This office gives me mixed feelings on one hand Nicole who I see is amazing. She listens to me and lets me express my thoughts and concerns she cares. Then there is Kelly Nolan who saw my adult child who has bad anxiety and is part of the LGBTQ community. She wouldn't listen to my child she basically called my kid a liar. She definitely discriminated against my child and she disrespected her and that is something that is unacceptable for anyone especially a professional. read more

very sketchy doctors and inappropriate incompetent front staff. One doctor makes everyone go to the same chain for sneakers and orthotics, merely clips a triangle off the commercial orthotic, which means it's not returnable and then talks about himself and his divorce and his failing practice.....I know because I lived it and everyone in the support group went through the exact same experience. I was at pain management the other day, standing at the window and was a few minutes late because the medical transportation guy took the wrong exit. The doctor refused to see me but promised to call in a prescription to last me until august. They marked me as a no show and never called the script in. 10 days later, no script, I'm in a pain flair and some guy who doesn't know what he's doing accuses me of lying when he was the one lying and I caught him in a lie. The starling pcp was horrible with my special needs daughter. I don't know where these people come from. But my impression is quite low. read more

I was scheduled to see my doctor but I hit traffic and I was 5 to 7 minutes late . I called the office twice and I got the voicemail the first time I didn't leave a message in the second time I did . I called the third time and the office answer . The person on the phone was rude and dismissive . She didn't even try to work with me at all . I told her that my doctor was seeing me as a follow-up for my blood pressure it's well as some injuries that received due to a car accident . I asked to speak to a supervisor and she put me on hold and never came back . This is the office of Steven sales in New Britain . Steven sales is an amazing provider ! He is thoughtful and thorough and courteous . Unfortunately I cannot say that about his office and I hope that he hears this so that he can make some changes . The only reason why I didn't change providers is because of Steven sales himself but I was ready to . I understand that I was the one who was late but considering the fact that I did have injuries and I was only 5 to 7 minutes late and I typically sent in the waiting room for 10 or 15 minutes I feel there should have been something that she could have done to help me . read more

I receive/received wonderful care from my Starling Doctors in Wethersfield - Oncology, Pulmonology, and Gyn. Doctors proficient in their field, and answered all my questions. The mid-level practitioners are wonderful too. Office staff have been professional and helpful. I've never had an issue with communication, booking appointments and receiving reminders. August 4 I began feeling very unwell. I thought it was appendicitis. I went to my primary care physician August 9, who wanted to order a CT scan. I said OK. When Davi-Ann entered it into the computer, it came back that I was allergic to contrast. I said, "no, I am not allergic to contrast. I had a CT scan a few years ago with contrast, and there were no issues, however, I am allergic to gadolinium." She wouldn't listen to me. All she had to do was look up the prior CT scan to see there were no issues with the contrast. she ordered an ultrasound instead. I had to cancel the ultrasound because you cannot eat or drink for 6 hrs before it. She had sent me down the hall for an h. Pylori test which requires you to drink a solution. I contact my primary care physician and reiterate, in writing, that I am not allergic to CT contrast. I said rather than reschedule the ultrasound. Let's go ahead and do the CT scan. They refuse. I have the ultrasound, It is inconclusive and over the next few days I get worse. I couldn't take the pain anymore so on August 18, we went to the emergency room. They want to do a CT scan. I tell them I am not allergic to contrast. But my primary care physician never corrected the records and so they go ahead and do the CT scan without contrast. I continue to get worse. I call my primary care physician and he orders an MRI with gadolinium. I tell them that the last time I had gadolinium I had to be intubated. I went to sleep in an MRI machine and woke up in the hospital. His response was, "we will premedicate you if necessary". I feel like I live in the twilight zone. I dig out the records which state I had to be intubated immediately after the gadolinium was injected. I contact Starling's compliance department. It shouldn't take this much to correct your records or receive competent medical care. read more

The care was fine but the billing was fraudulent. I went in for a routine physical and they added all these bogus charges for a physical my insurance won't cover. So now I'm stuck with a bill for a routine physical. I wont be going back. Not to mention they put in orders for services after they said would be covered only to be told they arent. I had an appointment and waited over 1 hour to be seen and was scheduled with an appointment , no one ever came and checked up and let me know the dr was running late, or behind. There is a reason we are being seen in pain management maybe because we can't sit so long! read more

My special needs son had an appointment today to have a heart monitor put on. We had a 9:30 appointment time and arrived 15 minutes early as they requested. We checked in, filled out the forms and waited. After 1/2 hour I checked in again and was told to be patient. After an hour I went to the desk again and asked when we would go in. She checked and found that no one was even working in that department today! I had to take a 1/2 day off from work and lose a 1/2 day of pay and they couldn't have told me this! The office in Enfield in poorly run to say the least. I also heard 2 other people going to 2 other departments complain and leave. Whoever runs this office should be terminated. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Scott Walker for several years. He listened to my concerns and wisely referred me to a specialist when a major health situation was detected and resolved. I always feel like he cares and wants me to feel better as soon as possible. In the past I have had lukewarm feeling about the support staff - front desk in particular, but my most recent visit was an emergency and they got me in same-day. I will continue to go to their office and hope the reception improves to the level of the actual doctors and medical assistants. Sometimes trying to get refills or messages to through their system is cumbersome. My review score is based mainly on how I feel about my doctor there. read more

I would b not recomend Starling physicians. Starts with making an appointment with a very unwelcomed greeting letting you know you are bothering them to get an appoinment. Went for a physical with a Dr. Savenelli. I wanted to address an issue I was having and he said "hold it right there. If you want to talk about anything you have to book another appointment or get charged double right now. I'm telling you this now so I dont get a bad review for not telling you you will be double billed. Insurance companies expect us to work for free". Needless to say I wont be going back to this guy. I had to go back to pulmonary today, receptionist was very nice. So an APRN who kept interupting and talking over me and gave me conflicting information from DR. McArdle. When I asked why she said he probably didn't read your chart, followed by a very condosending lecture about not using CPAP correctly. read more

I saw Christine McCray in Rheumatology in Farmington. She was horrible. She first attacked me as if I was there for pain medication. Then proceeded to tell me my diet, supplements, and herbal remedies that I was taking for pain and inflammation was not helpful. What a terrible thing to say to a patient with arthritis pain who is trying so hard to take care of herself in a healthy manner. I know where I was and where I am today and there is no doubt that my herbs, no sugar, eating healthy to help stop inflammation, excerising, and supplements has helped tremendously with my arthritic pain. I was stunned, angry and hurt with her attitude and words. I was there because I wanted to know if there was anything else that could help in managing my pain. She never went over the x-rays taken, and low and behold I have a nodule in my hand that needs to be removed and is causing severe hand pain. (I took a picture of my hand where I received a cortisone shot, and where the nodule that needs to be removed is.) This was one reason for seeing this rheumatologist. I ended up going to Dr. Scarengello who is now taking care of this. Christine is a horrible doctor. She never went over one x-ray that had been taken at my follow-up appointment. I had several x-rays done of both hands and feet. She needs to find another profession. So discouraging and frustrating. read more

I have gone to Starling (Grove Hill) for many years. Although the doctors themselves are caring and competent, the office management is the worst. There is rarely staff to answer the phones. Communication is by telephone tag. Pleas to return calls go unanswered. It's impossible to get anyone on the phone, never mind an actual healthcare provider. It's infuriating! Sometimes I cannot take returned calls because I am in a meeting or in the bathroom or at the store......which is why I called when I did expecting the phone to be answered. This is a deplorable way to run a physicians office. read more

Buyer Beware. While Starling Physicians provided me with an acceptable level of care. Their billing practices border on criminal. Please read on to get a full picture of my experience. After moving to Connecticut and getting settled in, I needed to find a primary care physician. I came across Starling physicians and Dr. Evelyn Smith. I called to schedule my office Initial office visit, and was told that I my initial visit would need to be a physical in order to become an established patient, I had to wait a little over a month for this initial visit and when the time finally came for my appointment I showed up filled out the required paperwork and turned it into the front desk along with my insurance card and being card. I was told at that time that this is a physical which is considered preventative care and covered 100% by my insurance. After waiting for about 30 minutes after the appointment was supposed to start I was lead into the examination room. The nurse was courteous, took my vitals and asked me a few standard questions. She then walked out and told me Dr. Smith would be right with me. After another 20 minute wait Dr. Smith came into the exam room. She asked me all of the standard questions that go along with a physical, medical history, family history, current medications....I was a little put off when she told me right off the bat that she would not be able to prescribe my non stimulant non controlled A.D.H.D medication to me. She told me that I would need to see a physiatrist for that. Beyond that Dr. Smith was professional as she finished out the physical. As the appointment was drawing to a close Dr. Smith recommended that I go to get a diagnostic procedure done due to a condition that I listed in my family's medical history, and she sent me to Quest Diagnostics to have blood drawn as part of the standard physical. She sent me out of the room with some paperwork in hand to see the discharge person, where I asked again if I needed to pay anything (I'm not a fan of getting surprise medical bills) where I was told no. As I finished checking out I was given the name of another doctor who could preform the procedure mentioned above and told to call for an appointment. That was the end of my interaction with Starling Physicians. I went to Quest and got my bloodwork done, never heard anything back from Dr. Smith or her office regarding the results and then went home. About a month later I get a bill In the mail from Starling Physicians. I first called Starling who said they would look into why I got a bill for what should have been a covered physical. Starling said they would research it and get back to me. I never heard a word back from them. Today 2 months after my initial appointment and still no communications from Starling, I get another bill in the mail. So I again call Starling and this time get a lady who is rude and combative and talking over me who eventually hung up on me. So I then called my insurance company who told me to check my explanation of benefits. After checking the explanation of benefits I noticed that Doctor Smith and Starling charged me for 2 different visits....A medical visit and diagnostics that they charged my insurance company $402 for (my physical) which was covered as it should have been at 100%; and an additional office visit for which they charged my insurance $132 which was again paid by my insurance company minus my $25.00 copayment. I only saw the doctor once, and our visit did not go outside the scope of a covered physical, however Starling Physicians decided to code 2 different office visits hoping that my insurance company wouldn't question it (which they didn't) and that I would just happily pay the $25.00 for services they did not provide and that I did not receive. I currently have a grievance filed with my insurance company and will be contacting state regulators tomorrow morning or as soon as the AG's office opens back up again and reporting Doctor Smith and Starling Physicians for defrauding both my insurance company and myself. Though they provided a thorough exam, and I was not unhappy with the care. I believe they are crooks and are using people's Naivety to commit insurance fraud. I would not recommend Starling Physicians to anyone and would in fact warn anyone considering them to stay away and suggest that their current patients go back and take a look at their statements and explanation of benefits to be sure that they are not another victim of this predatory company. read more

I have visited this practice as a patient for over 25 years, both when it was Grove Hill Medical Center and Starling Physicians, in the New Britain and Southington offices. The doctors are competent but the office staff responsiveness has declined significantly over the past few years. Requests for prescription refills, both from myself and the pharmacy, go unapproved for days despite having seen my primary care provider the previous week. Phone messages go unanswered by office staff. Upon running out of medication and attempting to obtain refill by contacting after hours on-call physician (who is not with Starling, but another company which has no access to my medical records) I am told to fill out paperwork, set up a telemedicine appointment, and pay a copay, only to find out that refill required medical director's approval and was unlikely to be done before the next business day. When I call it takes more than 20 minutes on hold to be transferred to an answering machine. Calls are never returned. Five weeks after my appointment, the pharmacy has not received my prescription and a cpap machine has not yet been ordered. They will not connect me to the doctor, his assistant does not return calls, and the practice manager has not returned my call. Don't bother with this group, they are rude when they do answer a call and have no regard for patients. read more

I have gone to the same doctors for about 25 years and like them a lot. Unfortunately now that they are part of Starling I can't talk to them, get appointments, or get any help at all. Wait times are ridiculous. If I can't breathe they give me an appointment two months away or send me to the ER. Right now they can't make any appointments because their systems have been down for two days and they don't know when they'll be back up! Don't go here if you care about your health! Re on/gyn department. The doctors are qualified but the offices have horrible, horrible customer service. You can wait hours for your appointment. It takes forever to get a live person on the phone -- honestly waiting 10 minutes on hold is not unusual. If you have an emergency it can take the triage nurse an hour or more to call you back and when they do they have a negative attitude. They make you feel like just some number, not a human. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more

Both Doctors are extremely caring and accessible. The office staff is not only responsive but they never have any issues with billing or insurance. Tried to make an appointment to see a Pulmonologist as a new patient after being recommended to do so multiple times by Urgent Care and my ENT. I finally do the research to find one and get routed on the phone 3 times before being told they won't even make an appointment without a referral from another Doctor, PCP or Specialist. I tell them I don't need a referral with my insurance and they still require one so just to make an appointment, I have to call or see another Doctor ???? Ridiculous. I'm already a busy person and quite frankly tired of Doctors who can't see you for 3 weeks when you are sick or in this case I can't even make an appointment so I end up at Urgent Care. Back to the insurance drawing board AGAIN to find one that my insurance takes. What a waste of time! read more

My husband had to reschedule 2 times because the doctor could not keep the appointment. Then, when we tried to make payment using our credit card we made six attempts to pay by phone..no one answers the phone. We left (3) voicemails and no one returned the call. If you visit any doctors belonging to the Starling Physicians network, pay very close attention to your bills! They submitted a claim to Aetna for a visit with my doctor that never took place. After refusing to reimburse Aetna for 6 months, they finally reimbursed Aetna for their "oversight" and credited the co-pay they took out of another of my payments. They don't apply my payments to the bills I am paying. They are double and triple billing me for the same service on the same date. I accidentally paid one invoice twice but they have not credited my account or refunded the overpayment. I have diligently paid every bill and responded to every invoice showing check numbers for each invoice paid. Twice I have sent them a copy of a canceled check for a payment but they are still referring my account to a collection agency because they say I have been non-responsive to their communications. I have sent copies of everything to the doctor (who I no longer see because of her billing office). She has not been responsive to their inability to figure out my account. I even created a chart for them showing every invoice sent and every payment made. I am quite frustrated with them and am reporting them to the Dept, of Consumer Protection and the Better Business Bureau. Be forewarned!!! read more

Let's see now, my GP - Wow, he is the perfect Doctor, thorough, knowledgeable, caring, no hurry, identified my prostate cancer early on, great referrals for sleep apnea, allergies, surgery, and onsite radiology, blood draws. I came into the group via my Cardiologist from thirty odd years ago. The Doctors have changed over the years and have saved my life some three times and counting. Do you know that the one reason for aerobic exercise is to identify heart related problems early enough to be repaired. Done that twice, thanks Doc! A good reason to have this group is the continuity of computerized records on file. Doctors see your complete medical records. I can see my records on-line, make or change appointments at will. No one at reception has ever been rude. They do have a repetitive front office function, but, alas, have never kissed my ring! There are enough Doctors to move within a specialty, as I have done, to one you prefer (no big move of records, no big deal). Access is there when I needed it, same day, next day, or third day even to a new Doctor in a new to me specialty. No, we have an opening in three weeks or months! read more
