Kelly Grill - A close up of the bourbon burger, enjoyed on the table side of the grill. On the other side of the fence is a cute bar area.

A Hidden Gem in Stanley…read more We came to town for Rock Fest and ended up eating breakfast at Kelly Grill three days in a row--and honestly, we're still thinking about it back home in Ohio! At first glance, it feels like a quiet, cozy neighborhood spot, but the welcome we received as out-of-towners was top-tier. The staff and locals were incredibly warm, engaging in great conversation and giving us fantastic advice on the local area. Now, the food: absolute gourmet bistro-level breakfast. Every plate was cooked to perfection and way exceeded expectations for a small-town grill. Plus, having a full bar available to complement whatever you order is a fantastic touch. It might be a small corner shop, but it made a massive impression on us. If you're anywhere near Stanley, do not pass this place up!

I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with guacamole, bacon and cheddar cheese. I am celiac and asked them to just leave off the bun. Man oh man, this was excellent! We were both pleasantly surprised about this small town diner. Totally recommend stopping here! Service was top notch too!

It's definitely worth the stop. There's nothing else quite like this classic supper club in the Stanley/Thorp area. This place is great for what it is. Worthy of 5-stars, especially when compared to the other options in the surrounding area (and I've eaten at most of them over the past 15-years). Please give'em some love and attention. I don't think towns like Stanley should ever lose places like Kutzee's. It's not much from the outside, but warm, classic log cabinny feel inside. You're welcomed in to a cozy bar area just inside the front door. I really wanted to hang at the bar when we walked in, alas, our hangries were getting the better of us, so we opted directly into the dining area. Our server was crazy attentive and on the mark. Well spoken, and very helpful. Food is classic supper club fare. Steaks, fish (deep fried and broiled). Baked potatoes, hash browns, fries. You know the drill. It's all filling and hangry quashing. If I had to be super nit picky I could give Kutzee's a few little knocks here and there - The minimum selection of call gins (2), bourbons (1), the unidentifiable wines by the glass (no wine by the bottle), the pre-portioned sauces and sour cream in plastic cups with plastic lids and pre-packaged salad dressing pouches are all slightly annoying. Though all are pretty forgivable and understandable given the size and style of the restaurant. Again, I'm admittedly being nit picky. Kutzee's could easily slide upscale a little tiny bit by having small fresh pepper mills and better quality (non-iodized) salt on the table, but again forgivable and understable. Our steaks were cooked on the mark, medium rare. I have no complaint with that! Half of the places in the big city can't even seem to get that right, so kudos to you Mr. Chef-man. You made our night with that small skill. On the flip side, the steaks could have been better seasoned with fresh pepper and salt prior to cooking, but the generous amount of butter added after they came off the grill helped temper that a bit. I reminisced about not having the classic supper club things I remember from my youth like the pickle relish tray and cracker basket. What I don't miss is pickled herring. ha Both the bartender (owner?) and server were extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Service was on the mark. The prices, for this big city boy, were more than acceptable too. Again I have minor quibbles, but with prices like these, big city boy isn't going to complain much. I left Kutzee's feeling sated and happy that we found someplace we'd be extremely happy to go back to the next time(s) we're in Thorp and Stanley. And our wallets didn't feel too much lighter after the experience either. Yet another check mark in the win column for Kutzee's. My final thought is this place is a secret and that's too bad! The 30-something front desk clerk at the AmeriVu hotel in Stanley didn't even know Kutzee's existed when I asked him about it. If Kutzee's invited hotel staff up for comp'd meals, I bet the future business payback would be more than worth the expense.

A nasty server gets Bob's 1 star :(…read more The food was great but I sent the following Facebook message on June 25 2015 to the establishment as soon as I got home. I got no response, but there again, didn't expect one I guess. Dear Bob: I'm making the assumption that you own the supper club that I just left. and that you were tending bar. Apologies if I'm starting out getting that wrong. I wanted to thank you for not being weird when I came in this evening with two friends, both white. I am black. When my friend Scott Tiernan suggested your establishment for dinner I didn't think I would be welcome. You were cool; you took our drink orders (we ordered Leinenkugels). Our waitress (Sandy? Sarah?) was mean, nasty, and deliberately inattentive. It was busy in there for sure but the slight was obvious. My friends and I truly think it was because she didn't want me there. She refused to cash us out so I just took my bill to the bar and another lady was nice enough to take care of it. Incidentally, I was paying for everyone and expressed my upset with our server by not tipping her well. I won't be back, and I certainly won't send friends there. I just want you to know that I wish I could have sorted out a way of tipping you instead. Warm regards, Dr. Winnifred Bryant Eau Claire, WI
