This year, the organizers of the famous photography festival Horizonte Zingst invited me back to host some business lecture and photography masterclasses during their opening week.
Other than before they did not book me a hotel but into a luxury apartment. The building has a real wow factor - sure one of the finer ones in the area. However, if you expect ocean views in this first-row seaside building will be profoundly disappointed - all first-row properties more or less look on trees - not on the sea. It's nothing that particularly relates to this property - it's the way Zingst is set up.
We had a wonderful two bedroom - with the most beautiful linens and a luxury equipped kitchen. However, the dining area does not provide enough space to put the four chairs to the ultra-small dining table. With two bedrooms and $2000/ week, you would expect to be able to sit four people - and not find a table where breakfast for two is already a challenge.
Then: service. At $2000 per week, I would expect to have someone on site to greet us and show us around, particularly since we arrived during regular hours- it took a couple of phone calls to get us into the building and the garage, which is kind of tricky.
As I said, we stayed for a week - and one set of towels at this kind of apartment is less than expected. You can get more - at an extra $25 for two sets of towels and one set of linens.
If you do, you still get the full hotel experience: the maid rings the bell and enters 0,5 seconds later without giving any chance to get dressed - not remotely any thought of the guest's privacy.
Would I go again: maybe. With no nice space to sit and dine or even have breakfast, I would possibly prefer a hotel next time. If you come with two kids, meals are a challenge. If you are a sauna addict (which we are not), you would possibly love the huge glass cube sauna and the gas fireplace.
To avoid any misunderstanding: the place is a gem for the right people. It was found spotlessly clean and I love tableware and accessories. They still have opportunities as far as it comes to service - hence the four stars.
Finally: no matter where you are traveling from: be prepared for a loooooong ride, Zingst is possibly the most remote place in Germany. read more
