It serves as a grand gateway to the heart of Florence bustling with locals and tourists, strategically positioned in the northwest corner of the historical center. Opened in 1935, it features a spacious entrance hall with a glass and steel roof. The station's main entrance leads directly to a large hall where tickets are purchased and information on several digital boards displaying train schedules prominently. There are 19 clearly marked platforms, and directional signs in multiple languages help guide passengers to their trains. The station houses several eateries, from quick snacks and coffee bars to sit-down restaurants. My partner, our friends, family member, and I waited here last Wednesday for our high-speed Italo train on our last leg to Rome. Andiamo!

The end sum is that if you're visiting for the first time, allow additional time for transit or to get out. Bottled water was provided and he even stopped to get Fresh pizza for us. By the time we finished touring with Roberto for two days we felt that we knew so much about the area, history and culture of the region. Roberto's knowledge or art, history, food and culture was so impressive. The tour we did with Roberto was much more than him driving us from place to place. Each place we went was so carefully planned and curated. We visited wineries, vineyards and a sheep farm that makes cheese. With his help, we were able to visit every place we wanted to see as well as some smaller unknown, hidden gems. We saw so many beautiful landscapes and Roberto stopped frequently for us to take in the views! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Roberto. We hope to go back soon to tour Umbria and Florence with Roberto.

Stazione di Pisa Centrale is a smaller train station and does not have the Pharmacia or coffee…read moreshops the train stations normally have. This one just has a couple vending machines, bus tickets & train ticket kiosks to purchase tickets from. Very close to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. About a 20 minute walk or if you take the bus, it is only a 8-10 min ride. There is also a closer train station to the Tower of Pisa that is only a 5 min walk. This station is a bit dated and older. It still does its job though. I was able to get on and off the train here just fine. When leaving to go back to Florence, originally it was supposed to be Platform 4, however, last minute got changed to Platform 10. We didn't know what was going on but lots of people who we waiting on the same platform with us starting running down the stairs and going to Platform 10. I feel like a screen stating the changes made in platforms for example would be great to have. Because, if we hadn't paid attention to where everyone went off to, we most likely would've missed this train to go back to Florence.

It's outside of town, and I wouldn't recommend walking. Our group got lucky when we asked a taxi man how to get into town. He called a taxi for us, which you're apparently supposed to do because taxis don't sit at the station. Fortunately, the permitted cab came quick and delivered us to our hotel fairly quickly. It's one of those stations you just deal with for travel's sake. You're not going to have a picnic or shoot selfies here.
