A very well oiled machine of a station running smoothly and always very busy. Their tourist information booth is by far the friendliest bunch of agents I've met in Europe. Extremely helpful. read more

Simply scan your ticket and go to the number two platform. Elevators and escalators available. Signage was clear. The ticket and tour office answered our questions. We had a great breakfast at our hotel, but lots of shops available if you need to pick up breakfast or a snack for an early morning train ride. Great way to travel from Rotterdam to the Paris Olympics on Eurostar.

The architecture in Rotterdam is so unique…read more Love the airiness of this train station that was completed in 1953 to replace the original 1877 station that was destroyed during the blitz of Rotterdam in World War II. Almost the entire historic city center was destroyed. Unlike other European cities, nothing that was destroyed was rebuilt. Hence the unique modern architecture that defines Rotterdam today.

There is no public pass-through without a ticket for the railway part of the station, which is pretty much the case for all stations in the Netherlands, as NS require an OV-chipkaart. There are ticket machines right outside the main entrance to the railway part of the station. From the outside, the station reminds me a lot of Wembley Stadium with the arch going right above it, it can be a rather pretty photo-taking opportunity, with the arch, light rail tracks outside, and Cube House and Markthal in close proximity. All metro and railway services going into Rotterdam Blaak call at Rotterdam Centraal, the city's main station. Facilities inside the station are basic but as expected for a secondary station in a city. 3*

It is convenient to their home (not a far walk). If you visit Leiden, it is close to the medical center and university. Tons of trains arrive and leave here, so we never had to wait for very long for the train we needed. Dutch trains are very much on time, unlike Germany! If you need a snack or drink, there's a small Albert Heijn and a Backwerk on the lower level, as well as kiosks on the platforms where the trains are. Toilets in the train station do cost so have some euros for that.
Great train station in Amsterdam not far from the airport. Clean and easy to navigate…read more Many places to eat and buy necessities before embarking to your destination. The station provides an easy jumping off point to cities like Leiden, Haarlem or even The Hague. The digital directory screen was very easy to follow once we looked online to see which train we needed. There are intercity trains and sprinter trains which are slower or quicker because of the number of stops I think. We needed the 11:13 train on platform 5a to Uitgeest. We were t hungry yet but if we had been, the station has multiple places to buy pastries or snacks for travel. We only had to wait on the platform for about 15 minutes. The seats were comfortable and had options for 2 together or 4 facing each other for families. The ride was very smooth with only 2 stops before ours. You tap out at the platform of arrival at a little tap screen about waist height there.

The largest terminal station in the Netherlands, with easy connections to Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Schipol. The station opened in the 1970s yet feels fresh and modern, with the recent renovation that was completed in 2017. Unlike most train stations in the Netherlands, you are able to get to most of the shops without a ticket or OV-chipkaart to pass through, the layout in terms of separating the shops and platforms is much more thought out here. There is a Starbucks inside the station with a small seating area, as well as a SPAR just outside the station, perfect for picking up essentials ahead of your trip. Easy to get around the station, and then exit towards the exciting The Hague Center. I would have expected more seats outside of the businesses inside the station, to sit while waiting for the train. 4*

It may not look like "old Netherlands" but it's so pretty inside and out. They also have the old station next door and it's a restaurant - so they preserved the history. A beautiful ceiling mural - relief - represents Delft, not too big and very clean. Bathroom didn't have hand soap - which sucks when you have to pay for the toilet! The headliner here is their bicycle (fiets) parking garage. It's amazing and HUGE. It's worth checking out if you're ever in town. There are no signs (at least none of us could see it) to tell you which train is heading where. There is no luggage storage. And worst of all, the staff at the info desk is not helpful at all. They're rude and dismissive, just in general, don't care. In Netherlands, either people are very friendly and helpful, or the other extreme end who are totally dicks. I found that quite interesting, and the staff at this station belong to the latter category. There's one convenient store here located outside of the gate, same as the info desk, so you would need to card out to have access to it. Don't plan on storing your luggage here because there is no locker. Do it in Rotterdam. Tons of bikes right outside the station which can make quite a scene! By the way Gouda is pronounced as GAO-dah with a hard G like something is lodged in your throat and you're about to choke. The Dutch guy at the cheese weighing station was not happy when I said it in the foreigner way...

The way the station is set up there is only one passageway to and from the platforms and so depending on which end of the train you're on you might have to walk the entire length of the train just to get to the exit stairs.
