Arriving in Genoa in the middle of April on what was a very hot day, we went to our hotel - the StarHotels President. This is part of a chain in Italy (think Hilton or Marriott), and we had stayed at a StarHotels in Milan several years ago and were very pleased. The room was lovely, spacious; but, without air conditioning (at least on the first night). When we complained, they said they do not turn on the A/C until June. Excuse me; Genoa was having a heat wave! They did unlock our window so we could get fresh air into the room - so sleeping was okay. We turned on the fan in the room. However, I think many hotel guests complained, and it appeared we had A/C for the remaining days. The Wi-Fi worked really well. The bathroom was spacious, I would have preferred a bathroom with a separate shower; not one in the tub. We were shown a room with that, but it was small and cramped, so we went with this room. We were really impressed by Maria Grazia in the dining room who, on our first and subsequent mornings at the hotel, remembered us and knew that we liked cappuccinos for our breakfast drink. She was always so pleasant and welcoming.
The hotel was conveniently located across from the Stazione di Genova Brignole and the Metropolitana Di Genova (Metro). The bus stopped right outside the door to the hotel. We enjoyed several restaurants that were within walking distance of the hotel. The views from our room were stunning. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay. read more
