Well Hello, did I just fall through a wormhole and traveled back in time? This place will transform…read moreyou to prewar England Circa late 30's maybe 1940. Beautifully and tastefully decorated paying homage to all things prewar hanging on walls and fire mantle, don't miss the restroom. Even if you don't have to go? GO! It's too interesting to miss. The waitresses even dress the part with their dresses, makeup and hair perfectly quaffed. The food; well, I was pleasantly surprised. At first I thought charming quaint themed atmosphere tea room food must be either subpar or just okay. I ordered the daily special and my oh my to my surprise it was real good food served with real Hartlepool happy hospitality. I cannot fault this place. Well expect that it's too far from Miami, Florida. But when in Hartlepool England check this place out for afternoon tea with great Hartlepool charm Prewar. Don't worry you'll be transported back to present times once you get the bill. Not incredibly pricey but not incredibly cheap either I'd say it's reasonable for the food, service and charm. Enjoy.

It is beautifully decorated with colorful vintage memorabilia. We ordered sandwiches, scones, cheesecakes. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. I really loved this place!! Also, the owner is sweet and kind.

The Queen visited in May of this year. The meats served here are all locally sourced, raised, killed, smoked, cooked etc. The back bacon is unbelievably good. Some good deals with the pie of the day - usually game or steak - and other tasty morsels such as pates, sandwiches etc. Very pleasant surrounds, staff and reasonable prices. Recommended eating and shopping. They now do a Sunday Roast with choice of Lamb,Beef or pork. All very tasty and good value. A limited Evening menu has also now appeared. I cannot recommend this place highly enough

We went here for a celebration meal on Wednesday evening, their high season, longer opening hours…read morehave now started. We'd booked our table, just in case and were seated on the balcony, which was lovely. Three of our party ordered the braised steak and oxtail pie, we can't recommend it enough, it was utterly delicious!!! My son's girlfriend had the lamb dish from the specials list, she said it was gorgeous!!! The vegetables were perfect, wonderful chips (a previous reviewer thinks they use frozen chips, I don't know where that idea came from, the chips we had were most definitely made from scratch), mashed potatoes and celeriac, perfectly cooked carrots and the best braised red cabbage I've ever tasted (I'm a big red cabbage fan so believe me, this is praise indeed). We managed to fit dessert in, we were all too full for big desserts, so had cake, husband and son had triple espresso and walnut, son's girlfriend went for chocolate while I chose Tunisian orange. We all thought our cakes were wonderful but I'm sure I 'won' because the orange cake was surely unbeatable, it was really, really delicious!!! The prices are very reasonable too, four meals, four portions of cake and a bottle of Prosecco came in at less than £80-00!!! The staff were attentive, but not too much so, the atmosphere was great, in fact everything was just perfect. If you're in the area, treat yourself, I promise, you won't be disappointed!
