I was there for a full set, and Tiffany was rude. She said she could do my design, and in the end, she said she didn't know how to do marble design. Then I asked if she could clean around my nails and take off the extra hard acrylic, and she gave me attitude and grabbed my hand hard and put it right in front of my face and said better, and at the same time, the clear nail polish spilled in my jeans and all she did was rub it off. She made me feel terrible. The sad thing is that I was her first customer in the morning, and you felt like it was no need for her to treat me that way. I think if someone is paying for service, we have the right to say how we like our nails. The customer makes your business no customers no business. If you treat someone nice, you get that back, but here it was not. read more

The two of us went into Star Nails today to get pedicures and manicures which included getting our nails redone. It's 107° outside and the owner Anna refuses to put on air conditioning because it's either broken or she's too cheap but while we sat there for the hour and a half that we were in the salon, at least $1000 worth of business came in and out and they do not take credit cards they'll take Venmo cash or a check but they don't want your checks. Not having air conditioning when your clientele is mostly women in their 50s 60s and 70s is just terrible. The work has gotten lower as well. I'm giving this place one star because that's all it deserves. read more

I usually go here when I need my nails done, this last year was a hit and miss. One of the times my nails looked like a 13 year old did them, but they fixed them and they were perfect the next time. Seems as she was "occupied" and "rushing." This last time I went, I went to get a fill on my nails and the lady ended up ripping my real nail off and had me wash my hands and proceeded to reapply after I asked her if it was safe to do so and she said yes, well here we are now went had my nails filled and my new nail tech spotted a discolored spot like a bruise on that same nail which then turned into an infection. I went to the doctor and had it confirmed that it was, thankfully my body fought it off. Please pay attention and trust your own instinct! read more

I would rather not have my nails done and look unkept then go here again. I don't like to leave bad reviews unless it's absolutely necessary and unfortunately that's the case here. I got a pedicure and manicure by the same person. The pedicure I was asked gel over two dozen times and I kept saying I want regular. It was not relaxing to have that be the entire hour I try to normally zone out and listen to a podcast. The pedicure chair itself was uncomfortable and the massage was not pleasant. All the chairs were worn where they massage. I chose the most expensive package and wish I'd gone with the cheap one. The blue scrub they put on my legs wreaked of listorine mouth wash. The massage felt torturous and the person only focused on one spot on my right calf between the bone. The left leg was barely massaged. I hurt for a couple days after. The paint on my toes had clear coat on only one half of my big toe. Moving onto the manicure, the person did not even ask me what shape I wanted. They just started cutting my nails all Willy nilly with a cuticle cutter. That did not match the nail shape I had previous and ruined a month and half of growth. Then I stopped them on nail two explaining and just kept going. The nail file was of large grit rather than fine and they left my nails lopsided filed with a point. Oh, and the nail file had been previously used because there was paint on it that I did not have on or painted that day. Same issue with clear coat and general accuracy of painting. The shop itself is run down with multiple broken ceiling tiles. It was the only place in red bluff I could get a reservation and now I know why. Pass if you can and do your own at home. read more

I would leave zero stars if I could. I made a 4oclock appointment for three people and they said they had availability for all of us. When we got there, they said they were understaffed and could only take us one at a time (keep in mind we made the appointment about an hour prior, on the exact same day). The first person in my group got sat down at about 4:30, and I went second and didn't get sat down until 5:45. I would have left sooner but I had no other time to get my nails done. The third person in my party didn't even get her nails done because we were tired of waiting. I got a gel manicure and the lady didn't even file/shape my nails because she was rushing to get me done. I had a Powder Dip Nail service done here on Thursday. Tiffany assured me they wouldn't be thick and lumpy and would last longer than gel. My nails look awful, the top coat is peeling off, my cuticles look atrocious, and she filed my nails into the most awful shape. She ended the service by telling me she didn't take cards and grabbed $30 from my hand when I showed her that was all I had. I think she was trying to hide her earnings from Anna and the government. Awful experience. Tiffany said I could soak my nails in hot water and it would peel off. Additionally, I had researched that powder nail was safer because it didn't need uv light. She had me use the light at every step. I can not soak off this color. I cannot file and use acetone to get off this color. What a liar. read more

If i could give them a zero i would : i went in on Friday and got my toes and nails done : they barley did anything for my pedicure & charged me $35 instead of $25 when no extra services were even done . Then ALL of my nails had lifted off by Monday . I went back in the get a refund and they refused to give me one. So my only option was to have them redo my nails . When she redid my nails she refused to do the shape i wanted which was coffin : after asking over ten times i finally gave up and just let her do the square shape which i hate and never get . I will never come back to this place and if i was you id avoid it at all cost . Nothing was done the way i asked and she rushed threw the process each time and there was no customers waiting or anything to even make her rush . Ive never had a worse experience getting my nails done in my life and ive been getting my nails done for over ten years. UPDATE: my nails are lifting again : and ones lifted completely off after a SINGLE day this time. Not only did i not get the shape i wanted im also losing all my nails after a SINGLE day. I wish i was making this up however im not. This is now the second time this has happened. At least last time my nails made it two almost three days, but this time it's LITERALLY been a SINGLE day. Upon arriving, I was sat at table #3. Tiffany I believe her name was. She began working on my hands while continuously pulling my arm closer. She wiped her nose and mouth several times during my mani. While my nails were wrapped she began drilling her cuticles with the same attachment she used on my nails. I asked several times if she could cut my nails and all she did was file them all janky "I didn't cut too short, I just filed them". So clearly not doing what I requested. Once I moved to my pedicure it took a very very long time to complete. I was then told I could only pay by cash or Venmo. They should state this when you call to make an appointment or upon arrival. Place is unhygienic and barely any sanitation between clients either. This place sucks and I will not be returning nor recommending to family or friends. read more

I used to go to Star Nails religiously for acrylics and fills every 2 weeks, then their work began to go downhill. The nails started to look messier, I was walking out with cuts on most of my cuticles, uneven nails, and polish all over the sides of my fingers. They took absolutely no care in trying to prevent you from being cut with the cuticle clippers or the sharp edges of the nail file. If you complain about shoddy work, they tell you that you're being too picky, or just dismiss you completely! Their hygiene is subpar. The pedicure basins are not sanitized after every customer. With how careless they are with cutting you, a dirty basin that has seen 20 to 40 dirty feet before yours is the perfect recipe for a serious staph infection and sepsis. The final straw came when one of the men was doing my nails. He smacked my hands like I was a 3 year old, and snapped "Don't do that!" when I lightly tapped the acrylic dust off my hands when he was done filing them. I. Was. Livid. I haven't been back since, and I used to spend a lot of money there. Actually, I've found most of the techs have incredibly rude dispositions. I do NOT ever recommend going there. Find yourself a reputable salon with a licensed technician, not this trainwreck of a "salon". P.S. If you still decide to go there, make sure you're not overcharged. I was overcharged on 2 occasions. The first time I assumed it was a mistake, and she gave me the rest of my money. The second time I had to, literally, argue to get correct change back by referring to their posted prices and adding it up for her! I have no idea why I continued to give them business for so long. I was surprised to get a quick appt but when I got there I I waited 45 min with nobody talking to me. The lady who finally showed up was very rushed. She didnt cut my nails or prep the cuticles at all, and thought they looked ok at a glance my manicure (which was 15$ more than they told me for a basic gel) was very messy. Lumpy, and one was crooked. Its now 10 days later and 2 have lifted from the nail bed, one is peeled up from underneath, amd my thumb amd pinky nails still hurt. I honestly don't even know where to begin with this review. I have been to Star Nails a total of 5 times now and only ONCE did I get anything close to a decent manicure and that was from a boy named Kenny I have not seen since. The owner, Sonny, seems very nice and chummy with what I assume are regular, weekly customers but if you are not one of the elite you are assigned to an ever rotating collection of hacks I suspect are unlicensed. On my 3rd visit an older guy was doing a French Manicure for which I paid extra. When I finally got my hands back, I was shocked at the truly terrible job he had done. The polish did not cover the entire nail bed but pooled on the edge of my pinkies and the white line was nothing near the crisp arch that defines the French Manicure. In short, it was a hot mess. I politely told the guy I was not happy with the job pointing out the problem areas but he just smiled and nodded his head - clearly English was not his strong suit. But then neither is nail care. I returned later that day to speak to Sonny who begrudgingly made some repairs but it was still sub-par. The only way to fix would be to start over and he made it clear I was inconveniencing him. I vowed then not to return to the shop but relented and made an appointment when I couldn't get in anywhere else. I really should have taken it as an omen. Today's visit was the worse yet. The polish job I received looks like a small child did it. In fact, I believe my granddaughter would have done a better job of it. Polish was sloshed without regard to where my nail ended and the surrounding skin began. But the icing on the cake was when the dangerously unskilled manicurist cut my cuticle so badly they had to use super glue to stem the bleeding. I actually felt sorry for the girl as she was CLEARLY terrified Sonny would find out. She must have apologized a hundred times. One. Hundred. Times. At least. So that is my tale of woe. Heed my warning! DO NOT GO TO STAR NAILS. Ever, ever, ever! If you can't get in anywhere else, do your nails at home and save yourself the aggravation and possible infection. I wish I had!!!!!!! UPDATE: In under 24 hours the gel polish began to flake off. If you know anything about gel, you know that it will last 2 weeks before even chipping so for it to just peel off like that tells me the prep wasn't done properly - adding to my suspicion the shop employs unlicensed, untrained manicurists. Just an update. Still love this place BUT had a spa pedicure there about 2 months ago. First ever, anywhere. I now have an infection in 3 toes on my left foot. I will take partial blame as I knew the spas weren't being cleaned up to Ca State Board Code. I worked as a hairdresser over 30 years ago. The laws are very strict. More so now. The day I was there and previous days for acrylic fingernails, I've watched them rinse the bowl out between customers. They do not clean out the drains from dead skin, scum and dirt from others. Not enough time and still see so many people. I may go back for my acrylics but never, ever will I go for a pedicure. Makes you wonder if ALL the instruments are being cleaned in Quats ( sanitizer used in salons) between clients. read more

I have never had a worse experience at a nail salon. I've been getting my nails done for years and not once have I ever had a technician use the same cuticle nipper they had just used on me, on themselves while my nails were curing. He then tried to use them on me again after I just watched him clip his skin off his finger. I then asked that he not use them again and proceeded to use them on my hand again. At one point he commented about how "gross" my cuticles were and how much he had to clip. He did not use a brand new file or buffer either. I am very, very unhappy with the service I was provided here... Now I m someone whom stands by the 3 chance rule... I'll try something 3 ties... One mistake happens... Two is a coincidence... Three times is the norm... I have now given this place 3 tries over about two years.... I will NEVER go here again!!! My first time to this location, the gal made my finger bleed and I got a nail infection... The second time they made my nails so thick that had they been short, I would have looked like I had bubble nails.... two different people each time did my nails.... I went in today for the third time to get myself a birthday present nail set, 6/13/2018 at about 5:30pm and didn't get out until about 7:50. I went in for a pointed tip (stiletto) acrylic nail set. My original color option was not able to be done so I asked for a basic red base with a very simple tuxedo/ arrow shaped tip in black... I don't know her name but I had the older woman doing my nails... Anna was sweet as always but the lady whom actually did them... Not only did I not get the stiletto tips I wanted (she gave me oval nails), but I got misshapen and uneven nails, bubbles in the gel lacquer, a very bad tuxedo tip even after I tried to correct her, and lacquer all over my fingers! She even painted the top coat over my skin on my pinky's!!! My niece at the age of 7 doesn't end up with so much polish on her own fingers when she paints her nails, that I had smudged on mine by the end of my session!!! I am heartbroken and so upset I could cry.... This was my only birthday gift to myself and it was botched so badly... Three different people... I would give -1 star if I could. All I needed was a fill. 1. I called ahead of time, they said come in we can do it right now. I drove from the Walmart parking lot to Star Nails, (like 5 mins away). They had me sit and wait for an hr. They skipped me 2x, saying, "We will be right with you." 2. They didn't take all the polish off (dark color) and painted the gold color over the dark parts, So it looked like my nails were gross and dirty. She also put acrylic over the dark paint. YUK 3. My nails hurt so bad especially the one I asked her to be aware of that I was fighting back tears. Pointing out to her that the picture and my paint looked nothing alike she says it's special just for you.... When I replayed it's not what I wanted she puts more thinking to compinsate and they look terrible. I was over charged again adding to the price and upon leaving I told owner they were ugly hurt and the worst manicure I've had. My fill should have been only 30. It was twice thst. The lines aren't straight not one of them I'd shaped right even or the color is asked for. The paint on my skin from her polishing them made my hands look like a child had painted them. These ladies got me an appointment with very little notice. I own livestock and it's summer. I gallivant around in cow pens and goat pens in flip flops. Needless to say, my feet were DISGUSTING . Cracked, blackened heels, broken toenails, etc. The definition of God awful. Lanny, who shall now be called Saint Lanny, made my feet smooth, made my broken and cracked toenails beautiful, and didn't judge when I picked a nail polish that will allow me to walk around at night without aid of a flashlight. This sainted woman made no comment about my hairy ass legs ( I AM from Humboldt), and the only thing I regret was not sneaking in a yeti full of wine to complete the experience( and the massage chair? Beware! I made an appointment for pedicure and manicure for my son's wedding. I don't regularly get my nails done and this was my first time here. I picked out a color and then they suggested a shade lighter so I said okay. I said I wanted a regular mani/Pedi. I have never had gel polish so was unaware that was what they were doing. Two weeks later when I tried to rove the polish it would not come off. I called them and man said "you must have asked for gel". I said absolutely not; I asked for a regular polish. He argued with me (no apologies). I then asked for an appointment to take off the polish. He said it would cost $10. After paying over $60 for the original service I said "NO", you should remove the polish for free because I did not ask for gel. He said "No, you will pay".
