This magical farm is set in the most beautiful valley beneath the DH Lawrence Ranch…read more I stayed in one of the tipis for 2 nights in the middle of August 2024. The farm has all kinds of amenities; hot tub, soaking tub, saunas, open barn with electricity and areas to lounge, hot showers, laundry and clean bathrooms. It has many cabin options but I chose the tipi. I took my two small dogs and they were welcomed with open arms and strategically placed poop bags. It rained a bunch but that added to the incredible sights, smells and feeling of being far far away from civilization but only 20 minutes north of Taos There is a great market between for food/drink needs. No restaurant on the farm but plenty of grills and places to lounge. We got to meet 4 alpaca, 3 sheep, 5 goats, 1 donkey, 3 turkey and many chickens! It is a owned and run by a wonderful couple who grow goji berries, as well as many other plants, flowers and veggies. A must see!

Whereas many of the past guests rated it poorly (the current rating…read moreof this place is only 3.5 stars as of April 2026), I, fortunately, had a wonderful experience at this one of the oldest health spas in the country. From the stretch (yoga class before soaking) to soaking in 8 different pools to dining at the resort restaurant to shopping in the gift shop, everything exceeded my expectations where the only proper thing to do is to give it a perfect 5-star review. I bought the "soak and stretch" combo thing with 90-minute yoga class in a yurt. I paid the weekend pricing ($85) as I went here on a Sunday but it was all worth it as it turned out, I was the ONLY student in the class so I had an intimate 1-on-1 session with Julie, my instructor who made the class level so easy for me. It was also my first time to attend a yoga class in a yurt, certainly one-of-a-kind opportunity that I had never experienced in the past. A few pools were closed (one of them was the arsenic one), having access to 8 pools was plenty. My favorites were Soda pool (inclosed/covered) and Mud pool but frankly all pools have their own unique "healing" elements to them whereby immersing your whole body in them patiently, you will become a whole new person inside out. The locker rooms/showers/toilets etc. (in short, amenities) were all well-maintained and clean. The beach chairs were plenty throughout the resort. When not soaking, relax in one of them by simply sunbathing or do some reading. The surrounding environment is also a healing element to your eyes and mind. After soaking, head to the restaurant/wine bar for a nice meal (which I did. After yoga stretching and soaking in different pools, I sure was famished). My waiter, Jacob, was most polite and attentive to my needs. The Grilled Ruby Trout with a bed of wild rice is what I ordered and I cannot recommend it enough. This is a must-get item off the menu. A glass of Justin (red) wine ended up being a fantastic choice to accompany my meal. After my quick meal, I headed to the gift shop for a little souvenir. I got me one of the branded crop top tees (only $22 or so) to commemorate my visit to the resort for the first time (I had waited for almost 10 years before I could finally visit Ojo; it was simply way too long of a wait.) The final little thing I did was to walk around the property to take some awesome photos of the surrounding nature. Ojo's setting is simply breathtaking and spectacular. My trip to Taos area was too short. Had I had one more day, I would have done an all-day soaking, not just several hours. That is my only regret. Back in the hustle bustle life in Denver, I am already in need for another good soaking. I could go back to Ojo by tomorrow.

Many years ago when I worked at City Hall, I would donate a portion of every paycheck to United Way. As a thanks, Ojo Caliente gifted us a visit for two during the week. Last year I brought my little card to see if I could still use it. The girl at the front desk asked the person in the room behind. she came out and assured me that since Covid had thrown wrench into everything that they would definitely accept my gift card on my next visit. we laughed at how old it was, but it didn't have an expiration date. My daughter's birthday was on Saturday. It was Mother's Day weekend so we decided to come on Monday. I presented my card to the front desk, girl she took it to the lady in the room behind her. The lady in the room behind her, went to the other side where people check into their rooms. She proceeded to come back and tell me that it was expired. I tried to plead to her good nature, telling her how we had been assured last year that we would be able to use it. Then I asked for card back and she didn't want to give it back. my daughter had to intervene and tell her that it wasn't theirs. I felt like I was a young adult presenting a fake ID and having my ID confiscated.. we paid for our day passes and tried to reset our minds to have the great day we had planned. i know that running a business is expensive and would have made food/gift shop purchases equal to the cost of our day passes in appreciation. So disappointed in Vallecitos Mountain Retreat Center staff, Registration manager, Jan Estep…read more I had to cancel my meditation retreat due to my mother's emergency hospital stay (mom is 78 and had an unforeseen ER) and I was given no refund for the payment made for the shuttle-that I did not ride; comfort pack,-I never used; or partial balance- for a stay and food I did not use. Although I used no resources I was given Zero dollars back from this retreat center. So much for compassion, love and light. Additionally, her last email stating I was to receive no money back made a threat that I should be happy that they "will not ask [for me] to pay the remaining portion that was covered by the award." I was given a partial fellowship-I applied for the indigenous fellowship which helped to pay a bit of the amount and apparently I would be expected to pay that back too-for a retreat I could not attend. So much for helping the indigenous people of the land. I am from New Mexico and really disappointed in the way I was treated by the staff running the sacred indigenous land-maybe nothing has really changed. All my relations. Margie Torrez

Lee was quick to call me back and got me scheduled for an hour and a half. I originally had not requested hot rocks as I have had these done in the past at other places and was never impressed. Lee assured me that was because I had never had hot rocks the way she does it so I agreed to adding hot rocks. I did the hot rocks massage with the foot reflexology and treatment. Lee emailed me very detailed directions to the location and I found it easily. From the moment I walked in till I walked out (very relaxed and happy) I had a great experience. She definitely has changed my mind about hot rocks and they were great! I loved that she uses hot rocks, tuning forks and a variety of other things to create a very wonderful, relaxing and great experience. Lee is VERY reasonably priced too and I feel like I more than got my money's worth. Sadly I don't live in Taos so I don't know if I will ever get to have a massage this awesome again, but you can bet if I am ever in Taos again I will for sure be booking an appointment with Lee.
