Stan's Cafe have done the most innovative show that I have seen for such a long time. It's called 'Of All the People in the World' and it's toured for a few years now - most recently it was in the AE Harris Factory in Birmingham (in September this year). If you get a chance to see this you musn't miss it. The premise is that they have the population of the world represented by grains of rice. They then take these grains of rice and put them on paper to represent numbers of people say who are in prison, who are millionaires in the world, who live in poverty, who went to Moseley Folk Festival and my most favourite was the number of people who are I think changed their names to Elvis Presley by deed poll or something similar. They also represent tragic figures as well for example women killed in domestic violence every week etc. It is poignant installation - it can make you laugh, be sad, bring a tear to your eye or just think a bit more. I'm looking forward to seeing more of their work and am proud that they are from Brum. read more
