I held out with this scathing review, but after the second attempt to receive a minimal customer…read moreservice attitude and presentation, I give up! Backstory: about 4 years ago, encountered a frontline service issue, regarding attitude, reached out to the manager, to present feedback, so she could do her job and retrain this individual. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to redeem the branch. Today was the first time I've been into the branch since, and walked in, with a desire to discuss a personal loan. My wife and I stood in the middle of the lobby, not wanting to enter the teller line, (which their was none), and an apparent new hire exclaimed in a loud voice, "is there something I can help you with?" Not wanting to broadcast my private affairs to everyone in the branch, I replied "would like to talk to someone about a loan". He continued in his loud voice, as he looked around snidely, "do you have an appointment?" I replied no, which prompted him to inquire loudly "what kind of loan are you interested in?" I asked him, "is there someone I can talk to privately?" At that point, I realized I was getting nowhere with this gentleman, he was clueless. On previous occasions, pre-COVID, there was someone to welcome people while they were in the teller line, that is understandably non-existent today. I immediately did an end-around, walking around the branch, and then recognizing the same manager I dealt with years ago. I exclaimed, "here it is again, do you remember me?" I could see her eyes spark in recognition, and simply said "and here we are again", spun on my heels, and walked out. It's one thing for big box establishments to make corporate decisions to survive this business climate. It's quite another for individuals, who are part of that corporate system, to not insert their humanity into the equation, to bridge the gap. This manager failed utterly, and chronically, in fulfilling her role as branch manager. It is way too easy to find a loan online, and Bank of America has long since sat on their laurels, with their national branding, and expressed "you come to us". Like every other corporation today, they will learn their lesson, and close their doors, quietly and without fanfare. So be it.
