I just had the worst experience in this store! If you know me, you know I am here nearly every weekend ! The store continues to decline in customer service as well as merchandizing. I was purchasing a jacket and the rounder stated 28.98 I had other items to purchase as well. When i got to the register it rang at 49.99 I walked back with the associate to find out the rounder stated pants and everything on rounder was the jackets. They would not honor the price of the rounder . I left store called back to speak to a manager and 12 minutes later while on hold I made my way back into the store to locate a manager. I had to walk the store to find her . I took her to the rounder and she seen the issue and offered me a 20 percent off coupon . I told manager to pick up phone I was on other end ! This store.......which decades ago......and I mean decades ago, use to be a Roses store (if any of you can remember those stores...). Today it is a Stein Mart and this little store has just about everything for everybody. From travel luggage to womens clothing to cook ware to tuxes for men....you name it they have it. Not for the faint of heart, this place will take a while to browse through. Staff are friendly and helpful and when I have shopped here it has been a good experience. A bit north of town, a place to check out if you are shopping for something specific and looking for a good price. read more

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I would give them a quarter of a star, if I possibly could. DO NOT VISIT THIS STORE. Drive to Hendersonville store, if you want a good experience. Now if you like being followed around the store PROFILED and pretty much accused of being a possible thief just by the way you look, then this is the store for you! Several women followed me, my adult sons and their girlfriends around the entire store. (I was shopping alone, and my sons were with their girlfriends shopping separately as well. They whispered about watching us (which we overheard) and we should be followed. There was only one nice lady working the store Monday evening. (the 17th of April) She was in the fitting room, when I first starting trying on clothes. She was very helpful to me. I asked her about the limit to take to the room, as I have an odd body shape and I usually have to try on a lot of clothes to find a few that fit well. She said I could take more than the 6 limit on the sign. Although I stuck with the 6 limit anyway, Until the older lady teacher that had been pretending to put up the two pieces of clothing in a buggy as she followed me around the entire clothing section still with the two pieces of clothes. She informed me the limit was 5. So I changed to 5 (sign said six). She then proceeded to go through my buggy while I was in the changing room, under the guise of organizing my buggy (Bull crap, I am not stupid). I had some I had already tried on and some I had to try on as outfit, which she proceeded to mess up. Then she took the ones I wanted to purchase from me under the guise of taking them to register to start removing the security devices. (Which when I arrived to check out, not one single security device had been removed!!!! and one of the girls was playing on her cellphone and continued to do so after the hateful teacher woman asked her to help remove the security devices.) I was fed up after every time I came out of the fitting room she was standing there asking for what I planned to purchase to take up front and watching me get 5 more out of my buggy. I could hear her talking about watching me. Another set of employees was overheard talking about following my 21+ sons and their adult girlfriends. I finally told her if she had a problem with me I would take the very large amount of cash I had in my purse and go somewhere else. Which is exactly what I should have done instead of giving this pitiful excuse for a business my money. They mentally assaulted my family, we were 100% profiled by the women. Even after I confronted them and offered to show them cash, they didn't stop. I HIGHLY suggest not to set foot in the horrible place. BTW, I spent a HUGE , NO I mean HUGE amount of money and that was after I got fed up and just put the rest of the clothes I had in my buggy, back on the return rack without trying them on. I WISH I hadn't given them any money and I may still just return every single piece of these clothes in the next few days and drive to Hendersonville, because I am just livid by the horrible experience. I have never been treated so badly in my life, in any store. They had me in tears because of their treatment. Those women working tonight have no business working there and treating people the way they treated myself and my family!!! DO NOT SET FOOT IN THIS HORRIBLE STORE. Unless they replace the horrible employees except the one nice lady that was working in the fitting room. BTW, this was not a racial profiling in any way. I just ran into the worst "bait and switch" false advertising at Stein Mart that I have ever seen. I was looking for a light weight, packable, down jacket. In the store there was a stand with down jackets. The sign on top of the display said "down coats 59.98 compare at 170.00 elsewhere". I tried on 8 jackets of various colors and sizes, checking the sleeve tags on each one I looked at. They had various prices from 89.90 to 120.98 on them. I found one I liked and went to check out. The cashier said "that will be 125.88". I told her what the card on the rack said, and she called a supervisor over and asked for a price check. The supervisor came back and said "This item is not on sale. The display price only refers to the water proof plastic coated jackets. I declined the sale and went back to the rack again. I read the card and it ONLY referred to "down jackets and down vests", there was no mention whatsoever to water proof plastic coated items. I looked at all of the 30+ jackets on the rack (and later the vests on the adjacent rack) and only found ONE seemingly plastic coated jacket. None of the sleeve price tags matched the price on the card on the rack. This is classic bait and switch. Put up a price which doesn't actually refer to the all (or more than one) item on the rack, then try to get the customer to pay the higher price at the cash register. I am infuriated by this tactic and it does affect my opinion of this store. Shame on you, Stein Mart. You tried to cheat me, and I don't like it. read more

I love this store! The folks who work here are friendly kind and so helpful! The sales and prices are great and the coupons I frequently receive make shopping here even better! I am always able to find great deals and the clothing home goods jewelry etc. I'm looking for. I love shopping here and so does everyone else in the community! Thank you Stein Mart! read more
