Up the road from the Dredge is Custer, an old mining town with some great history and events during the year. And its just beautiful up there, take some time to hike around and enjoy the great Idaho Outdoors. Not far from Stanley Idaho, and along the Salmon River where you can find hot springs to soak in and lots of areas to camp.

One exhibit showed the past uses of clothing and its importance. One exhibit was more interactive with a train whistle you can make blow. I never knew there were two notes involved. Along with how things were different in years past. Outside there are historically significant homes. That's just a few exhibits we can remember from what we saw. I have to say I really enjoyed touring around here! I'm sure it's a lot more beautiful then when it was in operation. I loved reading the stories of the inmates, though a lot were sad stories. I spent a lot more time here than I was expecting to!
