Immediately one of my favorite Starbucks locations.
I thought I'd seen everything, but when I walked into this one I was almost overwhelmed. SPACE. It's enormous. The building might have been a supermarket before Seattle invaded. Seating over 100 people comfortably, this may be the largest Starbucks I've ever been to, despite the heaps of competition here in Buenos Aires.
Other than that, this place isn't decorated as fancily as a few other downtown spots, but it doesn't try to be. Consider the location: This isn't bohemian San Telmo, this is the heart of downtown. So what this location does is make everything beautiful in a more modern, minimal style. Rather than going over the top with mirrors and chandeliers, this location uses simple but memorable color patterns and decor more typical of a US location, but rendered extremely well.
This would be one of my top three spots to show fellow US expats the difference between Starbucks at home and Starbucks in BA. They're playing a completely different game down here, and I love it. read more
