I've been going here for at least 6 months. Jason is an extremely good guy and works as hard as anyone I've ever met. He remembers everyone and once you settle on a haircut he has a photographic memory of how to cut your hair forever. He also remembers your name after one visit. It's sort of crazy. He does a great job on my hair for a fair price and is extremely efficient. I have no plans to go anywhere else. A few tips: 1) Don't walk in and expect to be seen right away. Because, 2) His repeat customers schedule an appt. So he's going to keep the schedule and fit you in as he can...which could be awhile. Also, 3) Schedule the next day only. Not two weeks from now and not today at 4pm. This is advice I rec'd from another client of his and it works 100% of the time. I think one time around Xmas I had to schedule two days out, but that's only happened once. This place is basically appointment only. Which is fine, except there's no indication of that fact. I walked in, saw one fellow waiting and thought I'd be able to get a haircut. The barber said hello. It nothing else. I waited 30 minutes, and when it was my turn, the barber did he had an appointment first who was waiting out side the barbershop, and there was another appointment after that. If I had known he was booked through the next hour and a half, I wouldn't have waited 30 minutes for haircut I wasn't going to get. Just beware - make an appointment. read more

After reading several reviews I walked into this barbershop expecting a long wait. Sure enough I waited 2 hours from my haircut. No I was okay with this wait because I was a walk-in and I assumed I would receive a quality haircut. I'm not sure if I said something to upset the guy because I didn't really say much at all, but I spent 7 minutes in that chair total. I asked for a fade and what I got was essentially a buzz cut on the side of my head and a choppy mess on top. I was speechless, so I paid the guy and left and only once I got in my car did I realized that there was a whole line on my head where he hadn't even cut the hair. If I could give negative Stars I would. I went across the street to a Hispanic Barber shop, the guy took one look in my head and asked me if I got my haircut across the street..... I was a customer for 28 years and today I am no longer. I got there just after 6 a.m. and after waiting through two customers before me, he took an appointment that just came in. Then he rudely told me he has three appointments. He knows I moved away and still come to him from 26 miles away. He could have told me instead of letting me sit for almost an hour before telling me. He is a quality barber but I must replace him with someone who values me as a customer. read more

Had my first visit here while visiting from California. My first choice wasn't open until noon so I stopped here. When I walked in only one patron was inside with the barber. I got in around 10:30am and managed to get my haircut with Jason. Awesome cut. Followed the instructions I provided. Incredibly inexpensive but cash only - no ATM in the store. Don't waste your time. First you go in and wait, while the temperature is set at "sauna" level. Then after everyone in front of you gets their haircut, and you think it's your time, the barber picks who he wants to take next and makes up some crazy excuse why the people that walked in 30 - 45 minutes after you should go next. I will never step foot in that place ever again and you shouldn't either. Well this guy has cut my hair for three years. When COVID hit he suffered as many business owners did and I feel for Jason. But the guy refuses service to individuals who are wearing masks as he requires but if he heads you mention your personal opinion regarding the virus, and it doesn't meet his view of the virus, then he refuses service. Even though there is no mask mandate in the state he practices in. He refuses to do any beard services while maintaining the same pre COVID prices. The end of this barber shop is near. It used to be packed with people.now you go into a primarily empty shop and he takes people who walk in hour after you and says they have appointment. But when you ask how you can make an appointment for yourself he can't answer you nor have I ever heard him Take an appointment over the phone while sitting there. read more

I had a pretty disappointing experience here. The barber gives a great haircut, I will say that. Today was my third time here, and I asked how many people were in line - 2 he said. He told me to sign the list and write my number and I could wait outside. So I did - for over an hour. When I started noticing people coming out of the shop who entered After I was in there, I went in and asked how many more people are in line. He said a couple people and pointed to some new faces. I told him I'd been waiting in my car over an hour and wrote my name like he said I should. I told him he said he was going to call me when it's my turn. He seemed agitated and said that these people are waiting. He said he could see me next. I just left. The thing is, I would've waited inside like everyone else but he told me he would call when it was my turn. I had even written down my time and phone number to help him figure out who's next. Great haircuts, great prices, Jason is a super nice guy but the wait to get your hair cut is TOO. F#%!?G. LONG. If you work a 9-5 and have to get your hair cut on the weekend, it is perfectly normal to have to wait 2-3 hours to get your hair cut. I drive all the way from Martinsburg but I think I'll just spend the extra money to avoid the drive and wait. read more

i went today at 3:30 pm for my haircut and waited for almost for an hour. The barber was discussing politics with his customer while the customer was in the chair and cutting was in process. I asked him that how much more time you will take to finish this. He very arrogantly and rudely replied it may take one more hour to finish his hair cut. I asked him again that i have been waiting here for the last one hour but he replied in a bad-mannered and instructed me to come tomorrow or after an hour because the customer in chair is my friend and discussing politics. This has got to be the BEST barber shop ever! Head barber Jason, always makes each and every customer feel welcome! It's all about customer service at Star Barber Shop! They give a first class cut every time -- and the price is awesome! One of my coworkers goes to Star Barber all the way from Ashburn! I live in Leesburg and do not mind the enjoyable ride out to Winchester to have Jason cut my little grandson's hair! My two nephews are Marines, and they will drive from Warrenton to Winchester to have Jason give them their "high and tights" whenever they are home on leave! Spent about an hour here between the relatively short wait and the very thorough haircut and beard trim on my husband. The three gentlemen cutting hair were all very meticulous, exact, and serious about their work.
