Optometrist was very good but the rest of the experience was regrettable. Buying your glasses is like buying a used car. It's a continuous negotiation with prices varing widely. The price for my glasses was quoted over a $100 difference over 4 different quotes I was given. They also added a retinal scan to your visit since my last visit here. I was never told the results but it appeared in several of the quotes costing up to $30. I went in for a 50% off sale and still ended up with a quote over $300 for single vision lenses and an inexpensive frame. read more

Scheduled an appointment by calling the number given online, was sent to a central call center. Appointment made for 1:30pm. Arrived at 1:20, filled out pre-screening on the tablet given to me. I needed to get a quick eye appointment before heading back to school (as I couldn't get an appointment with my usual eye Dr. in time). The eye exam was much faster than what I was used to. It seemed only like the Dr. was trying to get my new contract prescription but not check on the health of my eyes. (It also was more expensive than they advertise!) I got my prescription and ordered a month's supply of contacts to be delivered to me at school. I planned to order the remaining contacts at Costco or 1-800-Contacts since it would be cheaper but I wanted to get some new contacts ASAP. I also asked for a few extra "samples" and they refused, despite the delay in me getting contacts. Approximately two weeks went by and I still did not have my contacts, nor had they been shipped. I called customer service and they told me that they don't sell my contacts in that quantity which is why they didn't yet ship. At this time I told them to cancel my order and refund me, I would buy them elsewhere. The customer service man was nice and told me he would contact the store for me and issue a refund. However, months later I never got the refund, nor did I get the contacts. Needless to say, don't go here! read more

This place is great. They have a great selection. Staff was friendly, but ups sold me on the first visit. To the tune of $800 plus for two pairs of eyeglasses. The glasses were terrible, but exchanges are easy and full refunds are possible. The Greer location was a lot more professional and was more realistic with my vision issue. Very unhappy, did not even get to see a doctor in person. They had one on the television in front of you who clicked away and asked 1 or 2. No personal service. no one to look in your eye beside the machines a nurse puts you on. How can you see the health of your eye without a Dr. looking in them. No chance to ask questions as the Tv Dr. runs through it and clicks on the next patient. As I feared I could not even see out of the glasses she prescribed. The doctor is nicer and more helpful than his staff. The staff just needs further customer service and communication training imo. My appt was quick and the wait times aren't very long. I only go to the eye doctor every 2-4 years for an RX renewal so take that info into consideration. You get what you pay for with these kinds of places. Not many designer glasses brands to pick from so if that's your thing, I would try another place like MyEyeDr or a private practice. I updated my lenses in my current designer glasses (from another facility) and I order contacts online. I purchased a pair of non-prescription blue light glasses for $30 from Stanton that I do like. read more

They make sales on the base of lying . Long story short went in for buy one get one was assisted by Ana . Was given one pair & TOLD the other pair had to be sent out and I would be contacted when they arrive ( was not given a receipt which should've been a red flag I know ) fast forward maybe 2 weeks I was not contacted so I show up and I'm told by the sales mng that I only ordered one ( btw Ana tried assisting me once I called her out and told her she told me she sent the other pair out she got her mng and hid for the remainder of the conversation) manager told me only thing she could do is offer me the second pair for an additional $50 . I went to Stanton because they were the closest to my home.Big mistake...Price wasnt so much an issue as i dont get new glasses frequently and I always buy the best I can afford..that being said after my exam I order the best lenses with the darkest transitions and the best most expensive anti glare and scratch protection. They had no internet from a storm when I ordered so I left my cc # to expedite my order when the system came up.A week later they processed my card and actually placed my order2 weeks or so later the glasses are ready.I go to pick them up and I put them on and they seem very different.But I can read anything she gave me so I went home.I was getting headaches and watery eyes so I brought the glasses back..had to be reexamined and the found they made the glasses completely wrong..So we set about making me new glasses..but all the options weren't available...so I wasnt going to pay for glasses if they cant give me what I want...Its there to choose from, but not available.So I ask for a refund and she cheerfully complies...But cant print a receipt...She told me to take a picture of the screen...but the refund amount on the screen was zero...she could produce no documentation for the refund or the amount.Poorly run company stay away...look at the bbb reports Ill be going back in person again tomorrow if my cc company says they havent heard from them...A ridicules company read more

I went in for free eye exam and 2 pair for $79. Due to the lack of seeing a doctor for years my eyesight was terrible and I was diagnosed bifocals. After going over frames Jennifer sat with me helped me make my decision on frames as well as accepting the fact that my eyes needed these glasses. I had my first visit to Stanton Optical and it was a very good experience. I've worn glasses since I was in my 20s. This visit was one of my best visits to an eye doctor. I felt taken care of and was treated like a customer and patient should be treated. They allowed me to shop without any pressure to pick the most expensive frames and thay explained my purchase thoroughly before final payment. I will be returning for my next eye exam. I purchased glasses from this Stanton location nearly one year ago. Though my initial experience was satisfactory, when I had issues with my glasses I was extremely dissatisfied with their approach. First, one lens popped out and was lost as a result. When I returned to get it replaced I was told they could not replace one lens (HUH!!!???) so I was required to have another full set made...at nearly the same cost as my initial purchase (even though they used the frames I already bought). A few weeks later, the frame broke completely. Even though they have a one year frame warranty, I was told my particular frame is no longer available so my only alternative was to have an entire new pair of glasses made (frame AND lenses) and pay "only" 20% of the total cost (at least another $100 more out of pocket!). I protested and suggested there might be a similar frame that would accommodate my lenses. After less than a five minute search a frame was found and the glasses were complete. Their approach reminds me of the old "bait and switch" way of doing business. I have worn glasses for the better part of 50 years and have NEVER encountered such shoddy products or "service." I will never do business with this company again. read more

Spoke with Tom from the Greer SC store (he refused to give any other identifying things like last name or employee number). He refused to tell me if the store would cover the insurance but insisted on selling a visit. I would have to go in to find out if they took the insurance. When asked for someone else to answer my question he gave me a phone number and that person answered the question over the phone quickly. But he also wanted to sell a visit over phone customer service. I Just checked. My visit was on 6/29 and here it is September and I still don't have my glasses. Over two months is unacceptable.

So tomorrow will be my 3rd time visiting the location in Spartanburg SC for the same pair of glasses...smh. My initial appointment was on Wed the 17th. I informed the Dr doing the eye exam that the previous pair of glasses I purchased from them several years ago were not correct so I never wore them. I continued to wear my other glasses because there wasnt that big of a change in the prescription. Now, I notice a significant change in my left eye, which previously was the good eye and for some crazy reason the Dr made the prescription for my left eye as if it had gotten better. When I came back to try to figure out what was wrong, instead of them trying to correct the issue, they seemed to be more worried about liability and them not being to blame. But when she compared my old glasses to the new ones she can see the prescription on the new glasses had to be wrong. I would never recommend anyone to visit the company, especially not this location. Like i said, this is literally the second pair of glasses this has happened to. Went in prior to the virus shut down (mid March) to see what types of glasses you sold & find out about the eye exam. Previously had used Lens Crafter's and end up with a bill of over $400. Picked out a frame and had the person give me a price for having one frame with a single vision sun glass and one frame using my progressive lens prescription. I was given a price of less than $400 and told I could set up an appointment for an eye exam, which would be free. Because of the shut down for the virus I was unable to return until late May. Had the exam, picked out the frame I had picked out before and asked to have one pair made as a single vision sun glass & one as a progressive glass. Wad originally told a price of over $500 and than it was corrected to a best I can do is about $460. Ended up taking the deal so I could avoid the paying of the eye exam. But it would have been less to go to Lens Crafter's to get exam & glasses. read more
