Despite it being Memorial Day weekend, the beach was closed and was gross, with visible green algae. The Shafer Queen was non-operational and under repair during our visit. We even heard from other guests that they had gotten stuck on a ride and had to climb down. The food was typical of an amusement park, mostly fried foods and desserts. Prices were high, but that is norm these days, unfortunately. Some of the positive experiences were firework show and the Haunted Frankenstein House (requires an additional charge) was definitely worth it. Overall, our visit was a disappointment. The park has not aged well and is in need of repairs, along with better staffing.

If you happen to be in the farthest back row, you'll experience what I call an 'ejector-seat' moment; not only will you get airtime, but you'll be momentarily LAUNCHED out of your seat, to the point where you're very glad the ride operator tightened your safety belt. The double helix gives some great lateral G's, and there's just enough pep throughout the ride to make it a brief, but enjoyable woodie. And who says midsized coasters can't run with the big dogs? ARF ARF!

(circa 1958)…read more Frankenstein's Castle might've been novel in its time, but the charm has faded and what we're left with are dark, musty hallways and poorly-timed scares. While I can't say that it's fallen into a complete state of disrepair, Frankie's Place is in dire need of an updating. But maybe Indiana Beach is intentionally NOT updating it for the sake of nostalgia. Regardless, entry isn't included with park admission, so you'll have to shell out $3.50/person. So is it worth it? Nope. Many of the animatronic "pop-out" scares were mistimed or inoperable, and most of the long dark hallways were devoid of anything spooky at all. In fact, a great deal of the wallspace was empty, and on more than one occasion I had to walk with my arms outstretched to find my way around in the pitch blackness. But there were several 'fun house' elements that I enjoyed, like moving floors, a rickety bridge, a room full of misleading (dead-end) doors, and a balcony that suddenly tilts forward when you stand on it. THAT was cool and a very original concept. Perhaps back in the heyday of Indiana Beach this haunted(fun)house garnered a lot more accolades and attention, but in 2014 it's kinda falling apart at the seams.

The entire time we are there people are FLYING around in gas golf carts (which you have to pay $30 to use your own) and BLARING music the entire time.... Late into the evening and well past 11pm I was scared to let my kids play because I could tell half the drivers were drunk, most were going WAY too fast and many were definitely under 18 (the "required" age to drive one there) yet nothing was said to any of them... only my 6 year old going like 4mph on a Segway. Silly. I spent probably an hour + picking our spot online. I am picky about where we camp and the proximity to certain things. I picked a spot that was toward the side of the campground and had a playground (per the map) at the end of the row. Except THERE WAS NO PLAYGROUND. It had been removed but the map wasn't updated. The entire place was a bit trashy and no well kept. It was beyond disappointing. It's no coincidence that they have google reviews turned off people. That that as a hint and find somewhere else to stay. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Features some nice 'head-chopper' effects and dips very close to the water level for that extra thrill factor. There are some solid airtime spots over the 2,900 foot jaunt, but it definitely runs rough around the edges. While not as bad as Cedar Point's 'Mean Streak', there's still parts of the HH that need some major re-work. My girlfriend and I exited the ride (our last of the day) with a few bumps and bruises; her, an incessant pounding headache, and me, a sore ribcage and banged-up shin. I'm not saying it wasn't fun, because it was, but our personal comfort is worth more to us than that. This track badly needs re-profiling!

An interesting one, this…read more To start, you have to be 54" to ride the aptly-named "Tig'rr Coaster", which has the most stringent height requirement of any ride at Indiana Beach. It doesn't go upside down. So why 54" instead of the typical 48"? Because this Tig'rr has claws. It doesn't look like much, but make no mistake, it's an intense ride packed into a confined area. To make things even crazier, when I rode it for the very first time back in '03, there was no seatbelt restraint! That means that prior to 2004, besides gravity and common sense there was nothing stopping you from standing up and getting instantly decapitated by this ride. Apparently 4ft 6in is the magical number where you're discouraged from doing things that will immediately get your ass killed. Inherent safety issues aside, the seating arrangement is in-line, so the gf pretty much sat in my lap with my legs straddled on either side of her (I have no complaints about this). This Schwarzkopf 'Jet-Star' coaster model rides rough around the edges, but the benefit to this is that it's essentially a walk-up (zero minute wait). Hop on for a wild ride.....and for god's sake keep your arms and legs inside the car at all times!

Sitting in a two person car, a powered track takes you through a piratey-themed layout, where you shoot at targets to accumulate points in an effort to beat your partner next to you. Now while DoLT isn't in particularly bad shape, it's not in tip-top operating condition, either. This was easily our longest wait of the day (~30 minutes), since some people were opting to ride by themselves (to "dual-wield" the light guns, which is actually stupid since your accuracy drops substantially). It's still a fun dark ride after all these years.....I just wish the queue line had a fan or air conditioning.

We spend over $400 for all day rides, game passes and food. 75 percent of the rides were unmanned and we had to search for employees to start them for us. We missed our laser tag appointment because it took 45 minutes for us to get our food of 8 burger sliders. I noticed the same employees taking food orders and also running rides, and delivering food. One cook for dozens of orders they were extremely behind. The employees were rude and did not understand their own job. The food menu stated our slider platter came with fries. We showed them on the menu where it said served with fries. They argued with us that they followed a sheet that did not say that. She did not understand the concept of serving what was sold on the menu to the customers. Terrible service, terrible attitudes and extremely slow service, especially for a weekend when you would think they would have more people. I believe this is a company/management issue not so much an employee one. They were under trained and under staffed. We will spend our money elsewhere.
