These are what they made in fashion camp, even more than these.

My two girls went to fashion camp at Westport elementary school last week, and they create their own line of slumber party product. Both of them love it. Every morning they were excited to go to camp and when they come home they just talk a lot about camp. I can tell they love the camp so much.

They splash around in the waves with staff and the staff is wonderful. The highlight is when the ice cream truck comes by after lunch and everyone buys a treat. All treats are pre packed with easy to read ingredients, so very accessible for those kiddos with food allergies too. All the classics - big sticks, ice cream sandwiches, bomb pops, jaw breakers, snowcones, pickles, banana on a stick, cotton candy buckets, paletas, and more. It's also one of the few camps where you purchase by the day vs the week, so the flexibility is great. It's California. Going to beach camp is a rite of passage. So is the sand you bring home in your car too.

Since I don't attend the camp myself, I asked my 10-year old what he liked about it and he said: "the staff is really friendly because even if you make a mistake and do something wrong, they don't yell at you. They let us play in the sand, there are tons of games and activities (there's a game where they said a certain type of action and you have to do it or you lose; there's also a game where we pair up in teams and capture the flag), we go to the ocean two or three times a day to swim and play games there. They're really nice and there's ice cream truck every day and pizza on Friday." Speaking of the staff, they are truly one of the best (especially Jessica!!!) and so responsive! Truly one of the best camps around. (I wish they have them in the Bay Area). Highly recommend!

There is a super fun new activity to look forward to each day of camp, such as a petting zoo, water play, magic show, bubble party, and so much more! They also have different themed rooms for their favorite activities, such as sewing, a game room, library, and baking. My daughters both excitedly show me their bakery item of the day they helped make! The hours are the best around, open from 8 am to 6 pm, with the flexibility to drop off and pick up at your convenience. They also serve lunch and snacks, so it is a super stress-free summer! I also really appreciate the staff, it truly shows how much they enjoy their jobs and show they care for the kiddos. I wish I had this type of camp when I was growing up! I am so grateful to Steve and Kate's Mar Vista and I highly recommend them!

I feel that she genuinely cares about the children, making sure they have a great time and are well taken care of. One day, my son missed a face-painting opportunity because I picked him up before his turn. He was very sad. After I told Molly about this, she arranged a face-painting session for him hte next day! He was so happy when he came home. I definitely recommend this camp and truly appreciate what they do.

The Turning Point School is also a great location - both indoors and outside. My 4th grader did the Makers Movement camp in Culver City and created a marble course that lights up when the marble passes through part of the course. Now he's regularly taking things apart and rebuilding them, and creating his own things, giving me lessons about batteries and electricity. This has come in handy as we're planning centerpieces with a lighting component for my older son's Bar Mitzvah! My 7th grader designed a video game with his team at Galileo, which was great for skill and confidence-building, and for teamwork. He had a great time and watching him presenting his game along with his team made me so happy and proud. My kids, husband and I were so happy with our Galileo experience and we've enrolled for this coming summer for more.

This location is at the beautiful Turning Point School in Culver City, adjacent to Surfas, and the metroline. The parking lot is small but the staff were great at directing traffic and getting everyone in and out. They ask you to walk your child for check-in on the first day, and then your child may be dropped off at valet on the subsequent days. Pick-up is always inside and you must show ID (nice safety measure). My daughter made a vacuum and was so excited to share her experiences each afternoon at pick up. She also had an unfinished (?) nightlight in her bag on her last day. We purchased the extended care for the week (because we work full-time regular office hours and planned to have our daughter there from 8-6). The last day (Friday) had a "closing ceremony" at 2:30 PM. I was disappointed because we weren't aware of this at enrollment. It was very difficult to attend and the entire camp literally closed down afterwards. Luckily I got the day off, but otherwise, my daughter would have been "stuck" there until 6 and it really did feel like they were "done". Most of the kids already had a mindset that they were done and packed, and the staff seemed to be ready to say goodbye as well. Meals and snacks are not included - bummer! Choicelunch, a hot food delivery service is available. One other disappointment for me - I decided to change locations (from Culver City to Brentwood) because of the commute and was charged a fee. Culver City was already waitlisted, so in my opinion, I just freed up another spot for them and shouldn't have accrued a charge. The customer service representative told me that it "takes a lot of work" to exchange locations but I just don't understand it. Galileo is new to So Cal and I would expect them to make some exceptions, especially if I'm helping them out (by freeing up a space). It's difficult to say if we'll return to Galileo next year. My daughter enjoyed it but she has enjoyed all the other camps she's attended. She's got an outgoing and fun personality, and she doesn't have difficulty meeting friends and enjoys challenges. There are other camps in LA that are also fun, offer meals and/or snacks and are less expensive.

They have so many fun activities planned every day, so there is always something for the kids to look forward to. They also take field trips every other week, which my son loves! It gives me such peace of mind knowing that he is somewhere safe, having fun, staying active, and making great memories during the summer. I witnessed that firsthand when my kid enrolled in Iverbe's Sat morning basketball league as a total newbie and I noticed that none of his teammates ever picked on him for ... let's put it gently, "lacking skills". After the first game, my husband and I winced, raced off to buy basketballs and an air pump, and rolled our neighbor's hoop into our driveway for weekly practice. His loyal servants at his service! There's no fairytale ending here, but my son got a little better, and what I remember most is how playful the kids were during practice, letting each other learn at their own pace. No negative attitudes, no name-calling, no finger-pointing. Fortunately, my son reported the same experience at Iverbe's summer camp. As a parent, what stands out most is that Iverbe has created an emotionally safe environment for my child. It's well-run, the price is great, they provide free lunches, and my high-energy kid gets to burn off steam through sports.
