I came into Steffel because I knew they sold the brand of watch that I own. My watch needs a new battery, and I went to the desk displayed/sold watches. I asked the saleswoman in that section if she could change a my battery, and she said, "No. You have to go to a Jeweler for that." O.K., that's acceptable. What wasn't acceptable was when I asked her where the nearest jeweler was located... how do I get to one? I told her I am not from here (although I have lived here for about a year, but I didn't tell her that) and she looked at me, very serious, and proceeded to ask me, "Do you have a cell phone? Get on the internet and type in 'nearest jeweler'..." She was still talking, but I had begun to walk away at that point. THIS is by far the rudest, of rude interactions with customer service that I've ever had. Even on a bad day, this is NEVER an acceptable way to talk to a customer. read more

Very disappointed experience at this department store. I just bought a Chanel lipstick for my sister and 5 minutes after I found out it was not what she wanted and decided to return it. The ladies at the makeup register rudely rejected my request stating that they accept no returns! Even 5 minutes after a purchase!!! Wow!!! Never again will I step foot in this store of entertain the idea to purchase ANYTHING from their makeup department. Very low bar service and a major disappointment! Stay away and purchase your make next door from Douglas!!! read more

Nice nine story upscale store carrying all name brands. The floors I visited were not that big. Located on Karntner in the heart of city center very close to St. Stephens Cathedral. This was a must for me because it is not in the United States. I found the staff to be pretty friendly to tourists. Bought a wallet and it was packaged so nice even the receipt was put into a sleeve. There is a restaurant/bar on the 7th floor. read more

Steffl is Vienna' version of Neiman Marcus or Saks 5th Avenue. It's the largest department store that we encountered in the city - 5 floors of goods or so. The ground floor is beauty products and accessories and the upper floors are womens and mens fashion. Expect to find high-end designer labels from both local and international brands, with price labels to match! Most of us can't afford to shop here (I certainly can't!) but the basement label is discreetly labeled "designer sale" and THAT's where the treasures are. When we visited, most everything down here was 50% off the original price. And it wasn't junk, by any means - I spotted a Burberry cape, some very high end trachten and multiple pairs of gorgeous Italian leather boots. In the interest of space and budget, I settled on a beautiful wool/cashmere scarf which was quite a bargain! As a plus, items were very well organized both by color and style. read more

I tried to eat at the cafe upstairs, and was sat inside in the sun without air conditioning. When I asked the waiter he sat me outside with a nice breeze. Then the hostess came out and told me I had to leave as the table was reserved. There were at least 10 tables open and no one else in sight. I think she was just prejudiced against tourists - which I obviously am. Possibly not posh enough for her upscale terrace. On my way out I ran into three groups from my tour and recommended they not patronize the restaurant. We all found much nicer people and service out on the street. read more

Steffl department store is a luxurious store with seven floors of clothing and accessories from various very high end brands. If you are a fashionista, this is definitely a place to check out. Even if you can't afford it (most of us can't), the window shopping is worth it. Steffl is very conveniently located on a busy shopping street leading up to St. Stephan's cathedral at Stephanplatz. The street is otherwise full of quite generic high street brands which you can find anywhere else in the world, so in my opinion this department store was the only outstanding stop worth stopping at during the day at the city center (if one has limited time for Vienna, like I did). The store is not as large as e.g. London ´s Harrods, but it still has a decent sample of the best brands out there. I especially enjoyed the variety in eveningwear and lingerie departments. I like that the staff is polite and professional and doesn't act snobbish towards you even if you are an obvious student with a backpack checking out a thousands euros Elie Saab or Marchesa gown. The seventh floor also has a lovely view of the cathedral, so after you're done fashion admiring, it´s worth checking out. read more

the staff of Steffl is unfriendly at most when you are not looking like some one who has enough money to spend it on a cloth of an expensive store. That gave me the rest. I wanted to buy some things but this is inapropriate and so called NO-GO. I would go to another store as this one. read more
