The other entree e had was the fish cakes. There were nicely balanced with fish and potato filling. Would recommend both entrees if looking for seafood! Drinks were on point! They are best known for their vodka and coolers but they make dozens of different products. Flavoured vodka soda, gin, cream-based liqueurs along with many other base mixes. The vodka is nothing out of the ordinary but the locals are simple people and the products are great as a mix. Coolers are nothing special but great if you're looking for something light. One of our favourite things here was the 'bar'. Samples are ALL free and they've got everything available to try. If you're sitting in, you can have cocktails made by the bartenders. Order from the menu or check out the rotating weekly cocktails. The service here is a 10+. Staff is incredibly helpful, friendly and on the ball. Be sure to tip them! The one downside of this place and the reason for 4 stars is that the location is NOT accessible. A few stairs will take you up to the bar/retail area as well as washrooms. Merchandise all on the main floor. A bit surprising for a newer location but then again, accessibility is hugely lacking in the majority of this province.

The grounds are beautiful with several places to sit and enjoy your Little Pig Cider that you buy right on site. We expected the booze and cider to but be that great with one place making so different things, but we were pleasantly surprised. The first two samples are free or you can do 5 for $5. Definitely worth the price despite the size. Try the Island Tide, it will make your face hurt but a hilarious thing to do regardless. It's their version of Moonshine. We really liked the vodka and gin, but that's what we regularly drink. The Limon Cello was good too, but not something I'd drink everyday. Overall, the cider is what sold us. It's got a high alcohol content, 9%, and is pretty dry; just the way we like it! Lots of parking and very easy to get to so do drop in and enjoy the patio.

I visited with friends during a road trip in the area. I wasn't sure what to expect, but we had a…read morenice time. We missed the turn off for their road the first time even though there is an old truck with "Caldera" painted on it and a small sign. They're set back a bit from the main road, so they don't quite catch your eye until it's a bit late to turn. The parking lot is pretty big and more than accommodated all of the visitors while we were there. At first glance we were a bit surprised at the buildings because the barn is so old and weathered, but there's a newer (metal) barn that the distilling happens inside. Once we learned the story of the old barn (which actually looks great inside), we were really impressed. (Get them to tell you all about it!) The distillery is really focused on local stories with all of the ingredients for the whiskey being grown locally and the names related to the community. The colour of the Hurricane 5 whiskey is a beautiful caramel (see photo). They offered free samples of the Hurricane 5 while we were there (August 22nd) and a cocktail at a great price that included ginger ale, ginger beer, lemonade and whiskey. It was perfect for a hot sunny day! They also mentioned that they were about to come out with another whiskey and would soon have a cognac as well. There was no seating in the barn, but outside on the back courtyard (through the barn) were four Adirondack-style chairs and some other areas where you could sit. It's not really set up for people to stay and enjoy a couple of drinks though; it's more to get you in, let you taste the options and send you on your way with a bottle or two. I would have appreciated a couple more chairs since there ended up being more than 10 people there at the same time.

My experience at this distillery was disappointing. My wife and I have been to about 10 different…read moredistilleries in the last couple years, and this tour was not up to par. Every distillery tour we have been on other than the Canadian Club tour in Windsor, has been free. The Canadian Club tour is $5 and well worth it. This tour was $10, but considering our remote location, I figured it was the price of doing business. The drive out to the distillery was lovely, but on PEI just about everything is and we arrived a few minutes before the next tour. It's a small operation, which is just fine, and the whole operation is in one building. They took us around the back of the building and gave us a tour of their operation, which is fine. The operation is small but efficient, everything was immaculately clean, no complaints there. The tour guide was very nice and did her best to answer our questions, anything that wasn't on her script was problematic, but overall she was nice. After the tour which is was about 10-15 minutes we went inside and had our tastings. They have six different products to choose from, a potato vodka, blue berry vodka, gin, rye, whiskey and rum. Each person is allowed two tastings, so if you came with another person (everyone that day had), you can taste four things between the two of you. The size of the pour was not very big, and in all honesty was very difficult to split between two people. The taste of the liquor was fine, in my opinion the best thing there was the gin, nothing else really stuck out or knocked my socks off. The cheapest 750ml was $48 and went up from there. So, in all honesty, the tour was adequate and if it had been free, I would have no complaints at all about the quality of the tour, but the tour was $10, and that is my complaint. I didn't leave the tour feeling like I had received $10 worth of tour. I don't want to get drunk on the tour, but the amount provided in the tasting was very low, and hard to split between two people. The tour had no real production value, they just showed you their operation, which allowing for an increase in height, could fit in your garage. So, I left feeling like I had squandered my money. I would have accepted that $10 was just the price of a tour on PEI, but my wife and I went to a lovely distillery several miles away in Rollo Bay named, "The Myriad View", that was wonderful. Same size operation, but the woman who operates the distillery was onsite and personally gave us a tour of the distillery, answered all of our questions and let us taste each of her 8 offerings, some of them multiple times so we could decide which one appealed to us the most, and it was all free. So, my conclusion is that the Prince Edward Distillery is not worth the money, and if you want to take a tour just go to Rollo Bay.
