Really i don't want to give Dr. Jerden ANY stars. The wait…read moretime at Parkwest Hospital was 13 to 14 hours but I had no problem waiting. In the ER I had Dr Shock (? Sp) and he was absolutely awesome. I was moved From ER to ICU step down unit. All nurses, dietician and support staff were all so very professional and personable. On July 7th or 8th. Dr Jerden just opened my door and came right on in and introduced himself. I asked if he was the physician that kept ordering the 8 potassium 20mEq tablets by mouth . He replied yes, and then very sarcastically he began speaking to me as if i had angered him. I merely wanted to educate 'this physician in crohns dz with rectal bleeding. I've also had bowel resection and over 3.5 feet of diseased, intestines removed. One problen I suffer with is Short Bowel Syndrome. I was explaining to Dr Jerden that the Potassium he had ordered and I had taken came right back out in the potty. Dr. Jerden was again talking to me very in a belittling, sarcastic tone. Dr Jerden asked if I was a Doctor. I advised Dr. Jerden that I am not a physician but I am an LPN with X-Ray. I told Dr. Jorgensen that I do not know as much as him but I wanted him to understand my GI system a bit better as I needed alternative forms of potassium so that I can absorb some. I advised that recently my PCP Dr. Singh had written me a liquid potassium to swallow or I was fine with even having IV Potassium. As I was talking, Dr. jerden b began laughing at me while I'm trying to be helpful. I even mentioned that he could call my Primary Doctor and speak with him. At this point, I've been treated cruel and Dr Jerden and myself, we just clash and I did not trust him as my physician. I asked Dr. Jerden to leave my room and to not come back. Dr. Jerden totally dismissed my telling him to leave and wanted to examine me. I told him that he is not going to examine me and again I told him to leave my room and to not come back. At this point Dr. Jerden began to threaten me. Dr. Jerden advised that he would have to call house supervisor and since I had no doctor I would have to leave AMA and that insurance would not pay if I were invited to leave the hospital. Which is false. I checked with Cigna and they would pay. On the 4th floor I had Dr Wyckstandt and he was wonderful. He listened to me and ordered some IV magnesium and IV potassium ( which I had to stop bc I was having fluid overload). The Nurse, Amanda, examined me and contacted Dr. Wychstandt who immediately stopped the IV potassium and within a few hours I felt so much better. Dr Jerden totally disregarded my patient rights. Dr. Jerden did not treat me with respect. Also, I had refused the daily heparin injection bc I wasn't confined to a bed. I was ambulatory in the hospital. Dr. Jerden wasn't very nice about me refusing the injection. Dr. eilli belittled and berated me for refusing the heparin injection. I have never been treated the way Dr. Jerden treated me. I may not choose to go to Parkwest Hospital again for fear that Dr. Jerden would again be assigned to me. Having to go through the verbal abuse and having my patient rights ignored again is a fear and stressor that I don't need when I am so sick. I hope there are communication courses and perhaps a refresher course on patient rights would be helpful for Dr. Jerden. As Dr. Jerden did NOT examine me, I do not expect Cigna to be billed under his name for that particular day Thank you,
