Anyone who is a California resident can get a free library card at the front desk. They are doing a fundraiser to upgrade the place. I hope they can reopen the typewriter closets into places folks video conferences online can use. The library has a security officer that keeps the over talkative from yapping too loud and will open the locked bathroom for your use.

I had an appointment at around 11am and I got there early. The lady who handled my passport application was very knowledgeable and I was out of there less then 30 minutes. I called Stanislaus County Free Library and inquired about getting an earlier appointment. The guy who was helping me said it's best to call in the morning and check for cancellations. I asked if he had anything available that day and he did!! So I was able to get in at 3:30pm. He was very helpful. I called again and had questions on what to bring to appointment and the lady who answered this time was very nice as well! So I went to my appointment and Lisa helped me. She was very friendly and super helpful. The whole process was very easy. I will definitely be back to this location to get my passport.

I our local library. Tip: They have free bookmarks at the front counter that has a running list of the Library Book Club reads along with the dates of the Book Club Meetings on them. I've yet to attend a meeting but I have been reading most of the Book Club books for about a year now and it's a great way to read things I might've not read otherwise. I found multiple open tables on that Wednesday afternoon. It wasn't a completely silent area, but it wasn't loud enough to distract me from working. There were outlets on the table, and the Wi-fi was pretty fast and reliable! There's plenty of parking in their designated parking lot. The restrooms were pretty clean and are located near the front when you enter the building. If I ever need to be in the area again, this would be my go-to study/work spot!

They have used and brand new books, but buying used that are still in in mint condition and low price is amazing. We were told that they accept used books of any kind and will get a lifetime credit that never expires. Once you get a credit and buys a used book, the price will be less 50% from the written price. I had…read moreto get back in my car drive a few blocks away to the police department which was only labeled by the police cars in the lot. For the new welcoming place for all parking permits it's remarkably unlabeled and not easy to find. Don't go to the main doors of the building go down to what seems to be a lower level area to find the police department. Also write down your license plate number yo save yourself a trip back to your car. I love that everyone just kept saying sorry new rules. Library visits require a visit to the police station. Someone call the firemen.

Who doesn't love libraries?!…read more This library is our favorite! It is kept clean, organized, and have a wide variety of children's books to choose from. Staff and volunteers are always helpful. As other libraries, this branch also offer self-checkouts and easy drop offs. They they also offer automatic extension for borrowed items and you can also put books on hold if you are waiting on a specific one. I also had a privilege of using one of the conference rooms with other mom friends to help our kids with their homework. Parking is ample and is located in downtown Brentwood, so you can also shop, eat, play and walk around after. If you also want to support the library, one way is to check out their second hand books on the second floor or donate books as well.

Not only is it location in a very busy area that would make it tough to visit if you aren't able to walk or use public transportation (parking on the street is metered & in high demand and the parking lot is beyond small), but the location itself is quite small. It feels almost like a satellite branch than an actual library. I guess it would be good for just working, but that's about it. It didn't look like it had much of a selection. Finally, I want to believe it was a one off, but the librarian who helped me was the first in over a dozen library visits who wasn't beyond friendly and helpful. She just seemed to not want to be there that day. It just capped off a disappointing trip.

The area near the entrance is often occupied by individuals who appear to be spending extended periods there and there is sometimes a strong odor by the entrance that makes the space uncomfortable. On one occasion when I came to study, I was unable to find a table with an available charging port for my laptop because several outlets were being used continuously for charging phones. It would be helpful if the library could take steps to better manage these issues and ensure the space remains clean, welcoming and safe for families, students and all community members.
