We had a very mixed experience here. We actually lived in the very nice Logierhaus Friedrich - and…read morewere "only" booked for breakfast here during the opening week of the famous Horizonte Zingst Photo Festival. While the breakfast quality was generally very nice (could not match the one of the Steigenberger, but at €15 to €26 it would be comparing apples to oranges) the service was very inconsistent. Half of our week's stay we had the pleasure that one blonde tattooes lady was more than friendly. Sadly, the other half we had staff who appeared to be doing whatever necessary. My wife asked for real milk for her coffee and the answer was rather harsh "why don't you check the milk at the buffet". To avoid any misunderstanding: both my wife and I were born in Germany, so there was no language barrier. The minute you tried to sit outside and get ANYTHING, the service was a desaster. Getting a coffee was bad, dinner was a horrible experience. All in all it's a nice class place. I was seriously tempted to rate two stars, especially when a billing issue came up (I believe we were double charged for breakfast) one service lady agreed the breakfast was pre-paid, the other checked back with one Mr Bark, who did not bother to check himself but demanded us to pay again. Again, we had some very nice moments, so the three stars are pretty generous. Would I go again? Possibly, if some one I know would confirm they worked on their service consistency. Would I make a detour just to go here? Most likely not. Sorry! ----- Thanks for reading my comment. Now, if you are curious enough about my "rating scheme", here's "the moment of truth. I am a music photographer who travels the world with the worlds greatest musical talents (Michael Jackson, AC/DC, Rolling Stones or Rammstein, to name a few) for almost 40 years. When being asked "where do you live" I tended to ask "in hotels". At my peak, I "shot" 250 shows a year. Will say: been there, saw and tasted it, and a lot, as I may say and much to the dismay of my doctor who is in my back to lose a few pounds. Quite a few, as I may add, which is why my wife and I walk ten thousand steps per day, where- and whenever we can - and explore a lot of new exciting places - places you may oversee when just driving by. While I love to share my experience with others, I am sometimes shocked how people use their "power of word" to down-rate amazing places because of minor incidents (in my all time favourite restaurant Le Petit Four on Sunset Plaza in Los Angeles the owner was even called a racist as he refused to toast the (free) bread in his packed restaurant - they simply do not offer toasted bread, as no French place does, as I may add). Or I just read "Chicken piccata so over-salted I hope the dog enjoys the leftovers tomorrow, I brought home most of the dish." Did they speak to their service? How could the restaurant learn that something was wrong when patrons even have their leftovers boxed to take home? As a dog owner, I want to take the writer and shake him or her really bad and say "you give over-salted food to your dog? Anyone with a bit of brain understands this is a horrible idea... I hope you agree. So If I had the say on this portal, I would offer just to see ratings of my friends. So I would see what the ratings were by like-minded people. Sadly, I have no say. I try not to compare apples with oranges. A place like this simply does not compare to "The Ritz". At first, I assume that a restaurant is clean, they do not greet you with a gun - and they deliver whatever they promise. I do not give stars for things that are expected. In my rating scheme, three or more stars are awarded if they actually exceeded my expectation. Four, if I am sure I will come back. To achieve five stars, I must be willing to take a detour of thirty minutes or more to go again - which sadly does not apply to this place. Thank you for reading this.

This year, the organizers of the famous photography festival Horizonte Zingst invited me back to…read morehost some business lecture and photography masterclasses during their opening week. Other than before they did not book me a hotel but into a luxury apartment. The building has a real wow factor - sure one of the finer ones in the area. However, if you expect ocean views in this first-row seaside building will be profoundly disappointed - all first-row properties more or less look on trees - not on the sea. It's nothing that particularly relates to this property - it's the way Zingst is set up. We had a wonderful two bedroom - with the most beautiful linens and a luxury equipped kitchen. However, the dining area does not provide enough space to put the four chairs to the ultra-small dining table. With two bedrooms and $2000/ week, you would expect to be able to sit four people - and not find a table where breakfast for two is already a challenge. Then: service. At $2000 per week, I would expect to have someone on site to greet us and show us around, particularly since we arrived during regular hours- it took a couple of phone calls to get us into the building and the garage, which is kind of tricky. As I said, we stayed for a week - and one set of towels at this kind of apartment is less than expected. You can get more - at an extra $25 for two sets of towels and one set of linens. If you do, you still get the full hotel experience: the maid rings the bell and enters 0,5 seconds later without giving any chance to get dressed - not remotely any thought of the guest's privacy. Would I go again: maybe. With no nice space to sit and dine or even have breakfast, I would possibly prefer a hotel next time. If you come with two kids, meals are a challenge. If you are a sauna addict (which we are not), you would possibly love the huge glass cube sauna and the gas fireplace. To avoid any misunderstanding: the place is a gem for the right people. It was found spotlessly clean and I love tableware and accessories. They still have opportunities as far as it comes to service - hence the four stars. Finally: no matter where you are traveling from: be prepared for a loooooong ride, Zingst is possibly the most remote place in Germany.
