I looked at the site everyday and looking at the girl we wanted, she was still there so I called and said we decided to take her. Well that was a deal she had appointments and I would have to wait to see if any of them wanted her??? I just said we will take her, you would think if we made a scheduled visit and then wanted to talk about it they would think we were for sure on taken her. You have a visit and I do not know if we said something that made them think we were not qualified. Well to make a long story short there were more visits for this pet (she was very timid). To put her through this broke my heart. I called the second day and told them please let me take her....nope she has more visits. I would have to get on the schedule and I said put me on the schedule which I told them on the first call. I had my friend call and she got on the schedule to make a visit and I still was waiting...well she did get adopted, my heart broke. I was so disappointed and still can not believe with all the pets they have there and beg people to come look and then not let us take her due to people wanting to see her..unreal. We did find our girl at the Spearfish shelter. I would not go back their rules are ridiculous. I had referrals from the vet and animal shelter in Lead which they did not even call to verify..so disappointing.

There is a mile-ish long trail you can walk to get closer to the memorial, and it is nice wood, but lots of stairs! We loved the stroll. There is a little museum, huge gift shops, and food options. Clean bathrooms!! A must have. Highly recommend going. We spent 2 hours here - that is with the walk through the woods, the gift shop, and the museum.
