At this cost it would make no sense fixing the car. As a result, I ended up selling the car for parts to a good friend who is also a mechanic and after further review he determined that the actual problem resided in a $104 dollar sensor. It was not the clutch. This sensor would present itself as a clutch problem when in reality is just a faulty sensor. Coast Auto either did not know about the sensor or did not check properly. I lost about $6K as a result. Sorry but I will never return to Coast Auto.

Harris failed to disclose the Kia was previously a rental car. I reported Harris Oceanside to the Vehicle Authority of British Columbia on July 7, 2025 after Harris and I were not able to arrive at an mutually agreeable resolution. On September 09, 2025 the VSA determined that Oceanside failed to declare that the Kia had previously been a rental car. The VSA ruling: Based on the VSA investigation, the information and evidence, I have determined the following regarding your complaint: The purchase agreement did not indicate that the vehicle had previously been a rental car - Substantiated: The evidence demonstrates that Oceanside failed to declare that the Kia had previously been a rental car on the Purchase Agreement. Any potential resolutions are between you and Oceanside as the VSA cannot compel a Motor Dealer to do anything or respond in one way or another with regards to a specific consumer transaction. If a resolution cannot be reached betwee you and Oceanside, you have the option of seeking legal advice or civil action. This is definitely the worse car buying experience I have ever had!

The one thing I had asked them to do! The front desk is run by high-school kids and the owner is always absent and never available for comment. I called on Thursday as I was coming out of bamfield, hows it going I ask?? Looks real good, just bearings needed no ring and pinion, you have good ears to hear those bearings he tells me. Are we still on budget then I ask?? Oh ya he tells me but not ready till Friday. Ok I say Friday morning I call him up and ask if it's going to be done today and how much is the final bill?? I'm told 1875$ now!! Why so much more?? Ad ons he tells me! What ad ones?? It's only bearings!! He didn't want to tell me. We had some words to each other and he says pay me my money or I keep your truck. After an hour I call him back and agree to pay him but he won't take a credit card, cash only he says. Long story short,, the truck got towed out of there with the rear end takin apart and parts stuffed in a box. That night I decide to look at reviews, I wish I would have looked at them first. Many people have had the same kind of dealings with him. Just a thief praying on people. Say what someone wants to hear and once he has your car he can throw out any number he wants
