The only place to start this review, is to say that Karen and her team are the absolute best choice. When I met Karen, I was in the middle of a divorce being poorly represented. When I explained my situation to her she did something that I never saw a lawyer do, she refused to take my retainer check! She said, this case is frivolous and the lawyer representing the other side should be held accountable. I was at a point where I wanted the best possible representation, and it was clear that Karen was going to be that representation. After convincing her to take my retainer check she and her team did the most amazing job, they got the job done quickly and fairly and she was not afraid to make it perfectly clear to the attorney representing the other side that she would take action against him because of his behavior in my case. As far as background is concerned, I am retired from a business where 90% of my clients were attorneys, so when I met Karen I knew I had met very unique member of that challenging group of people. I would never recommend this office to anyone seeking counsel. I was extremely, extremely disappointed. The response time when I first started my case was reasonable- although not impressive- however, as the case progressed the timeliness of their responses grew...pathetic. I would ask multiple times for a call back, unsuccessfully. I had a palpable sense of urgency to solve my case for the wellbeing of myself and my family and I shared my growing concerns with my lawyer, Lori, on multiple occasions, this seemed to land on not only deaf ears, but completely jaded and indifferent ears. As the case, and bill grew larger, my concerns and questions took longer for a response. On average, this took a week to hear anything back about important questions. And then I would get a response along the lines of "don't worry, we got this". As though I should trust what they were doing all the while not getting the answers I needed. Not only did they no longer seem to care about my situation (which was increasingly urgent), the only time I would hear from them was for a request for additional retainer. Which I understand, however the service did not come close to meriting the amount I paid for representation, and they were quite strategic in their timing of requesting their payment, aka the afternoon before deposition or court the next day or else they could not be present. For someone who's paid about thousands in lawyer fees to be told "you must pay this extra retainer before tomorrow or we will not be able to attend your court hearing", it does not sit well. It was like being taken advantage of in a dyer situation, adding emotional and financial stress to my family. I shared these concerns again, to no avail. The customer service within the office, especially with the receptionists is...poor, for lack of a better word. Every time I called to request a call back (which, as mentioned, is ALOT, even for a lawyer) the women sounded irritated or as though I was inconveniencing them. Once my lawyer fees grew through the roof (and I'm still uncertain as to what they paid for since I asked that multiple documents be filled with the court to protect my family until my final settlement came through, and they never were) and I advised my lawyer my funds were being depleted and I feared not being able to move forward, what little care Lori's held for my best interest went out the window. It's as though my case become an inconvenience since I could no longer be milked for more fees on short, urgent notice. My final settlement meeting was hasty and I felt as though I was rushed into signing an agreement (which addressed a fraction of my concerns) so she wouldn't have to spend more time or "effort" (strong word for what I received) on my case. To make things worse, there has been absolutely no follow up within the last two months to address potential criminal activity that was discovered during our case. One would think a lawyer would certainly not forget about something like that. I hope this lengthy description of my experience helps others make informed decisions. I now know why lawyers have such unpleasant reputations. It's hard enough to go through life changing experiences, especially ones that require legal counsel, but to have someone who lacks compassion for their client is a whole new level of unpleasant. I believe there is better value for the thousands you'll be spending- elsewhere. read more
