my car was involved in a collision and the guy who hit it didn't have enough money in his policy to pay for my vehicle to be removed. The insurance company called this a "forced retention " which meant that getting rid of my totaled car was now my problem. Yippee. I couldn't get any other junk yard to come and get my vehicle. AAA wouldn't tow it to a salvage yard. Tom was extremely helpful, paid me a great proce to get rid of my car, and sent a tow truck the next morning (rather than same day, because I wouldn't be home). Matt of Martin's Auto Tramsport came and picked it up. He called me to let me know he was on his way. Two tires wouldn't even roll but Matt is experienced and loaded my car right up! He was amazing! I was even able to offload some random car parts laying around in my yard and I never had to leave home. I wouldn't have thought that being stuck with my totaled car could have been beneficial to me. While waiting, I decided to try another shop--only to realize it was actually the same business under a different name. I recently bought a 2006 Mercedes R350 alternator at 1/4 of the dealer price. Special mention to "Nikki", for her Superior knowledge of cars & Outstanding customer service. sold me a power steering pump pump had been cracked.. unfortunately we didnt notice till after we cleaned it up they werent willing to exchange it they made us purchase another one instead of echanging it for another one as they claimed i had broken it.. if i would have dropped the pump, the pulley would have been damaged. bad business no bueno should have learned my lesson as we had thr same issues with a bad motor they sold us once.... they just dont take care of their customers read more

Talked with 'tito' on the phone about a computer I saw on car-part.com that they had listed for $50. He said 'oh that must be a error because I get double that for computers' I said go check it yourself you have a whole list of computers for $50 and he said he wouldn't sell it for that price and he'd take $25 off if it would help. Avoid them....good deals but they are careless and give you motors with problems. They don't test it out well. They tell you the day it will be ready...then postpone on you. I recently had issues with my 2000 Audi A4 with the transmission. I have very little knowledge of cars and anything that goes on inside the car. But after a little research I called them asking if they had a used transmission for the car they asked all the appropriate questions make, model and etc. finally ending with a whats the code for the transmission. I had no idea and i said so and i was told it could be one of two to make it easier lets say A or B. I asked if they had both and they said we only have B and just for my own knowledge i asked what if the car takes an A transmission and the response was your shit out of luck?? does not really match with what I read on yelp. After which i tried asking aanother question but the phone was put down on me. I was extremely turned off by this and decided to go elsewhere. read more

Tito was recommended to me from a popular local mechanic - I went in and was quoted $2165 for an engine with 45K miles, and a new clutch, substantially lower than other mechanics I asked. Three months later, my car was at it's end, so I took it in, and was told it would take 1 week. I was notified by text that my catalytic converter was dead, but informed it was illegal to install a junkyard converter to CA laws. In a week, I came to pick up the car, and it was running great. Then then next day, it started stalling really badly. I went and bought a catalytic converted off amazon, and went to my usual mechanic to install it and diagnose the cause. In the end, I ended paying $500 which included changing the ERG valve, which I believe was a part from the junkyard, but technically not an "engine part" which would have covered it under the warranty. I have been driving the car now for 3 months, and it is like brand new. A few turns here and there, but very satisfied with the outcome. read more

I purchased a used transmission for my VW Passat from them in January of 2014. transmission started to have issues after the warranty expired. Had other work done to transmission to make right at a cost of over $1200.00. then my car got totaled because another driver decided to change lanes into the side of my car. I looked high and low for my receipt from them to give to the insurance company.I called Standard auto recycling and I was told to get a 5 digit, hand written number in yellow paint off the transmission so they could find the invoice. I drove 40 miles to get this number and when I called TONY (the same guy who sold me the transmission) Tony started acting like an ASS, and was very condescending toward my request. I gave him the number off the transmission and he told me it was the wrong number, REALLY, REALLY!!! It's the ONLY hand written number on the entire transmission!!! Standard Auto Recycling has the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with. I will NEVER...EVER purchase anything from them again. Because all I needed was a copy of a receipt, an $850.00 receipt. I'm going to tell everyone I know in the automotive industry to avoid using them. I'm a Master Tech with over 30 years in the field and I teach. Guess what I'm going to say about them to new techs. PSST!! ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS HELP ME GET A COPY OF A RECEIPT!!! read more
