been really good and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as a great place for breakfast or lunch. There is a slightly Spanish bent to many things but also plenty for those just wanting a snack or something straight forward. I do find the coffee a little inconsistent depending on who is making it, not that it has bad flavor but more that the milk is over heated, perhaps that is just my personal preference though. The service is friendly and prompt regardless of weekday or weekend visits which is important. I just wish they were open on Sunday's and public holidays as we'd probably frequent them more than we do now. All in all this addition to the local cafe scene is a vey welcome one for us in Everton Hills and somewhere I would recommend if you're in the area.

In Dec 2014 we called into Ramekins again and I had the Smashed Avo & dukkah with poached eggs,…read moremushrooms, hash brown & ham off the bone. It was served in a small paella pan and was delicious. The poached eggs were nice and runny this time and the dukkah was a nice addition to the standard smashed avo. We headed back to Ramekins for a lazy Sat breakfast in Aug 2015 and decided on the Eggs Benny with Ham, and the Sweet Potato and Kale Fritters. The fritters were on the smallish side but I had added an extra poached egg and avocado so it was the perfect sized breakfast.

We saw the Ramekins sign from the street and quickly looked it up to find several very favourable reviews. Sold! We ordered at the counter inside (very cute decor) and took our table number outside to sit in the sunshine while we waited. I had: Eggs Benedict with bacon. Served on a thick piece of toasted Turkish bread and drizzled with tangy hollandaise. It was delicious. He had: breakfast burger. I didn't get a chance to try it before it was demolished but the review was definitely positive. After we devoured our savoury breakfasts, sweets were on the brain so we ordered a butterscotch muffin. You have a choice of butter or cream - we chose cream. Our muffin arrived piping hot with a miniature mug of heavy whipped cream on the side. It was absolutely sinful. Ramekins Cafe is definitely a must-try if in the area!
