Do yourself a favor and avoid these guys at all costs. I'm honestly just writing this to help others avoid having a similarly awful experience, but I'll describe two interactions specifically and you can decide for yourselves. So when the disheveled technician arrived to install our shutters I first noticed that his fingernails were purple, not from fingernail polish, but from a marker. Now I try to not judge by appearance, I mean maybe the guy has a granddaughter, but he smells like hot garbage and looks as if he just rolled out of bed, so I just head to my basement and let him get to work. After he's finished the installation I begin to inspect the shutters that have been installed in our front room window underneath our new white couch. I begin to see small flecks of red where the couch meets the window so I decide to pull the couch away from the wall. To my horror there is fresh blood dripping from the window sill onto the floor and on top of my new white couch. To add insult to injury there are wood shavings everywhere from the work he just completed (see pics below). So not only did he injure himself and start bleeding all over the place, he left the area a complete mess and then decided to cover everything up with the couch. I called Stanfield and asked for some sort of discount to at least help offset the professional cleaning I would need for my new blood stained couch. They told me they do not normally offer discounts, to which I replied, "Well do your technicians normally bleed all over your customers furniture?" They still offered no discount and instead opted to make an in-person visit a week later to see the damage which I had already cleaned for the most part. In my opinion this was not an acceptable reaction, and I have to conclude that bleeding on customer's furniture must be the norm for these guys. 2nd Experience: A few weeks ago I called in to have our shutters repaired. When they were initially installed we were told they offer a lifetime guarantee for repairs. The person on the phone said they would have a technician call to make an appt and never even mentioned the idea that this would cost anything. So on the day of the appointment the technician arrives an hour early so obviously we aren't home but we happen to have friends at the house. So the technician proceeds to enter the house and begin his repairs even though the home owners aren't even there. He finishes the job and leaves before we ever get there to discuss what needs to be done or whether we agree to pay for any work being completed. We then get a $75 repair bill in the mail for something we never agreed to nor were we even home to discuss. I hope if you've stuck around to read this that you can make a more informed decision about where to get your shutters or blinds. There are plenty of highly qualified and professional options out there to do this work. I can still literally see the blood stains on my white couch that never fully washed out. Working with these guys really isn't worth the heartache. read more

Our 2" vinyl blinds had served their purpose ... but as they started to yellow over the years and wands to twist them open and close continued to break, I finally decided to purchase what I always dreamed about ... WHITE WIDE SLATTED SHUTTERS! The shutters are now installed which leaves me asking myself, "Why did I wait so long to do this?!!!" We just needed to replace our shutters in one room to match the rest in our house, and these don't match. At all. They obviously are a much lower quality. Also they installed them crooked. When I had them come out to get it straightened they said the window moldings were crooked and there was nothing they could do. I'm sorry, but every other plantation shutter in the house is lined up PERFECTLY with the window molding, and so was the old shutter on this window. It's not that hard to get shutters that match a window. read more

They were very professional. There was a gap between the kitchen tile and the shutters, and they came back several days later to install trim to finish it off without charge. I asked for 3 plantation shutters to be repaired. The shutters were replaced but absolutely nothing else. the damage that needed to be repaired to keep the shutters in place wasn't addressed. For $300 I expected more. When I asked the employee to look at the poor quality he actually YELLED at me and said he was only told to replace 3 panels. Wow didn't think I should have to spell out how a company that makes shutters should fix the root of the problem! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE ! Update: called the business to lodge my complaint. I spoke with the front desk person who told me there was no manager in the office. Told her the problem, then magically there was a manager available who is the problem employees son. The managers son told him many things about this encounter that were untrue. The manager insinuated I was a liar when relating the events and also that I just wanted the work for free and that if he was there he would have had the panel blades dug out so I had to go somewhere else and have them fixed. The manager then went on to ask what I wanted to have happen. I told him an apology from his son. This was his word for word response "what do you want him to do get down on his knees?" So a business in my mind should be judged on not how they behave when things go perfectly but rather how things are handled when they don't. Again my advice .....GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! read more

BE CAUTIOUS!! We purchased shutters from this company just a few years ago. We spent thousands installing shutters throughout our home. They are all starting to fade and droop dramatically. Most of them will not shut properly. We were informed when we purchased these shutters that they would not fade and that they were covered by a lifetime warranty. Well, we reached out to Stanfield about our concerns expecting the lifetime warranty to resolve our concerns but were told there was nothing they could do, the lifetime warranty does not cover these issues. I am wondering what it covers then??? Do not trust this company. Poor quality products and even worse customer service. If anyone wants pictures of our pathetic shutters I am happy to provide them. read more

No one called to let us know when our install date was, so we called and were given a date. Two days before the date, as I was leaving for work, the installers came. They told me that they were scheduled to come today and the following day (as there was a technical issue and they were not able to get all the shutters made). When they installed the shutters they had, they rearranged furniture and did. It put it back in place. They also left not only choking hazards but also sharp metal tacks in the room of toddlers. They removed the brown paper from the Windows (which was put up by the sales man) and left it on the floor. Needless to say, I will not be recommending this company to anyone. read more

I had shutters installed when I first moved into my condo. One of the installers put metal hardware (screws, etc.) on a mirrored glass end table and scratched it. I was told that I could take care of it by hiring someone to buff out the damage and pay for it myself. Seriously? Eventually, they sent me a token $10 to shut me up. I had sliding door shutters installed in my guest room. They fell off the track and one of the shutters that I assumed was wood, but was actually some sort of pressed wood or particle board split in two (I should have been more aware of the quality of what I was buying). The hinges they used in my bathroom are rusting. I wouldn't use them to install toliet paper. read more

We chose Stanfield Shutters because of their decent reviews, along with the fact that their price was similar to a company we used years ago (some windows more, some less). Grant was great to give us a quick estimate over the phone, then followed up quickly with an in-home estimate. Expectations for timing on the install were spot on, as we got a text asking to setup the install very close to when we were planning for it. Then it was downhill from there. The day they wanted to install, I was specific about concerns with three people working from home that day in some of the rooms that needed the install (thank you Covid-19). I was assured that they would come at a specific time (that would have worked). However, the installers showed up 1/2 hour later than I was told. Long story short, the installers were very rude, as I later learned that they didn't like being told to do the basement first, as I had to use my office because they were late. Add to it, I had someone's fist pounding on my office door, followed by yelling through the door, followed by proceeding without so much as a polite ask if it's okay, as I was on the phone with a client. I also got snapped at with a raised voice when I told him I was working, which is absolutely unacceptable to me as a paying customer. I literally only needed 2 minutes to wrap up a call, which he didn't even bother to ask. I have security camera footage of the mistreatment by the installers, neighbors who witnessed the yelling that took place in my front yard, a copy of the text confirming an exact time and my concerns about that morning. However, when speaking to Gary (the person who called me about the issue and told me he was "what I was going to get" when I asked for a supervisor or owner) I was told about their policies and that they should have left if the rooms weren't all available. He said the scheduler wasn't there to defend herself when I let him know they were supposed to be there at a set time but told me "you've got a text I guess." In reference to the installers, I got "there's two sides to every story". When my neighbor called about what he witnessed to encourage them to talk to their installers about how to treat customers and impact their brand he got "there's two sides to every story." Evidently customers don't come first with this company. They must have enough work that they aren't worried about their mistreatment of my family, as I got more defense and scolding about not being prepared than actual apologies. Gary even implied that there was furniture in the way that the installers shouldn't move, and again should have left because of it. However, the only "furniture" that had to be moved was a small basket of toys I hadn't moved yet when the installer barged into my office. Really? This was their defense? The only saving grace was that Grant, the estimator, came to our home to finish the rushed job the installers left. He cleaned up the seams, did some touch up paint, adjusted some loose louvers and couldn't have been more polite. He even waited two minutes for my son to get off a call for work to touch up the shutters in his room, without complaint. It's unfortunate he wasn't the installer. Evidently they only have one installation team. For that reason, along with Gary's handling of the issue, I would absolutely caution anyone from using their company. I would NOT recommend. read more

I am very disappointed in Stanfield Shutters. They scheduled a appointment with me for a install and called me 30 after they should of arrived and cancelled. No reason why or when they would be able to come. The next in the afternoon I heard nothing back, so I called them. The lady that answered the phone told me she did not have a new date for me and they could not give me any date at this time. They would get in touch. Had great experience originally with Stanfield Shutters about 3 years ago. They've since come out to replace slats broken by kiddos (no football in the house!) a couple of times. Installers have always arrived during the window I was given. Install and repair is quick and professional. Just had them back today to install shutters on basement windows. They have no customer service, and will tell you to do your own adjustments to your shutters, never call you back, and if you do have a problem that should be covered under your warranty-good luck, they will make excuses and never contact you again. Asked for a refund and sent them back but the company refused to refund the money saying we did not read the fine print. Overall terrible experience and poor service. my husband and I purchased a new construction home and wanted to begin to put plantation shutter on all the windows. We started with the largest one whitch is a very big sliding glass door. The first salesman never showed up and we called and the 2nd one came right over and gave us a very good quote. We opted to go ahead and purchase. It was a wait period of several weeks which we expected. However when the schedule date arrived my husband took the day off work and the installers showed up without the correct hardward. We had to re-schedule for the following Saturday. They showed up on time and installed our shutters. They look very nice, but a bit crooked on one side. The installers left somewhat of a mess but not a huge concern. I actually called to get the next door ordered and mentioned the mess as more of a "oh by the way" The owner called me back the next day and wanted to argue about if a mess had been left or not. He called it a "he said, she said" situation. WHAT!!! Really! Very poor customer service and needless to say we will not order anymore shutters through Stanfield Shutters. read more
