Note that when you order un café, they will give you an espresso, not drip coffee. Some places in Paris will make un café américan (an Americano), but most places in France do not have that on their menu or will not know what that is.

But he then helped out cause right after us a lot of people came. Mind you that this place was pretty much the only thing open in the area. You would have to drive to the other little towns if you wanted McDonald's or so on. But we were fine since this was a few feet from our hotel. I ordered the cheeseburger the way I like it. It came with fries and a drink. Which was not bad for the price. My mom ordered a fish sandwich. And I also got the little girl a burger since that is what she knows and likes. It took awhile since there was a few of us ordering. But it was alright we just chatted up and soaked up the nice place of Lourdes. The food was great. The warmth is all the more intensified by the smiling and gracious greeting by the owner/chef. She clearly intends to make you feel like an invited guest. The dining room is smart and very nicely appointed, while still retaining the rustic charm of the old farmhouse. The service is very friendly, if something less than fluent in English. But their good humor and willingness to please makes any linguistic hurdle easy to overcome. The food was exquisite. My pate foie gras was as good as I had had on this visit to Bordeaux. My main, roasted duck rolled in a crunchy pastry, was excellent. My wife's turbot was incredibly fresh and perferectly prepared. My dessert was delicious although I must confess I don't know exactly what it was, something between a custard and a panna cottam floating in a pool of a fruity sauce that added just the perfect acidic counterpoint, The wine list offers a nice range of wines, mostly from the St. Emlion region. We were able to find some moderately priced (30-40 Euros) reds 9 to 10 years old that were quite pleasant and paired well with my duck. But the capstone to the evening was the coffee service. We were invited to take our coffee in their lovely semi private rear dining room. It was the perfect setting to relax away from the dining room and savor the coffee and entire evening experience in quiet comfort. It was very busy and as we approached the entrance we were greeted with a very sweet and friendly hostess that recognized we were not local. She seated us promptly and gave us an English menu. The staff is fabulous as well....most spoke much better English then my French. We had the Plat du Jour, which was a normal serving of steak, French fries (real and crisp) and a salad. Serving size was perfect! Everything was perfect! Thank you to everyone in this fine establishment. You do a better job then 90% of the American restaurants. Merci. :)
